Classic Napoleon III chateau set in 4 acres of parkland just outside the cathedral city of Coutances and ideally placed to visit all of Normandy’s top tourist sights, including Mont St Michel, the D-Day beaches and the Bayeux Tapestry. This beautiful petit chateau has 6 luxurious bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms. Downstairs there is a huge entertaining room (over 76 sq. m) with a stunning white baby grand piano. There French windows opening onto a sun drenched terrace. There is also a large kitchen, library with UK TV and a laundry room. The chateau can be rented on a self catering basis or B&B basis with daily cleaning. Whichever option you choose, we can arrange superb dinners, suppers, lunches and picnics each day. It is an ideal venue for celebrations, family get together, weddings or small business conferences.

    - Security deposit: There is no security deposit if hiring on a B&B basis. If hiring on a self catering basis there is a 1,000 euro security deposit that must be paid in cleared funds before arrival or in cash upon arrival. This amount will be refunded by a sterling or euro cheque within a week of departure.
    - Linen & towels: All linen and bath towels are included in the rental price.
    - Energy costs: Electricity and central heating oil are metered and are charged in addition for self catering bookings. There is oil fired central heating, a wood burner and open log fires in the salon and kitchen. The chateau is very cosy and warm in winter. For B&B bookings there is a daily energy charge of 20 euros between May and September and 60 euro between October and April. Energy charges are paid direct to the owner.
  • - Cleaning & catering: If you choose the B&B option there is a daily charge of €144 for breakfast and cleaning for up to 12 people. This charge is paid on arrival direct to the owner. If you hire the chateau for a week on a self catering basis there is a compulsory mid week cleaning charge of 75 euro. Daily cleaning and catering is available upon request for those hiring on a self catering basis.

    Children’s meals: With exclusive hire bookings you have the choice of dining together, or having a children’s supper in the kitchen between 5pm and 6pm. Children’s meals are 12 euro a head for two courses and a drink. Mothers are welcome to use the kitchen at anytime to prepare baby food.
  • Catering: The chateau has a drinks licence for when it is hired on a B&B/fully catered basis.

    Dinner: The dining room seats up to 14 people round one table. Superb 4-course candle-lit dinners are available from €45 a head. We have a restaurant licence for drinks, with bottles of wine from €14 to €150. Dinner is often served on the terrace in summer. Buffets can be arranged for larger parties. When we are doing the catering you can use our bar or pay a corkage charge of €10 a bottle for wine or €15 a bottle for champagne.

    Suppers: Simple kitchen suppers are available for parties of up to six – two course suppers cost €18. Dining room suppers are available for 1 to 14 people – two courses for €24. The lighter suppers are designed for the days when you can’t manage four courses!

    Lunches: Guests can use the kitchen to make light snacks during the day or lunches can be arranged from €12 a head.

    Picnics: Can be arranged with a day’s notice.

  • The chateau can sleep up to 13 guests in six ensuite rooms (four doubles, a twin and a triple). There is also a fold up bed for a child and three cribs for babies.

Notes: Outside: The chateau is set in four acres of parkland filled with trees that were planted at the same time as the house was built, in 1870. Many of the trees are evergreens of differing colours, giving a lovely backdrop at any time of the year. The grounds are surrounded by 30 foot laurel hedges, giving great privacy. There are two double gated entrances which allow you to drive in one and out of the other. There is also parking for dozens of cars, even more in summer when grassed areas can be used. In summer one can enjoy the 4.5metre splash pool available for use, cook on the barbeque, and relax on the deck chairs and around the seating/dining areas dotted around the grounds. There are also three swings in different parts of the garden.
