3 BEDROOM HOUSE CLOSE TO YOSEMITE: WALKING DISTANCE TO YARTS

Mariposa House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Our house is located in historic Mariposa downtown and is a perfect location to return to during your visit to Yosemite National Park. We offer a fully equipped kitchen. The house has three bedrooms each with a queen bed, one bedroom has an attached half bath, and another with a sliding glass door to the back deck. The living room has a beautiful wood stove with views of the mountains above Mariposa. We are located on a quiet street and neighborhood. We are walking distance to many great restaurants and downtown shops. The town of Mariposa offers many activities in the summer for travelers, such as live music and festivals. Just two blocks from public transportation, leave your car and avoid trying to find a parking spot in Yosemite.

We have just newly remodeled the house with local wood flooring.

Ken and Schree Yager meet in Yosemite and have chosen the area to raise our family. Ken, a former rock climbing guide is the founder of Yosemite Climbing Association and sponsor of the Yosemite Facelift, an annual clean up of Yosemite National Park on Public Lands day. Schree works for a non-profit that connects youth to the natural world. We both love the park and the mountains and rivers that surround it.

The Owner purchased this house in 1996

We purchased this house because it is close to Yosemite National Park and we like the historic downtown Mariposa. We also enjoy the views of the mountains from the house.

We are two blocks away from public transportation to Yosemite National Park

Clean, comfortable, and convenient

  • 5 of 5
This was our first visit to Mariposa and our first attempt with VRBO, and we couldn't be happier!
The house is lovely and very well maintained. It was very clean and well stocked. The sheets and towels appear to be new, as do the appliances. You can tell that the owners have a great deal of pride in their property and in providing their guests with a great place to stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again, and I will recommend to our friends if they're in the area.

The location was great. Nothing in Mariposa can be far, but this house in particular was very close to the supermarket and to one of the YARTS stops. The owners recommended the Sugar Pine Cafe, which was delicious, as was the Pizza Factory. We went to both twice.

The drive into Yosemite wasn't bad -- maybe 1.5 hours or a bit less. We did it several times and it was easy and scenic.

Highly recommend both the property and the town.

Awesome place!

This 3bd/1.5ba property was perfect for our group of six, with enough parking in the driveway for up to three cars. The house itself had all of the amenities needed - AC/heat, reliable wifi (though absolutely no cell phone reception), nice comfy beds, towels, satellite TV, a nicely stocked kitchen, and even a propane BBQ. Being situated away from the main road, it was also nice and quiet.

The location itself was perfect for Yosemite goers. It's a mere 5 minute walk to the YARTS bus stop which takes you directly into the Yosemite Valley for $12 roundtrip. It took about 1:45 hrs each way opposed to 1hr if we were to drive, but we didn't have to worry about traversing the windy, narrow roads, parking, gas, or anything else. Practically in the same parking lot as the bus stop is a nice, full size (i.e. not a convenience or general) grocery store for all of our snacking and meal needs. Mariposa downtown was just 0.50 miles away for more food and drink options.

We found the accommodations to be very comfortable...especially the king size bed! We had most everything we needed to cook meals and the air conditioning was running when we got there on a very hot day. Thanks so much

Highly Recommended

I would highly recommend staying at this home if you are looking for a place to rest in Mariposa. It is centrally located to the town and the beds are extremely comfortable. This home is tastefully decorated and has everything to meet your needs for a stay near Yosemite. The owners were very pleasant to work with and promptly refunded the deposit after our stay. The only reason that I didn't rate it a 5 star was because the dryer was out of order when we stayed and therefore we were unable to use it (but I would give it a 4.5 star if possible).

Wish we can stay longer!!

Where should I start...so much fun and memories happened from this warm loving home!!
The owner really made this place so warm and comfortable for our stay! We can't say enough of how well equipped their kitchen were, even my elderly parents were amazed how much they felt like their home kitchen! Really love their newly renovated kitchen top, latest dishwasher made by Bosch (yes, we have one...really love these stainless steel dishwasher that can WASH almost anything!). We even used their nice convection oven to cook our ribs...boy...it turns out better than the one at home!
Outside the home near the carport area, can't say enough how thoughtful the owner wish each of their tenants to enjoy their outdoor dining experience. Very simple outdoor furniture plus a water mister installed on top of the carport; which makes it really cool when it gets hot! I know our kids went crazy when we turned on the water mister for a minute or so, because it was a HOT weekend where topped 110 degree! With such hot weather, we can't help not to utilize their nice (fairly new) BBQ grill to cook off our meat! Yes, the grates of the grill were nicely seasoned...all I need to do is fire it off and cook them!!
You may ask, since it was a HOT weekend...how did we survive?? The answer lies on their central A.C. unit! The A.C. actually was our life saver for all the hot nights we were there. Everyone slept well and comfortable with the help of their floor fan (provided) to help circulate the A.C. throughout the house, very thoughtful!!
There were so much more details that I wish I can share and review them, but I'll leave those for all the other reviewers to praise these folks! Thank you for all the nice restaurants, museums (love that Minerals Museum you suggested…a must GO for kids who wish to pan some gold, YES GOLD!!), shopping and places to go information. If you are new to the area, don’t forget to stop by the nearby Visitor Center (just a few block down on Hwy 140). People in there were super friendly and love to show you everything you need to roam around their town and Yosemite NP. TIPS : You can also buy your NP pass there, so that you don’t have to wait in line at the Park’s entrance!!
Lastly but not the least, thanks also for welcome us with a nice cool and clean house when we first step in from a long HOT ride! We will surely pass along this great place to our friends! For sure, we'll be back!!!
