I am an avid world traveler which is my passion. When not traveling, I enjoy the 'SLO' life and spend my time with hobbies like cooking, designing, and hiking the surrounding hills. I am happy to be of assistance if needed and/or be your concierge.
The Owner purchased this house in 2005
I chose this home because of its sunny rooms and ideal location to walking downtown and nearby outdoor activities and beaches. I love being able to look out and see San Luis Mtn. from the front porch swing. The weather is almost always perfect and there is always something fun to do in this area.
All within walking distance, there are great restaurants, tapas and coffee bars, boutiques, Farmers' Market (Thursdays), summer concerts in Mission Plaza and movie houses (The Palm Theater shows foreign films!). But if you venture out a little further, we have incredible day trips such as: Morro Bay for whale watching and other sea life, Big Sur for world class vistas, Avila Beach for surfing and swimming and sunbathing. Even Santa Barbara is just only an hour and a half away! But the best part of this house is coming back from a great outing and relaxing with friends or family in the cheerful, cozy atmosphere, or waking to the sound of the Mission chimes downtown.
Wonderful cosy stay for our family of four. A short Walk to downtown, Thursday night farmers market, neighborhood Thai restaurant and coffee shop. We were made to feel at home by the owner and given excellent restaurant and activity suggestions. The kids enjoyed the front porch swing and game of horseshoes in the front yard. My wife and I enjoyed the outdoor courtyard, kitchen and fireplace. We can't wait to visit again.
My husband, two daughters and I were only able to stay a couple of days in this beautiful little house, but had a wonderful stay and felt thoroughly comfortable the whole time. The house is even more charming in person, with a wonderfully cozy fireplace for cool mornings, lovely courtyard, front porch, comfortable beds and all of the necessities. Jamie is a thoughtful hostess indeed. We enjoyed a coffee shop just a few blocks away and some restaurants and shops downtown. If we hadn't been taking advantage of lazy vacation days, we might've cooked more than breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen! Our whole family agreed that the property was far superior to staying in hotel rooms - once you've seen one, you've seen most. If the photos/description intrigue you, you won't be disappointed. It was everything promised and more. Thank you Jamie!
We thoroughly enjoyed our month-long stay here in SLO! Jamie's care & enthusiasm were apparent the minute we walked in the door - from the charming decor, to the (very) comfortable bed & bathroom, the highly functional kitchen & the delightful patio - it was all so thoughtfully designed & managed. Jamie is a delightful & considerate hostess, having provided insights into the town & surrounding areas, as well as restaurant recommendations galore. We took full advantage of the "close to downtown" location on a daily basis but were surprised at how quiet & peaceful the neighborhood is at night. We couldn't have been happier with this rental & look forward to returning again & again.
Just returned home to Vancouver Island, Canada, and are reflecting on the wonderful 4 weeks we just spent at Jamie's place. It was the perfect house for us in terms of its comfortable and functional interior, private courtyard, off-street parking and friendly neighbourhood. As everyone else has said, we loved the short walk to downtown SLO and the short drives to many other interesting towns. We took advantage of many other activities as well; golf, yoga, hiking and wildlife viewing, to name a few. Finally, It was a pleasure to meet Jamie and we appreciated her enthusiasm for helping to make our stay a memorable one and one that we plan to repeat next year.
As we prepare to leave our little slice of heaven here in San Luis Obispo, we can't say enough wonderful things about this charming bungalow. My husband and I have been traveling CA for the past 3 weeks and arriving here was like landing on the perfect feather pillow. "Darling" is the best way I can describe this home. From the moment I walked in my first words were, "this place has magnificent karma." And it does. The best way to describe it is like Martha Stewart came to freshen up and help decorate your favorite grandmother's cozy, comfy home! Jamie went out of her way to make us feel welcome with homemade lemonade and goodies upon our arrival, but the deal was already sealed the minute I walked in the door!
The location is perfect; we woke up each morning and walked into downtown SLO to our favorite coffee shop which was always buzzing with morning locals (and downtown SLO is simply splendid -- too many wonderful, independent restaurants to mention here and so many great shops and sights in the neighborhood). The walk from the house to downtown has lovely views of the mountains and beautiful historic homes dotted along the way. We loved the neighborhood mix of small bungalows and stately historic residences. We walked morning and night. Always felt safe, and the neighborhood is very quiet and relaxed. I was a bit concerned about lack of air conditioning at first, but wow, the breezes in the house with the windows and dutch door open are TREMENDOUS. Even if there had been air conditioning, we would have never turned it on (trust me, we never, ever stay anywhere without it but in this case, it is absolutely not needed, and we even had a few hot days).
The furniture is as comfy as can be; bed linens the same. I could live at the farm table in the kitchen with the great windows that open up and look out onto the patio area. Whether walking the area, taking a quick drive to Avila Beach (a must do!), visiting the incredible wineries around the Paso area or visiting Cal Poly…it's all right at your fingertips in SLO. I miss this little home already. Thank you, Jamie! We will be back!
My daughter and I stayed here for two weeks this summer and I could not have been happier with this rental. The neighborhood is beautiful, the house is as clean and charming as it looks in the pictures and the owner was thoughtful and helpful. The location is walking distance to downtown SLO and an easy drive to lots of fun, nearby activities. We can't wait to come back and enjoy more time on that front porch swing and in the beautiful courtyard!
