This fairy-tale chateau is in the heart of the beautiful Normandy countryside only 30mins away from glorious sandy beaches opposite Jersey. Dating from the 18thC, the chateau is run as an informal guest house by its English proprietors. The building has many unusual features and lots of space - giant oak beams, Douglas redwood floors, 18thC local stone fireplaces, an unusual dome shaped kitchen and 5 sets of French windows. The large hall, oak paneled dining room and sitting room can all be enjoyed by visitors, as can the 3 acres of grounds. There are 2 further properties on the estate which can be rented in various combinations. The 5 bedroom Carriage House is south facing and forms part of the front garden courtyard. The Mews Cottage overlooks the main courtyard and has 2 bedrooms and a 3rd mezazzine bedroom.

There is a labyrinth of beautiful ancient walkways, for which we have detailed maps. - Shopping at the daily regional markets, particularly the one in medieval Bricquebec on Monday (9am to 12.30pm) - A trip across the oyster beds by amphibious craft to Tatihou island, an ancient penal colony and bird sanctury off St. Vaast la Hougue. - The great Bayeux tapestry exhibition is only 45 minutes away. - The landing beaches and museums. - The Memorial Peace Museum at Caen. - Wine tasting in the Normandy Wine Warehouse in Cherbourg, and browsing the boutiques in centre ville. - A flutter at Cherbourg casino, rounding off the night in the local nightclub.

    - Security deposit: €750. This is paid in cash on arrival and will be refunded subject to damage inspection-bills and breakages will be deducted after inspection prior to departure.
    - Linen & towels: All linen and bath towels are charged at £10 per person - only possible out of school holidays. You are welcome to bring your own towels and bed sheets if you wish.
    - Energy costs: Included in the rental price except in winter.
    - End of stay cleaning: Included. Please leave the property in the state that you found it or a cleaner can be arranged.

    - Regrettably, the owner cannot accept bookings for stag parties or all male groups. The owner will refuse entry to the property to these groups.
  • The owners can help with breakfast, and for more formal occasions they have a local English speaking chef that can be hired out (James is immensely popular).
