MULTI MILLION DOLLAR 280 ACRE PRIVATE LAKE ESTATE. 5,500 SQ FT

Eagle River Estate Rental Photos and Description

Estate, 4 Bedrooms + Loft, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 13-20)

Just 30 minutes North of Eagle River but miles away from that type of vacation experience. This is a 280 acre estate that contains a 60 acre private lake that is stocked with bass, rainbow trout and other gamefish. The 280 acres are completly surronded by National Forest and one corner touches a small piece of paper company land. You will not see another person on this lake. When most advertise a private lake they mean it doesn't have a public boat ramp but many other cottages. This is a private lake where the estate owns the entire lake (about 2 miles of shoreline). There are three homes on the lake all of which we own. The first (being listed here) is a custom Frank Llloyd Wright inspired main lodge which is 5,500 sq ft. Post and Beam construction with generous use of cedar, slate, marble, stained glass, and glass block. It has a 1,500 sq ft mezzanine master suite that leaves nothing to be desired. The master bath is complete with a walk-in 6 head steam shower, huge jetted tub, dual hand painted vessel sinks, heated towel bars. All of it over looking the lake. Chefs kichen with a Viking double oven, Jenn air gas and electric cooktop, dishwasher, two sinks, wine refrigerator, and 48' refrigerator. All stainless steel. Gas fire places in the living room and downstairs master bedroom. A wood burning (gas starter) fireplace in the lakeside gathering room. Four bedrooms. Mezzanine master has a king and full futon, downstairs master has a queen, one bedroom with two sets of bunk beds and another with a double and single bed, a loft with a double bed. Four bathrooms. The downstairs master bath has double sinks, walk-in shower, jetted tub, and a sauna. When you open the windows of both masters you hear the soothing sounds of the waterfalls. Beautiful dining room with a beverage refrigerator. Living room looks thru the trees onto the stream below that runs thru the front of the property. The second home on the property is the caretakers residence (vacant) and the third (not visible from the main lodge and on the other side of the lake) is the guesthouse that is also available to rent but only to the same group that rents the main lodge. That keeps it a private lake experience. This will be a very private lake experience for you and your family. The 220 acres of woods have a trail system thru it and is great for exploring and seeing wildlife. The house has ample deck space and a screen porch off of the kitchen for morning coffee or evening meals. Beautiful sand beach where the kids will play and swim for hours. There is a large firepit at the lakefront and another at the top of the largest waterfall also lakefront. Children love to explore the stream running from the waterfalls in front of the home thru the property. You will love relaxing at the 'happy hour' house that is perched over the water at the base of the the largest waterfall. If you want the Northwoods experience from 100 years ago (with a 5,500 sq ft estate home) then this is the spot. If you are looking for neighbors or a waterski and jetski lake then you would be disapointed here.We just purchased this property in the winter of 2012 so virtually everything is brand new. The property has a helipad so if you happen to need it let me know and I will give you the coordinates and have the wind sock put up.

We have vacationed in the Northwoods my entire life and currently spend the summers in Sugar Camp. We love everything about the Northwoods and would love to be up there full time except for the long winters and I still have a full time job.

Tom purchased this estate in 2012

We bought this as you never see private lakes come up for sale. Then you add 280 acres that are surronded by National Forest and three beautiful homes and we decided we couldn't pass it up.We are renting it as it is too special of a place not to be viewed by human eyes most of the year. We are sure that we will eventually retire here.

The absolute natural beauty that you can't find anywhere. Having a lake all to yourself is a special feeling. Relaxing by the two waterfalls is something you will never forget. It is unbelievably quiet and the stars and northern lights are something to behold. Property is surronded by the Ottawa National Forest. People that have rented Falling Waters have said an unexpected benefit is that they can let their kids be kids here and never ask them to quiet down as there is no one for miles to hear them. You will wonder how this property ever remained private in the middle of the National Forest. The trails thru the woods are spectacular and wildlife abounds. There is even a 1880's trappers cabin on the lakeshore for a unique photo oppurtunity. If you can't relax at Falling Waters at Red Pine Lake then you just can't relax. You will create memories that your family will talk about for years. Great retreat for family bonding as you never have to worry about jet ski's or motor boats going by when you are trying to enjoy the tranquility of the Northwoods. The trumpeter swans that have lived on the lake for years put on a show almost every morning and night as they try to clear the lake of any other waterfowl to show their dominance. Lots of deer. Have seen bear, wolves, otters, beavers, badgers and there is a bald eagle that lives on the lake as well. The DNR have told me that they have seen moose prints on the property but we have yet to see a moose. A place that your family will talk about for years. The property is gated.

Christmas in July

  • 5 of 5
We all found this place to be very comfortable, very spacious, and retreat-like for our multigenerational family "Christmas in July" celebration. Raspberries and blueberries were available. Trout and bass were caught and eaten too. T-ball, badmington, frisbee throwing, and outdoor grilling when not in or on the water. Games were played at night and some even ventured out for a late night walk in the woods. Birds and foul, four footed animals, and waterfalls for viewing pleasures. The space suited us since there were 11 adults, 3 teens, 1 toddler, and an infant. The kitchen and dining rooms were a gathering space for a few of the special meals, with room for all (cooks and recipients). the pantry, refrigerator, and counter space were welcome accomodations. Even the mayfly hatch was considered fun -all of the windows were covered! "Newbies" to the area went to view the Paulding light. Some of us enjoyed the geocaching in the area, one of which included a challenging rigorous hike. Thanks for opening this home to us.
Great time in a wonderful place.

Gorgeous property, house had all that and more, something for everyone to enjoy

  • 5 of 5
This should have been written way back, but I wanted to make sure I wrote something to let people know my view on this fantastic property and house. As you get closer to the house you seem to be getting deeper into the woods, then you turn onto the property and you knew you were going to have a fantastic time. The house was modern, beautifully decorated, state of the art bathrooms and a very nice well stocked kitchen. We loved eating breakfast in the screened porch, planning our day.
We enjoyed sitting by the lake relaxing. Everybody enjoyed the canoes, rowing around lake and taking in the quiet. Others enjoyed using the row boat and went fishing. The fishing was pretty good, although most were too small to eat. The guys liked it anyway.
We got a kick out of Paulding Lights and all the whispering as to what it could be.
We went to Bond Falls and Agate Falls. We took a drive to Porcupine Mountains and saw Lake in the Clouds, we hiked all day and then relaxed by Lake Superior.
We rented a couple of ATV's for the week, so re rode the numerous trails on the property and also ventured out. There are tons of trails, we did rent a couple more for one day so everybody could go and we were gone all day.
Our family just loved the quiet. The swans were our wake up call, loved it.
I love stars and love looking up at them, I can only image they would be plentiful. I don't want to say that unfortunately due to a full moon we did not see many, because the beauty that we experienced with the full moon glistening off the lake is a picture that I will have in my mind for a long time.
Tom, the owner was great to work with. He is so excited to share his property and have people enjoy it. You will have tons of fun in and around the house, I definitely recommend this house.

A New Vacation Standard

  • 5 of 5
We enjoy hunting for a different vacation rental each year in hopes of finding one that offers just a bit more than the previous year. But this year we may have run into a snag because we doubt that there is much better. What a nice problem to have.

You'll read descriptions about "quiet conditions" but nothing could beat this kind of quiet. It took some getting use to! It may take a little transition time, but you'll love it. We braced ourselves for epic mosquito and tick conditions but never really ran into problems. The skeeters were impressive in the evening and morning hours, but not really a factor any other time. This place has sooooo much room to stretch out, wander away for a walk, hide away to read a book or take a nap. It really is a special place.

We took a day-trip to the Porcupine Mountains and hiked around a bit. Lake of the Clouds is really something to see. I've lived in NE Wisconsin my whole life and feel bad that it's taken me so long to discover what the Upper Peninsula has to offer. Pretty incredible. Bond Falls is also a must see. And don't forget Pauling Lights. Look this up online before you go to get a good idea of the back-story of these mystery lights. We enjoyed chatting with the locals there as much as seeing the spook lights. Very entertaining.

Our fishing experiences weren't nearly as grand as the other reviews state. But our efforts weren't very grand either. For whatever reasons, we weren't fooling the fish... but nobody seemed to mind. We wouldn't have known what to do with them anyway if we did catch them.

The little sand beach turned out to be perfect for the one youngster with us. Was also nice to pull the canoes and inflatable catamarans up onto the beach vs navigating around a dock. (those inflatables are really fun)

You won't find a more helpful owner than Tom. Have yet to meet the guy or even chat via phone, but he set another new standard for us with his quick, responsive emails. That means much to us. So Bravo Tom!

WOW!!!

  • 5 of 5
Words can't truly describe this estate! Upon entering through the front door, you hear the stream and see its beauty. However, that is just the beginning. This house has everything one could want while on vacation. Many amenities, towels, kitchen appliances and a hot-tub for more than 3!
The owner was very quick to respond to any questions. This is the place for a relaxation vacation!

Unparalleled experience - will be tough to find hidden gems like this elsewhere

  • 5 of 5
Words cannot do justice to this wonderful property. The photos, while gorgeous, also do not fully show how beautiful this property is. A picture IS worth 1,000 words. But you must see this property to fully appreciate it. It's truly a gem in the Northwoods.

We spent two great summer weeks there with three kids (ages 6, 11 and 14). I've vacationed in the Eagle River area over many years, and can say that nothing compares to the privacy and amenities at this property. I am writing this review nearly one year later (forgot to submit it last year) and here's a testament to how much my kids loved it: they remind me every week about our vacation there and the things we did.

The home is wonderful and comfortable. Lots of space for people to relax in private (my eldest found quiet spaces and read 12 books during our stay) - and also great spaces for people to come together. The views from every room are gorgeous. The home was clean and well-maintained.

If you love hiking - you'll love the trails on the property (and the chance to collect rasberries along the way). We hiked nearly every day, for hours at a time. There's so many opportunities to explore without ever having to go anywhere else. We saw lots of wildlife during our stay.

If you love fishing, you'll have such a great time - the lake has lots of bass and panfish and offers plenty of interesting areas to try your fishing skills. There are a variety of boats (with electric motors) available and we fished out of all of them. My two youngest kids (6 year old girl and 11 year old boy) wanted to fish twice every day and were eager to jump up at 5 am to go out on the lake when it was foggy. We even had fun night fishing (use lots of bug spray though and bring a light). We caught 200+ bass in two weeks (all but 4 were catch and release). Tons of panfish!

If you love campfires, there's a great area to have a fire. We did that every night, making smores and telling stories.

If you love swimming - there's a small beach area and the kids had a ball going for a daily swim.

The weather was wonderful. Not too hot during the day and absolutely stunning at night. We haven't breathed such fresh air in a very long time.

The owners were phenomenal - answered all of our questions promptly, checked in by email with us to make sure everything was going right with our stay, and made our stay one of the most memorable vacations we've ever had.

I highly recommend this property - and these owners. Absolutely first rate!

"Amazing" at every turn

"Amazing" at every turn

Everything I read and heard fell short in sufficiently describing how incredible this Eagle River destination is. The solitute made it possible to thoroughly enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife - - countless trails, panoramic views, waterfalls, streams, the lake, beautiful sunsets and more "quiet" than you'll ever get at home or another resort. A summer trip would have opened up the possibilities even further, but even in the fall, this was an incredible experience!
