Great family location

Ground floor unit with folding doors (about 12 feet) leading to the patio for dining outside. Full kitchen to prepare your meals. And don't forget the community BBQ. Great for families so the kids can play outside on the grass in the evening and you don't need to leave the room. There is a little car noise but you are far the road. Pools are close by and the best part is, you are not waiting for a elevator or upset you forgot something and you need to go back. We could quickly get our lunches or refill our "beverages" and the kids never needed to leave the pool area. Snorkeling right from the beach was some of the best on the island and you don't need to leave to do it. Dukes Restaurant is right on the property which has great food. Make a reservation!! They are busy. Especially if you plan to eat dinner there we you come in. The room was clean and ready when we arrived. I was happy with the quality and room size. There was floating tubes, boogie boards, beach chairs and a air mattress in the closet. We did have a problem with the back door. We called and within minutes, someone was there to fix it. This hotel offers lots to do and you do not want to leave the property. The only downside is that this is owner owned unit.So when you lock yourself out of the room, the front desk can not just give give you another key. They sent me to security and they took care of me. Not a big deal, as long as your aware of it. If you remember your key, this will not be a problem. We stayed here for 5 days and were happy every day and never thought that we picked the wrong room. We will be be back to Maui and we know we will stay here again. Farzie was great to work with and answered all of questions quickly. Thanks for everything Farzie.

Perfect Unit for kids

We just returned from a week in this unit. If you have kids, this is a perfect unit for you. The back wall opens to a Lanai and from the Lanai you step onto a huge open lawn. Our kids (7 ans 3) played soccer, kickball etc right outside out Lanai and we could watch them the entire time, while sitting at the outside table relaxing. It is wonderful to walk out the back of the unit to the pool/restaurant which is steps away as well ask keep sand toys, boogie boards outside so you don't have to drag them into the room. No need to go through the hallways to get anywhere, although this unit is also a perfect location to the lobby/fish feeding/kids club. The week we went was a bit overcast so we would have been pretty cooped up had it not been for this perfect unit. Additionally the unit had everything needed for cooking and serving. I couldn't think of anything that was not provided. Our friends with kids the same ages stayed on another floor and wish they had a ground unit! We will definitely stay in this until again!

Our family just enjoyed a wonderful Hawaiian vacation staying at Honua Kai in condo Hokulani #140. We loved the place – it’s a newer unit that’s tastefully furnished and with a full kitchen. We used the kitchen often and found it functional and well stocked with utensils and tableware. The unit is a on the first floor and doesn’t have an ocean view, however we found this to be a plus as walk-by foot traffic was minimal as we relaxed and enjoyed the lanai. Honua Kai is beachfront property and it’s a short walk to Kaanapali beach. The resort has a restaurant on the property, although it’s a bit pricey it’s a great place to get a drink and watch the sunset. Our 9 year old loved the swimming pools and water slide. We all enjoyed the beach and warm ocean water. We would definitely rent this unit again.

Great vacation at the Honua Kai

I went on a girls' trip in May and stayed at the Honua Kai. I loved the property so much that I decided to book it for our family vacation. We stayed for 8 days and the location of this particular unit was so convenient. I wanted a ground floor unit for convenience sake but I had concerns about noise, views and natural light during the daytime. I was pleasantly surprised with this unit - it is located in the Hokulani tower facing the Konea tower so it offered plenty of sunshine, it was very quiet and we could walk out on our lanai and onto the grassy area between the two towers. It was conveniently located near the elevator (bonus when shopping and bringing home groceries) and doors to the courtyard that led to Aina market and the pool. I would highly recommend this condo for families up to 4 if you are looking for a clean unit that is conveniently located within this property. We will definitely consider this unit for our next trip out to Maui.

We just returned from 10 days at #140. This was our
3rd time at Honua Kai. We have previously stayed on
the 6th and 7th floor and was a little concerned about
privacy on the ground level.

Verdict is we loved unit. #140 it is in the newer and nicer
Hokulani tower and opens up to the back side of the building
which is much more private and fun to walk out into the soft
warm night air. The Owners were great to work with. I'm so
glad we stayed in #140 and would absolutely Reccomend it in
a heart beat! You cannot go wrong with the Honua Kai and with
this unit.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
