Celebrate the best in indoor/outdoor living in this spacious and well-kept ground floor unit in Keauhou Akahi! Conveniently situated on south Ali’i drive, the condo is 1/3 mile from Keauhou bay and less than one mile from the Keauhou Shopping center. Unlike northern Kona, Keauhou is very lush and green - it is where the Hawaiian Royalty, the Ali’i, once spent their leisure time! This sought-after location is perfect for golfers, cyclists, fishermen, water sports-enthusiasts and adventure seekers, as well as those desiring some well-deserved R&R. The Kona coast is the drier part of the island - less rain = more fun for you!
Being a ground level unit, the natural breeze keeps the condo cool and comfortable year round. A fully equipped kitchen will allow you to take advantage of the island’s fresh produce and fish while viewing the sunset. Extra linens and beach towels are available at your convenience.
The covered lanai has a gas BBQ, ample outdoor seating, and a retractable sun shade, with splendid ocean views. One advantage of this unit is the private garden - where you will find beautiful flowers and herbs growing, birds enjoying the birdbath and geckoes climbing the drainpipes. The grounds are very well kept with mature landscaping, reminiscent of a botanical garden. Across the driveway, the saline pool is picturesquely situated on the Kona Country Club. Watch golfers tee off at the 9th hole you soak up the sun poolside. Rinse off from the ocean or beach in the open-air hot/cold shower adjacent to the pool.
In this location, a car isn’t a necessity; but if you do, there is secure and shady parking nearby the unit. Both the Hele-On bus and the Keahou Resort open-air trolley stop close by on Ali’i Drive. Many local beaches and attractions are accessible via public transit. The Keahou shopping center has everything you will need - grocery and drug stores, farmer’s market, cinema, post office and restaurants.
Indulge your senses in local finds from the twice weekly farmer’s markets, each in walking distance. Go taste freshly roasted Kona coffee at a local plantation. Snorkel in crystal-clear Kahalu'u bay. Watch dolphins from an outrigger canoe. Visit the historical City of Refuge. Cycle on the same roads as the Ironman. Explore the ocean on a stand up paddle board. Fish for tuna. Visit the vivacious live volcano. Swim with manta rays. Be awakened by soft bird song. Experience the magnificent Hawaiian sunset. This is YOUR paradise!

We retired, bought this condo and started having the best times of our lives! I never thought I would be racing outrigger canoes at my age, but wow what fun it has been! We spent the first 4 months or so here without a car and the location is so perfect for walking or biking to whatever you need. We have 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren in CA so we go back and forth and open up the condo to others when we're not here. Life is Good!
Diane Neubert purchased this condo in 2005
We chose this complex because of the beautiful peaceful grounds, friendly neighbors and we had already fallen in love with Keauhou Bay and were so excited to find a place so close to it. We love having the grocery store so close and a post office, movie theater and pharmacy within walking distance. We like the fact that there are only 48 units here and that it has a secluded off the beaten path feel to it.
My favorite benefit is to walk to the ocean and enjoy it's beauty. I've fallen in love with outrigger canoe paddling and get on the water almost every day without getting in a car. My grandchildren absolutely love the pool here. Keauhou Akahi has a wonderful feeling to it-it feels like a little hometown.
This condo was perfect for us -- family of 4 with 2 teenage girls. The place is very spacious and our daughters enjoyed creating their own bedrooms with the sliding panel room-dividers. We were happy to have our own master bedroom/bathroom as well. We were able to cook all our meals in the well-equipped kitchen and do our laundry. Great ground floor corner location so we could enter/exit easily -- no stairs, car and swimming pool right outside the door. The condo location was very convenient for our activities both north & south of Kailua Kona, and we were glad not to be in the midst of the traffic and bustle of the downtown. It was fun to go just down the hill to the Sheraton at night where they shine bright lights on the water to attract rays. Only negative was that, with the louvered glass windows, it was a bit noisy in the morning with people talking outside, cars, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, etc.
Thank you so much for sharing your condo. The location was great... Everything was clos, it was quite, clean, and the neighbors were friendly and helpful.
This condo is well situated and appointed. We enjoyed our meals on the private lanai while watching geckos and birds dipping into the bird bath. The ground floor was very convenient - no stairs! Great proximity to the pool and the local owners were all very friendly. The extra "bedroom" gave each of us our space. Great location to set off on adventures for Volcanoes NP, snorkeling, or Kona. Walking distance to groceries & cinema. Shuttle bus ($2) stop to town nearby meant didn't always need the car. Bonus that it had a nutribullet as smoothies were a daily regimen in our preparations for IronMan! Have stayed in 8 different places (1 for each IronMan) and would definitely return to this one!
This is the perfect condo for the elderly as well as for children. It is conveniently located with the hotel and shopping just minutes away. The parking is just steps away from the condo and is under the shade. This unit is well equipped with lots of extras. The Keauhou Akahi is clean, quiet, a hidden treasure!!
This condo is in a great location for those looking to get outside of the heavy tourist area in Kona. The closest beaches are popular with locals and visitors alike. Our son (age 8) loved boogie boarding at la'aloa (aka white sands, aka magic sands) beach. It was great to have boards and snorkel gear provided at the condo so we did not have to rent.
The Sheraton resort, just a short walk down the hill, is a good place to grab a latte in the morning. They also have a nice restaurant that would be a perfectly romantic place to watch the sunset at dinner. But we just cooked simple meals in the well stocked kitchen and enjoyed the view from the covered porch of the condo... and we were very happy.
