GENUINE WINEGROWER'S STONE HOUSE IN GIGONDAS, PROVENCE

Gigondas House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 - 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.25 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

A large authentic, romantic Provencal house in the heart of the village of Gigondas, a well-known reference for wine buffs and a UNESCO world heritage site. The owner’s family has been winegrowers and vintners for generations and will be happy to have you taste the best wines of the region. The house is at the foot of the majestic medieval castle and overlooks the Rhöne Valley, where many great wines are grown. The 2-storey house has 4 private bedrooms + 1 semi-private room. It sleeps up to 10 in 1 king, 2 queens, 2 large twins, and 2 folding beds. The kitchen is spacious and sunny, and faces the terassed gardens peppered with centuries-old olive and cyprus trees. The stone patio is ideal for outdoor dining, or just relaxing xhile taking in the magnificent views of the valley below. There are also a number of excellent restaurants serving local fare in the beautiful center of the village, 100 yards away through a maze of narrow winding streets.

I am, as my parents and my ancestors were , a grape grower, wine maker and wine seller. I have a 'caveau', a shop in the center of Gigondas where I sell my wine 'Domaine du Moulin de la Gardette':

But I also sell it all over the world. I was born in the village and I still live there close to this house( I have not found more beautiful place yet)

see my web site: http://www.moulindelagardette.com

Jean Baptiste purchased this house in 1750

This is the house where my family has lived for generations.

This centuries-old stone Provencal home abutts a medieval castle at the top of the hill on which the village is perched, and offers breath-taking views of the Rhône Valley below.

This home offers its guests a magnificent setting, in a very quiet and beautiful area that is just a short stroll to the lively village center.

We loved this place.
The home was very spacious and nestled just below an old church. The pictures are very accurate to those posted. Beautiful countryside - charming home.
The town was very beautiful, clean, quite and the people very friendly. The owner met us at the home and was very nice and helpful in telling us how we could see the most while enjoying our visit to the countryside, both in this town and areas close by.
I would recommend this place to family and friends. We would rent here again if we return to France.

We enjoyed our stay here in September 2012. The village and the location were fantastic (not to mention the wine). The house was clean & comfortable and. The kitchen is gully equipped. Most of our time was spent on the fabulous terrace. It was a pleasure doing business with this owner, an authentic Gigondas vigneron (wine maker)!
Will return asap.

Owner's Response: There is a gully in the village, but not in the kitchen :-))
Indeed, the kitchen is fully equipped.

Not only is the owner extremely knowledgeable in his wine business, but he also turns out to be a charming host, just as dedicated to making his guests comfortable at his home as he is to show them the innards of his trade.

My wife and I spent 2 nights, and WE SHALL RETURN!

Amazing house, hospitality and surroundings!

Perched high up at the top of the charming village of Gigondas in Provence, this beautiful rental was everything we were looking for and more. Tastefully renovated, this 200+-year-old stone house maintains all of its original charm, while providing all the comforts of modern living. Very spacious, great volumes, drenched in sunlight, floorplan provides for privacy and yet the great room is just that -- great for family get-togethers and entertaining guests.

The garden is terraced, providing shade from centuries-old cyprus and olive trees, overlooking the beautiful valley below. The stone walls supporting the garden are peppered with antique sculptures here and there, giving the property additional charm. In addition, there is no thru traffic, so the silence is only interrupted by the wind in the trees and the songs of the cicadas.

The surrounding region provided us with many opportunities to visit the wineries and the myriad of picturesque villages in the area. We also found quite a few restaurants serving traditional fare at very reasonable prices. (And the wines are always excellent!)

Our host was not only very charming but also very helpful in suggesting to us with a number of places to go and things to see, and since he is a winegrower, we were given a wonderful tour of the property, and a private visit to the cellar for an afternoon of tasting.

We highly recommend this vacation rental to families, friends, or couples looking to immerse themselves in Provencal charm and well-being.

Oh, and about the AC: there is none, simply because even though the weather is warm (and sometimes very warm) during the day, the thick stone walls keep the house cool in the evening, making it ideal for getting a good night's sleep in this magnificent home.
