BEAUTIFUL MODERN HOUSE IN STUNNING PRESTIGIOUS CRAOBH HAVEN MARINA.

Oban, Isle of Mull & Lorn House Rental Photos and Description

Lovely 2 Bed/2 Bath STB 4* modern sunny house in outstanding location near Oban

Mullach Dubh (pronounced Doo!) is a beautiful modern two bedroom two bathroom house in the prestigious Marina village of Craobh Haven (pronounced Croov!), near Oban. Our sunny light spacious home with its open plan living, well equipped kitchen and sunny garden is a perfect holiday home for families, couples and friends. We have Scottish Tourist Board 4* quality standard.

The tiny village of Craobh Haven, right on the sea with spectacular sunsets and views, is ideally situated midway between Oban and Lochgilphead in arguably the most stunning part of Argyll, with its amazing scenery, sea lochs, Hebridean islands, hills and moors, ancient history, art galleries and excellent shops, wonderful locally produced meat, fish, seafood and vegetables and first class restaurants.

Mullach Dubh - Living: Our beautiful new modern family home has been lovingly refurbished, redecorated, refurnished and re-carpeted to meet the highest sophisticated modern standards

The open plan living area is spacious, clean, warm and bright throughout - with sun pouring in from the large windows to the front and back, giving views to its namesake -Mullach Dubh- the bracken and heather 'tweed tapestry' hillside behind

The furniture is all brand new, exceptionally comfortable and decked with cushions and cosy throws. There is an open log fire with full log and coal baskets. With have free broadband wifi, a good library of books, DVDs, CDs, videos and books.

The solid wood dining table has 6 generous places and the chairs have padded cushions for maximum comfort. Views to the garden and hills beyond can be enjoyed whilst dining

The kitchen is newly fitted out with new white goods and worktops. As we are keen cooks we have ensured that it is fully equipped to suit every cook's needs, with quality cookware and table ware

Mullach Dubh - more Living: Upstairs is a double bedroom with en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has double or twin beds and there is a large family bathroom. All bedlinen is exceptionally good 100% cotton and there are plenty of fluffy towels. The new wardrobes and cupboards have loads of storage space and masses of hangers. The cot can be located in either bedroom.

The whole house is full of stunning examples of local artists', photographers' and craftspeople's work to complete the finishing touches to this beautiful and sophisticated holiday home.

The south facing garden catches the sun all day long and is a real sun trap, and there is a good supply of garden furniture, sun loungers and BBQ. The terrace offers spectacular views to Mullach Dubh, with its ever changing light

Craobh Haven: The village and marina were built some 25 years ago; the harbour created by ingeniously joining together a few small islands with a causeway, giving a stunning walk with frequent sightings of seals, sea birds, otters and eagles. There are wonderful views to the many Inner Hebridean islands and the famous Corryvreckan, the world's third largest whirlpool. Fishing boats work from the harbour and fresh seafood can be bought straight from the boats.

The Lord of the Isles pub has been newly taken over and refurnished, serves excellent food and is a WiFi internet point. Its windows and terrace offer spectacular views across the marina's many boats and harbour to the sea and islands beyond. The perfect place to 'ooh and aaah' at the unbelievable beautiful sunsets!

The village shop is well stocked and The Giving Tree gift shop/art gallery has successful exhibitions of professional local artists' work. The Lunga Riding Stables offer natural horsemanship from beautiful Appaloosa horses.

Guestbook comments from the manager
We had a very good time here at this lovely house and the beautiful landscape around it. Also the weather was "unScottish" - sunny and warm! We went to Oban and had some amazing fish-meal at the end of the pier, also bought some local whiskey. The walk up behind Ardfern was great, even if it was one big swamp in places.

And did you know that famous 007 - James Bond shots were done here in the area, as my husband got told by another tourist. The children loved the horse-riding most! We were also glad we took the effort to go to Glencoe, even though it's a long journey for the kids - what an amazing landscape.

QUIET RETREAT IN A STUNNING SETTING

  • 4 of 5
Situated on the west coast of the Scottish mainland, Craobh Haven offers a fine getaway from the frenetic pace of modern life. This two-storey house is clean, well-equipped and cozy, featuring a charming fireplace, comfortable beds and relaxing furnishings. Hostesses Louisa and Mandy provide detailed possibilities for day trips and out-of-the-way adventures in the region and excellent recommendations for dining. Being fairly handy to the Isle of Seil, the busy port of Oban, the lovely villages of Ardfern and Kilmartin as well as the profoundly moving Glencoe, the house at Craobh Haven provides a good base of operations for exploring the region to the east and south of Loch Linnhe. Following Mandy's and Louisa's combined wisdom as well as that of some of the locals, we did not have a single dining disappointment. We left the area without getting to all of the establishments we wished to visit in Oban alone. Don't miss the Oban Distillery tour! If the opportunity presents itself, catch one of the Caledonian MacBrayne ferries from Oban to one of the Hebrides. If pressed for time, a short passage to the Isle of Mull is in order. There is no end to the beauty of western Scotland, where the mountains seem to come right down to the sea and the Scots serve as the most amiable hosts on earth.

EXCELLENT, WELL APPOINTED, IDEAL TOURING BASE

  • 5 of 5
A lovely flat, spacious, well appointed, within driving distance of much of Argyle area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is an ideal base for those, like us, touring the region by car, and would be lovely for those who enjoy hiking in beautiful seaside surroundings, although some might find the site a wee bit remote.

Owner's Response: Thank you Julia s. for your kind words on the Home-Away Review, and also for the wonderful comments you left in our Visitors Book. And Jo, our housekeeper, really appreciated your note thanking her for the delicious scones.

We are concerned at your comment of "no further comment from landlady or housekeeper" in your Home-Away Review. Over the many years we have had Mullach Dubh as a holiday home, all our guests have appreciated that we have left them in peace to enjoy their holiday as a family or group of friends. We are all always available at any time to be contacted if there are any questions we can answer or a problem within the house. So we are very disappointed to receive such a low score (3 stars) when you had such a wonderful stay in Mullach Dubh and found it a beautiful house to stay in. 99% of our scores are 5 stars.

I have contacted you privately by email, and I would be really grateful if you could let me know what more you would have liked us to do, we do not like the idea of having a disappointed guest. And we are always look for ways to make our offering as perfect as possible, so your feedback would be really useful to us.

Thank you - Louisa

LOVELY, COMFORTABLE, HOMELY COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
Mullach Dubh is a most comfortable cottage that one could happily live in permanently. It is well furnished and equipped with everything you might need for a self-catering stay. We especially appreciated the log fire in the evenings. A lovely local person ensures that it is spotless upon arrival and is on hand to provide any assistance if required.
The marina, pub and shop are but a stroll away. The pub offers good food and, naturally, a good selection of Malts!
This is a beautiful part of Western Scotland and there is lots to do and see locally and plenty of good cafes and restaurants to sample. A visit to Oban is a must, as is the £7.50 tour of the Oban distillery, even if you are not a connoisseur of Malt Whisky.
Would enthusiastically recommend.

LOVED IT!

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed staying at this cosy, beautiful and peaceful cottage. It had everything we needed. We were greeted with some wonderful scones. The house was clean and the facilities were just as they are described. We only had problems with the internet access.
It was the perfect location for us!
Thank you so much!

Craobh Haven between Oban and Lochgilphead is a stunningly beautiful, peaceful tranquil marina village. It has many walks, drives, unspoilt beaches, sea, lochs and views. Arguably this area is the most beautiful in all Argyll and has the best seafood, fish and local meat in many restaurants, cafes and shops. Thriving Oban, with its busy shopping centre, restaurants, ferries to Hebridean islands, is on the way to Glencoe and Fort William. Perfect area for walking, golfing, cycling or wildlife watching. A great day out is the Mull of Kintyre boasting Macrihanish Golf Course, surfing beaches, wide golden sands, whisky trails, great food. Great location for island hopping too - all the inner and outer Hebridean islands- Mull, Iona, Skye, Islay, Jura, the Uists and many more.
