A really breathtaking luxury front sea villa with private pool. The name of Villa Alto Mare means open sea in Italian. Italy is 200 miles in front at the villa across the open sea. Situated above the hidden small Alaties Beach (5 minutes walking) with its beautiful clear waters (one of the best Kefalonia's fishing spot) and natural sea salt pools. Nestled on a natural hillside surrounded by lush wild Cephalonian vegetation, you will confuse the limits of the property with the immensity of the natural landscape. The owner, a french lady, took a special care of the decoration mixing contemporary bauhaus interior design with balinese furniture. Outside, furnishings are in teak wood and rattan. With 300 square meters of teak decking to enjoy amazing sunsets, the villa offers total relaxing privacy to compliment a unforgettable vacations experience.

At 8 km from the villa, Fiscardo is a picturesque and beautiful Greek harbour village on the Northern tip of Kefalonia, largest of the seven Ionian Islands. Fiscardo is unique in that it was left virtually undamaged during the great earthquake of 1953, that ruined most of the historic buildings on Kefalonia. Traditionnal Kefalonian fishing boats moor alongside the more extravagant temporary visitors during the summer. If you are early enough you can buy freshly caught fish. Otherwise, a stroll around the harbour will take you on a tour of some of the most luxurious yachts. Many of them are owned by the rich and famous who are attracted to Kefalonia by the tranquillity of Fiscardo.Fiscardo at night takes on an entirely different perspective.The lights, the old buildings, cafes, bars and restaurants all combine to provide a magical Mediterranean atmosphere.Of all the villages of Kefalonia, Fiscardo stands out as having a unique ambiance, especially on a summer evening.

Stunning holiday home

We rented this holiday home to celebrate a special family birthday. The villa was absolutely stunning - beautifully maintained and thoughtfully furnished and decorated. The views across the ocean from the pool decks and surrounding terrace were second to none. I would thoroughly recommend this villa to anyone seeking a relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings.

There were plenty of very good restaurants and bars in the surrounding villages, though a car is needed. The owner was also very helpful in providing detailed information about local attractions and activities.

The best holiday ever

We stayed at this Villa in August 2009. It is perfect in every way. The description is perfect, it is breathtaking. The accommodation is fabulous and the outside areas are just everything you could ever want. But the absolute crowning glory is the most perfect uninterputed view of the ocean.The little beach close by is the best ever for snorkelling and so so pretty. The owner made us so very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. It was romantic, quiet, fun, warm and a very very happy place to be. Thank you

Simply stunning views and position...

The stunning panorama is breathtaking as you walk into Villa Alto Mare. The whole villa flows seemlessly from inside to outside. There are so many different places to sit, lie and eat that we were able to have the most relaxing and lazy 2 weeks. Catherine the owner has extremely good taste and she has furnished the villa beautifully. Thanks also for all her help.

When we managed to leave the lovely pool area, we visited Fiskardo for some great meals and atmosphere. There are some great tavernas in the local vicinity too. There are also many coves including Aliates beach for snorkelling and swimming.

We would love to come back again.

relax and wonderful holidays

We rent the villa for 10 days in June and had the great pleasure to discover Kefalionia Island, specially the north of the Island and its small and typical fishermen village, iscardo. We spend 10 wonderful days, enjoying at the same time , the two pools, the marvellous 180 ° see view, the sharp and good taste of the owner in decorating the property, the calm of the place just at middle way between town exitements with bars and typical restaurants and the amazing peace of see sounds.
Sincerely, il you want to come back from yours holidays with a wonderful souvenir, we advise you to spend a few days in Alto Mare.

One of the best, relaxing holidays I have ever had

I have stayed in some pretty nice places all over the world but my first reaction when we arrived here was to scream with joy. The photos don't do it justice, it really feels like you are the only ones on the island.
It felt like every detail had been thought of in the villa to the I-pod docking station to the private sun beds provided on the local beach.
We all had such a wonderfully relaxing break me and my friends all have holiday blues now. We will definately be returning.
