Beautiful, spacious villa in rolling hills and set in 4 acres looking south west down a valley studded with carob and olive trees, carpeted with wild flowers in Spring. This wonderfully peaceful location is only 7km from some of the finest beaches in the Algarve, close to the lovely towns of Castro Marim (5km) and Vila Real (7km). Spain is 10 mins by car and Seville 90 minutes.The glorious River Guadiana and its valley is close by and a drive north takes you to the small towns, vineyards & cork oaks of the Alentejo. Monte Gordo with its lively nightlife and casino is on the nearby coast, The villa is very well situated for those wishing to explore; or you may prefer to laze by the solar heated pool and to soak up the views from the various terraces, or shaded decking area where the main BBQ is placed. Surrounded by open countryside, our neighbour still farms with a mule and plough. The salt marshes around Castro Marim are renowned for birdwatching.2 fine golf courses are within 8km.

This part of the Algarve has uncrowded sandy beaches which are safe & clean. One of the loveliest stretches is at Praia Verde (7kms) with beach restaurants. Take a trip on the beautiful Guadiana river, or alongside on the stunning twisting road to Alcoutim where a small ferry will take you for tapas in Spain. Vila Real also has a ferry to Ayamonte in Spain where the nightlife is more boisterous. Villa Real has a fine marina & central square, is full of cafes, is famous for its towels and tablecloths and has an excellent market with freshly caught fish. There is an impressive sports complex, including tennis courts.Castro Marim lives in the past with its 2 castles,fine church & cafes. Sit here to watch the world go by slowly. East of Tavira sees more Portuguese than British tourists and prices are generally lower. The course at Castro Marim (5kms) is particularly good value. Our land is brilliant for birdwatchers; hoopoes,azure winged magpies, woodchat shrikes & many others all visit

Notes: In addition there are 6 sunbeds, 2 reclining chairs and a shower by the pool. There are many terraces, and 2 barbecues, one of which is in a large decked area with ample shade, close to the swimming pool. On the lower ground floor there is a large games room with table tennis, TV, freeserve and DVD and a second kitchen area. There is another television with freeserve and DVD in the living room. The swimming pool is 5m x 10m and is solar heated. There is plenty of space for sunbathing around the pool. A large roof terrace is excellent for observing the night sky.

Golf: The closest courses, in order of expense, are Castro Marim, (5km),with 27 holes, Quinta do Vale, designed by Seve Ballasteros, (7km), and Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus, (8km). Others within a 30 minute drive include Quinta da Ria, Quinta da Cima and Benamor. There are several more over the border in Spain.

Lovely place to stay

The villa is huge and has fantastic facilities. The kids get their own 'den' (the games room) and adults the sitting/dining room. The setting is beautiful - acres of land, view to die for, birds and wild flowers in the Spring. Really impressed and hope to return one day.
