Aloha and Welcome to Nanea Kai. We are very proud to share our 1,800 sqr. ft. island style home with you. As you drive past your wooden sun carved gates, you will enter into your own private sanctuary. Our family living room is made up of Hawaii's prized Koa wood. Many windows let the cool breeze through as well as EACH room has its own ceiling fan. Our large kitchen is a great gathering spot and has a granite counter island that everyone can gather around. As you walk out onto the wrap around entertainment deck, you will look into the 1,500 sqr. ft. thermal heated swimming pond. Our pond ranges from 2ft.- 10 f. at the deepest spot. This pond is fed from under ground springs from the ocean so it rises and falls with the tide. This is also a great filtering system that keeps the water very clean and clear and with a temperature that is normally in the 80's. This makes snorkeling in the pond a pleasure. We do supply some snorkeling equipment as well as a hot/cold out side shower. If you take a right outside our drive way, you will see a tunnel of trees which leads to tide pools as well as the breathtaking view of the ocean. Walk another 6 minutes and your will be at the Wai' Ope Fish Reserve. See so many colorful fish as well as the different colored corals. This is Not a place you will find packed with people. A 5 minute drive will take you to Ahalanui warm springs park . Pahoa is a 15 minute drive with quaint restaurants and to do your marketing. Hilo Town is 30 minutes away where you can visit the farmers market with all its exotic fruits for sale as well as souvenirs, surf shops, restaurants, diving rentals , ect.. Across the street is a black sand beach were you can watch the canoe teams practice or walk and look for beach glass. Then theres the Volcano National Park you want to visit. Walk through lava tubes and see the steam vents. The Volcano Golf course is right above the park as well as the Volcano Winery. If its night time lava cascading down the volcano you want to see, thats about a 20 minute drive from our home. Viewing is free and it opens to the public at 5 p.m. Bring a jacket, flashlight (theres some at the house) and water. Park rangers are there to make sure everyone is safe. My favorite thing to do is just lay by the pond , feed the fish and enjoy the sound of the ocean. Hope you'll visit us soon.

My husband and I always rented a home in Kopoho to get away. We love it so much we decided to buy one. Its like stepping back in time.
The constant sound of the ocean.
What a fantastic place! A few short steps and you're watching the sunrise over the ocean every morning! A few more steps and you're at one of the top snorkel spots on the Big Island. Great place to really get away (no cell phone /text coverage), but that was one of my favorite parts. There is WiFi and a house phone in the house.
The house was perfect (our kids wanted to move in) for our family of 6. The provided snorkel gear got great usage.
The nearby town of Pahoa is a pretty cool little place. Great bakery, Pele's Kitchen, the farmer's market on Sundays (make sure to visit Jeremy for fresh cut coconut with a straw.)
Also, just down the road at the very end is Uncle Robert's. Great island music and Kalua pork and cabbage from a local (look for her, she's low key in the middle of all the other marketeers) on Wednesday nights.
It is really "the last frontier " of Hawaii, which makes it a great place for people who want to get away from the tourists traps.
Kim was really easy to work with. We "got stuck" for a few extra days, and it was real easy to call her and get our time extended.
When we left, I forgot a couple of things, so I called her and she was right on it to get my items secured and even mailed back to me.
Mahalo, Kim! See ya next time!
We were surprised to see how cozy and clean the house was.
The kids had a blast in the tide pool which is directly in the backyard.
It is only a 2min walk to the ocean,
we had an amazing one week stay.
Definitely recommend this house for families with younger kids.
This house is fantastic! The house is very roomy with a big lanai and kitchen and has everything anyone could need, including an amazing lavarock-edged private swimming pond with crystal clear warm water, a unique feature that pictures don't do justice. We used it every day especially in the evening after an amazing day of snorkeling. This was our fifth trip to Kapoho and we would stay in this house again in the future when we come back. It is a very short walk to some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island and we have done ALL the snorkel spots on the island. Kapoho is remote which means it is quiet and uncrowded...many days we were the only snorkelers out there. The barbeque, outdoor shower, TV, utensils, kitchen fitout, everything is there for you. Our 12 days were fantastic and we recommend this home. Awesome for getting away from it all!
This home is so comfortable and very secure feeling! The location is wonderful especially if you want to get away from the touristy parts of Hawaii. Just a short walk to great snorkeling and without the people because you can get there before anyone else arrives to the pools. The pond in the back yard was awesome with the fish and for a quick cool down. The location of this house is in a very special place in Hawaii. My husband and I have been visiting all the islands for the last three winters, and really like this area.
My husband and I love Kopoho and we were very happy with this rental and it's location. We walked in the mornings, snorkeled in the afternoons and enjoyed every evening. PERFECT!!!
The house is clean and squared away. Plenty of room. Super quiet neighborhood. We hope to be back soon.
We did not know what to expect as we had never been to the Big Island before, let alone Pahoa/Kapoho. After the drive through amazing landscapes we arrived at our jungle home in awe of our surroundings. We felt right at home as we celebrated our Christmas here with a big turkey dinner, and bbq'd every night after. The house was clean and well looked after. We loved hanging out by the pond - the little fish really do nibble on your feet, something we all loved! We really enjoyed snorkeling as a family in the tidal pools so close by. The house is a great mid point to explore north to Hilo and the many hidden spots to the south. Owners were amazing, went out of their way for us. We really felt this is where we all started to unwind, relax and be together as a family and we all loved our stay! Mahalo Kim And Mark!
