My husband & I opened No 10 having been in the group accommodation market for 10 years with a property in a rural location. We recognised that actually many people wanted town house accommodation, luxurious accommodation and that there was a lack of good accommodation in the town of Brecon itself.
I run Brecon Beacons Tourism - the tourism trade association for the Brecon beacons and am a Brecon Beacons Sustainable Tourism Champion which means i have worked with the the Green Tourism Business Scheme and am a National Park Ambassador.
We bought No 10 because of it's potential and location - a grand house in the middle of Brecon, close to the cathedral, the canal and all the amenities in the town. The house is huge, surprising and a real treat - we love showing people around when they first arrive.
No 10 has seven bedrooms accessed off 3 different staircases allowing different members of any group staying to have their own privacy whilst enjoying the very large and comfortable main rooms. The house has a first floor drawing room opening onto a peaceful and secluded garden which had a view of the cathedral one way and a glimpse of the Beacons in the distance the other way.
No 10 is situated in the charming market town of Brecon in the heart of The Brecon Beacons National Park. Brecon has a cathedral just 100 yards from the house and there is immediate access to riverside walks and the canal towpath. Known for it's wealth of art galleries and historic Georgian buildings Brecon is a wonderful location for your stay. Brecon town also boasts two museums, a theatre, cinema and large leisure centre. The Brecon Beacons National Park offers wonderful walking and mountain biking as well as horse riding and trekking. Canoes can be hired on local rivers or activity providers can be booked for the more adventurous wanting to try gorge walking, climbing and caving.
Close by is the world renowned town of books - Hay on Wye as well as the historic town of Llandeilo to the west. Local castles include Carreg Cennan and Tretower Court. The area is just north of the industrial south Wales valleys so visitors can also explore BIg Pit and the Blaenavon World Heritage site.
