This home is Located just north of Lakeside on the west side of Flathead Lake with 600 feet of amazing lake front, complete with a large fire pit! The pebbled beach is great for sunning yourself during the day and star gazing at night. The generous deck provides you with fantastic views of the lake and mountains.

Troy Evans is an actor who was born and raised in Northwest Montana. He started acting in the 1970’s at Flathead Valley Community College, and since then has worked in theatres all over the country, appeared in over fifty films (Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Under Siege, The Black Dahlia, etc.) and nearly 400 television episodes including 129 episodes of ER as Frank, the cranky desk clerk. He still has many relatives in the Flathead.

Troy is married to Heather McLarty. Heather is a well known Blacksmith-Artist. Her work can be seen at Steelcrazy.biz.

NW Montanas Best Vacation Homes purchased this house in 1968

Hi, when I was in Viet Nam in 1968 my folks wrote me that they had purchased an old cabin on Flathead Lake. The wonderful old fishing get-away with almost 600 feet on the lake was too beautiful for me to picture before I got home. By the mid 1980’s my parents were ready to move back to town, and fortune had smiled on me. I was working on the TV series “CHINA BEACH” which allowed me to buy the family lake house. These days my wife and I prefer the Flathead in the fall so we rent the cabin in the summer months. We don’t strip our things out of it. Most of the furnishings have been in the house for half a century or more. The beds are new. We leave our bedding, kitchen utensils, and artwork on the theory that our guests will treat the house as guests in our home. We find that they do.

I want to note that it is a cabin. It has only one shower. The downstairs has a nice half bath. We have a Neptune washer and dryer. The place is ideal for one or two couples; not so much for large groups. Young children don’t seem to like the downstairs because it is really separated. We do have a decent TV, and highspeed wireless internet.

If you stay with us you will enjoy one of the most beautiful and private gravel beaches on Flathead Lake. Where-ever you stay, I’m sure you will have a glorious time in the Flathead.

We had a wonderful stay at the Evans Home. The views are amazing - we saw an osprey gets its dinner from the lake and bald eagles soaring over the water. The dock was great. The best part of this house, though, is the beach area. The beach was a godsend for my children; we spent many afternoons there. And the campfire area was great for smores. The house has many treasures inside, though, so I would recommend this house for children over 4. The rental company was responsive and helpful. Overall, a wonderful stay!!!

An excellent property but property management keeps dropping the ball

This home is an excellent property. Comfortable, well appointed, great location, homey, in an absolutely beautiful spot with privacy and views that are second to none. It's a shame Troy has it listed for sale!
If it were just the property I was rating, it would warrant an excellent rating - a 9.5 out of 10, one of the best I've stayed at, possibly even a 10. But the property management is not doing a particularly good job and the rating is lower as a result. Examples:
- As a previous guest mentioned, the tree sap on the deck, chairs, BBQ is a serious issue. It gets on your clothes, feet, everywhere and then gets carried into the house. I'm still trying to get tree sap out of my swim trunks. Whoever cut the tree limbs, at the completely wrong time of the year and in the wrong way, should be banned from ever wielding a saw again. The property management said they would fix the issue but 1 month later the tree was still pouring sap everywhere.
- Screen door to the deck is a wreck. It needs replacing or fixing and when you consider how many times you go in and out of the kitchen onto the deck, it gets very frustrating dealing with a screen door that is missing a wheel on the bottom and does not close and open properly.
- Oven door on the stove is partially busted. Admittedly this is minor but these things start to add up.
- As other guests have mentioned, response time from the property management has been poor. My guess is they have had difficulty with some of the staff as Isaac (manager) is responsive, but only after other staff have not bothered to reply to emails. I also had to send multiple emails to get my deposit processed. This just isn't professional.

Guests note: During our stay we had an issue with beeping in the basement in the middle of the night, waking my kids, and based on the info in the house's property details book we thought it was the septic having an issue. Great. Here the property management did respond quickly to have a truck come out to pump the tanks. However, it turns out the beeping was from smoke detectors which had their batteries dieing, not the septic.

Overall this house is definitely worth renting, get it before it is sold and not available anymore. But don't be surprised if there are issues with the property management.

I apologize that you did not feel we were responsive.

We responded to your calls within minutes and your emails were all returned promptly within 24 hrs. You may find our responses in your junk email folder.

The tree sap was mitigated as best possible after we were alerted to it by the previous guest. If you would have let us know you were still dealing with the issue we would have sent a service person back out immediately to address the sap issue. We were not made aware of the issues with the stove or the screen door during your stay.

We responded to and repaired the septic issue within 4 hrs of your call and called to follow up about the beeping when the repair was complete. Unfortunately, we did not hear back from you that the beeping had not stopped or that you were experiencing other maintenance issues.

Your deposit refund was processed within 3 days of your check out.

I am happy that you enjoyed the property and apologize for the inconveniences you experienced.

The directions provided where extremely helpful. We were impressed with the extent of homeliness that the interior design presented and amenities (i.e. binoculars, books and brochures, pantry supplies) provided. The only issue we encountered was sap that dripped from the recent tree trimming that was scattered throughout the outside deck area. Other than that, it exceeded our expectations.
