Beautiful French Stone Villa with stunning countryside views, just minutes from historical sites and medieval villages. Wonderful heated salt water pool and Jacuzzi hot tub, that's just perfect after a day of sight seeing. Ideal for those seeking relaxation and outdoor activities. Les Hirondelles is a collection of buildings that was originally part of an Abbey dating back to the 17th century. The Mulberry Tree Villa at Les Hirondelles is located in the heart of the Dordogne just 6kms to Les Eyzies, 6kms to St. Cyprien, and 20 mins to Sarlat. Inside, the house is full of character and charm with oak beams and stone fireplaces. There are 2 large comfortable living rooms with TV's & DVD players. The kitchen is modern, well equipped, and even includes spices. Upstairs there are 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. 1 California King with an ensuite bathroom with a rain shower and seperate bath tub,1 Queen with an ensuite bathroom, 1 Queen and 2 Twins that share a bathroom . Down stairs there is a 5th bedroom, Queen size, and a WC. There is a spacious dining terrace to the back of the house with a huge Weber gas grill. You can relax in the swing in the gorgeous garden, surrounded by mature trees, plants, and beautiful flowers. Despite the tranquil location, we are within a short driving distance of many fascinating and historical sites in the Perigord Noir; beautiful villages and chateaux to explore; the Dordogne and Vezere rivers offering fishing and canoeing; as well as superb restaurants and shops. There are numerous vineyards of Bergerac for wine enthusiasts and there is a different local market situated in a nearby village or town for every day of the week. This is a wonderful home to enjoy and relax in, has all the amenities you could want, and close to everything. We hope to see you soon!!

We are within a short driving distance of many fascinating historical sites, such as Les Eyzies and the famous Font de Gaume caves, and the beautiful medieval town of Sarlat. There are stunning villages and Châteaux to explore as well as the Dordogne and Vezere rivers offering fishing, kayaking and canoeing. For wine enthusiasts we are close to the vineyards of the Bergerac area for wine-tasting expeditions and of course there are plenty of superb restaurants to experience the local cuisine. There is also a different local market situated in a nearby village or town for every day of the week. Sarlat throughout the summer has an extensive program of music, arts, night markets, fairs and activities for all ages. The town of Sarlat has a wonderful food market each Wednesday and Saturday. Also Le Bugue offers an organic market on Tuesday and St Cyprien on Sunday. For outdoor activities:

hot air ballooning, flying, kayaking, canoeing, cycling, golfing, hiking and hundreds of chateaux and caves to explore.

Notes

  • Rates are based on a group of 10. For smaller or larger groups, and stays of less than a week, please contact the owner for availability and rates. A 25% deposit is required with all bookings. A security deposit of 400 Euros is required, with the balance of payment 12 weeks in advance of the rental period. Rates are based on self-catering. A maid service is available on request at cost. The owners are responsible for cleaning the heated swimming pool, jacuzzi hot tub, and for the upkeep of the gardens and outerbuildings.The Heated Salt Water Pool is open from April until October. The Jacuzzi Hot Tub is open year round. We have 7 chickens and fresh eggs are provided free of charge (subject to availability).
  • Welcome pack provided on arrival. English-speaking representative on hand to answer any questions. Strictly no smoking in the house except on the patio. We provide a Tom Tom GPS free of charge. We know an excellent place that rents and delivers bicycles. We also have a local French Chef, that will come to the house and give cooking lessons. You can help as much as you want, or just watch and enjoy.

  • All bathrooms provide excellent facilities with modern white sinks and toilets. They each have their own hot water heaters for plenty of hot water. Bathroom 1 upstairs is ensuite to the spacious master bedroom and includes bath and separate rain shower, sink and wc. Bathroom 2 upstairs is ensuite to bedroom 2 and includes a rain shower, sink and wc. Bathroom 3 upstairs has a rain shower, wc and sink and serves bedroom 3 and 4. Bathroom 4 is downstairs and has a toliet and a sink All three bathrooms upstairs have been updated this year with rainfall showers. All bathrooms are provided with excellent quality towels, bath mats, and luxury robes.

  • There are 4 bedrooms upstairs with beautiful wood floors and oak beam ceilings. All are furnished with gorgeous quilts, comforters and excellent quality beds and linens. The master bedroom is very spacious with high ceilings, a california king size bed, ensuite bathroom with bath, wc, sink and separate rain shower. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed, ensuite bathroom with wc and rain shower and sink. Bedroom 3 has a queen size bed. Bedroom 4 has two single beds. Bedrooms 3 & 4 share a separate bathroom with wc, rain shower and sink. Bedroom 5 is downstairs and has just been remodeled. It has a orthopedic queen mattress, and has a wonderful view looking at the mulberry tree courtyard. All bedrooms have beautiful and high quality quilts and comforters, velux windows and their own wardrobes. There is a baby bed and a cot that are also available and can be placed in the bedrooms if requested for an additional cost.

Relaxing Retreat

This lovely home was our home base during our two-week stay in the Dordogne region. Our group included 4 adults and two children under 10. The house itself is very comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms are all well appointed. The highlight of our stay was the fantastic, heated salt water pool. The owners of the property, Linda and George, were always available for our needs and ready to recommend day trips, restaurants, etc. This was the perfect family vacation destination and we would happily stay here again. Additionally, the Dordogne offers countless hilltop towns with beautiful historic sites, two wonderful rivers for canoeing and swimming and a relaxed approach to life.

Beautiful cottage at Carmensac

We stayed for our third consecutive year at Mulberry Cottage and have enjoyed some of our best holidays at this lovely place. The cottage and gardens are beautifully presented and have excellent facilities. Linda and George, the owners, go out of their way to provide every comfort and are readily available for advice and tips about places to visit. Each time we have come to the cottage we have felt restored and refreshed by the quietness and tranquillity. We made good use of the lovely heated pool and Jacuzzi which are situated with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. There is also a small gym for the more energetic. Although this was our third stay we still found plenty of interesting new places to visit (with advice from Linda and George). Highlights included the gardens at Eyrignac and the castle at Beynac, as well as walks in the immediate surroundings of Carmensac. This is a most wonderful place with kind and generous hosts and we would love to return again.

Unforgettable Family Vacation

How good was it? We booked our next year's stay within a month of leaving!

This place has everything you could ever desire. A heated pool, hot-tub, BBQ, gym, modern kitchen, all in an authentic and peaceful surrounding. This is all made even better by possibly the most gracious hosts you could ask for. Within days of arrival our kids (3 and 6) were already referring to Linda and George and aunt and uncle.

From this property you can find an immense variety of activities all within a 10-20 minute drive away: castles, caves, cave paintings, gardens, kayaks, restaurants, art galleries, markets and more. But make sure you leave time to enjoy the property itself. For us it was perfect as it allowed both the ability to explore something new, and the comforts of home (yes, there is wi-fi on the property).

We stayed in the villa which has large clean bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, and lots of space should you be travelling with other family.

Looking forward to our next visit in 9 months, 6 days, and 4 hours. But who's counting?

Beautiful Villa in the heart of Perigord Noir

We loved our recent stay at Les Hirondelles. The location is fabulous in the heart of Perigord Noir. So many beautiful villages, caves & stunning destinations nearby. We stayed here to be central to the whole area & found so much in the immediate area that we will now have to return to see all that we missed! Linda & George were amazing hosts & so incredibly friendly. Very respectful of our space but always helpful with any queries we had. The house was wonderful with every amenity you could want. We have stayed in many villa rentals over the past 10 years & this is certainly up there with the best. We also had Dmitri cook a wonderfully authentic menu for us during our stay & it was one of the highlights of our 6 week journey. Don't hesitate....just stay here!

Restful stay in Dordogne

We had a wonderful stay at Mulberry Cottage in July with three children. The home is very well appointed and comfortable - we had the best sleep since our children were born! The hosts, George and Linda, made us feel absolutely at home and their knowledge of the area was fantastic! We truly enjoyed all of their recommendations in particular the local markets. Having Dimitri come to cook for an evening was also a wonderful highlight! It is highly recommended for a restful week yet with many wonderful options for day trips if you care to venture further afield.
