Beautiful 6 bedroom chateau dating back to 1477 abounding with charm and character. The 15 acre estate includes beautiful wooded countryside that is inhabited by an abundance of wildlife including rare birds and red squirrels. The chateau is on the border where the Dordogne meets the Lot et Garonne; the River Dropt, runs through the park and acts as the boundary between these departments. Whilst tranquil, it is only a few kilometres from a lovely bastide town offering all the usual facilities and 20 min from Bergerac. This splendid family house is furnished with antiques and 'objets d’art', providing a high standard of comfort within the elegant rooms. The grand salon has a beautiful plasterwork ceiling and marble fireplace, whilst the dining room, originally the kitchen in medieval times, has been sympathetically restored.

The handsome bastide town of Castillonnes is worth a visit for its narrow medieval lanes, church and mid-August acrobatic high-wire acts above the main square. It's 3km SE from the chateau and the nearest place for the butcher, baker and candlestick maker! There are tennis courts here and a Tuesday market. Other places to visit include the little market town of Eymet (night market on Tuesday in high summer), the pretty market town of St Foy la Grande on the banks of the River Dordogne, and both Bergerac and Périgueux for excellent French shopping. Activities can easily be arranged: bicycle hire, horse riding, canoeing, and golf on the championship course at Château des Vigiers. The area is abundant in history with many castles and medieval towns - Sarlat, Montpazier and Monflanquin. Les Eyzies is famous for its caveman dwellings and paintings and of course the many vineyards such as Monbazillac, St. Emilion and Cahors.

  • Catering: Available at the chateau by local catering companies (traiteurs) - typically this will cost from 30 euros per person for a 4-course meal.
    - Alternatively it is possible to hire a cook from the local village/town who can do any cooking that you wish during your stay – they are also usually happy to buy the food and clear up afterwards. Costs are typically between 10 and 15 euros per hour.

    Maid service: This is provided every other day during your stay.
