The garden, synonymous of privacy and nature.:
Outside there is plenty of space for leisurely summer living (4000 square mt!).
The enclosed gardens mean that children are safe to play and you are also completely private – not being overlooked by any of the neighbors. As holiday-rentals itself states: 'privacy means never having to hang the Do Not Disturb sign'.
The access on the roof provides a stunning top view of the area: surrounded by olive trees you can watch the sunset on the sea!
Most of the times fishermen get back with their boats during this time and quietness reigns. I personally find the roof to be the most romantic spot of the villa.
The area (Lecce and the Salento of Puglia):
The wide selection of superb local restaurants is sure to tempt you out in the evening to enjoy the fresh local cuisine and wonderful wines. Its position is ideal for exploring this fascinating area – the towns of Gallipoli, Leuca, Lecce, Otranto are all just a short drive away. And also all the local food festivals, the natural parks, the dolmens, menhirs and castles, the ancient Baroque boroughs are only a few things not to be missed out.
One of the strong points of this land is the coast. There are lots of Caribbean style crystal clear beaches, some of them rated in the top beach of Italy. And yet, land and water caves to explore, funny carved cliffs as sculpture, small islands to explore, snorkeling spots, wind-wake and kite surfing activities.
I think the most important thing to live when coming in Salento is the culture of its people. The life style, habits and philosophy are as much fascinating as the attractions and see sights because they have been preserved over ye
Travel: getting here and getting around:
If you come from abroad the best and cheapest way to get in Salento is by flying to 'Brindisi Papola Casale (BDS)' airport. Ryanair company flyes from London Stansted with very low fees every. If you book in advance your flight and you are lucky sometimes you can even get the ticket for less than £20 (taxes included). During summer period there are other flights that depart from different countries.
For Italian internal flights please check MyAir company too. Once you approach the airport you can catch a bus from Brindisi to Gallipoli or alternatively get to Brindisi train station and take the train to Lecce. Once you are in Lecce train station you can take a train or a bus to Gallipoli. From Gallipoli, train station you can catch a 'summer bus' coach to get in Mancaversa or just call a taxi. The bus service only operate during summer period. To take the most of your holiday I would personally recommend to hire a car from Brindisi or Lecce. Please, contact me if you need more help.
Ski:
There is no snow, but the water sport activities are loads (water ski included)!
Salento is a well known place for kite surfing and water sports. Riders come from all over Italy to surf on these crystal clear waters or just to learn this sport from Salento kite surfing schools. Best kite surfing spots are Porto Cesareo, Gallipoli, Otranto, Torre Specchia, Casalabate, T.S. Giovanni and other minor ones.
Golf:
The closest golf club is in Gallipoli which is just few minutes drive away from the house.
A nice golf club I recommend is in Acaya, close to the natural WWF park 'le cesine'.
It is situated in the Lecce area, still in Salento. Please, check the site out.
Other Activities:
kite surfing, Theme paths (food, wine, Baroque art, boroughs, etc)
