Photos and Description of the Plymouth vacation house rental
House, 2 Bedrooms+Den, 2.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 4-6), WIFI

A light filled mountain retreat overlooking pond on 22 acres. Very comfortable for 2 couples, can accommodate more. Located in historic Plymouth, birthplace and resting place of President Calvin Coolidge.

Enjoy skiing/sledding in Winter, listening to peepers in Spring, hiking in Summer, beautiful colors in Fall. Gather round the fire pit at night and watch the stars come out or stay in by the fireplace: your choice.

In Winter Plymouth is a great ski location - minutes from Okemo and Killington. Snowmobiling and VAST trails are even closer. Sledding is on the doorstep.

In Summer hunt for berries on the property: blackberry, wild strawberry and mountain blueberry. Explore Plymouth and get a glimpse of Vermont as it used to be in Coolidge's time. Pan for gold down the hill at Plymouth Five Corners, once the site of a thriving town during the gold rush but now taken back by nature.

Great food and restaurants are close at hand: local organic produce most of the year, artisanal cheeses, local beers...even local wine.

The house is well maintained, with quality furniture, WIFI, and a spectacular open plan living/kitchen/dining area on the second floor. There is a central fireplace and lots of windows with views over the mountains and into the woods. Glass doors lead onto the deck and an outdoor barbecue. The deck is a screened seating/dining area in the summer months. On the same level there is a separate second lounge/ den/ office area with large windows and views and an adjacent shower room. This room has a queen sofa bed that converts to queen bed and two of the living room sofas convert to single beds.

The two bedrooms are on the first floor. The master bedroom with queen bed has a bathroom en suite. The second bedroom with queen bed has a bathroom a few feet down the hall. The laundry room is on this level.

The attached garage is a real plus in Winter. No clearing snow off the car in the morning, drive straight in walk into the house in the evening.

The house is supplied with organic linens for the beds and bathroom, paper products, cleaning supplies, and toiletries.

A mile off the beaten track and set in 22 acres of yard and forest this modern contemporary home allows comfortable, easy living for a family or group in a light filled space.

Why Jill Davies chose Plymouth

It's 3.5 hour drive from CT making it perfect for a weekend skiing. You can choose to ski at Killington, the Beast of the East, or the more family friendly Okemo resort. In summer it is a great escape with the charming town of Woodstock just 30 minutes away.

What makes this house unique

It's a 20 minute drive to Killington Skyeship or Okemo Jackson Gore. There is unlimited hiking, biking and VAST trails on the doorstep. The house sits on a great hill for tobogganing, We love listening to the peepers in the spring.

Quintessential Vermont

5 of 5
Submitted: January 14, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
We spent a wonderful week at this house between Christmas and New Years and hated to drive away. This house is perfectly situated along a secluded country road with beautiful views of the mountains and countryside. We had close to 2 feet of snow over the time we were there and it was a winter wonderland. It is hard to expand on the other great reviews of this house without sounding repetitive. Can't say it better than Rob from Connecticut. The house and location just provide the perfect representation of that quintessential stay in rural Vermont in the winter. We have stayed at a number of VRBO rentals over the years and this place was better "equipped" than any of the others. We found that we enjoyed eating at the house more than going to some of the wonderful restaurants where we had planned to dine. The owner was very accommodating, responsive and enjoyable to work with. It is always nice to find a place that exceeds your expectations and makes you want to return year after year. Can't wait to get back.

Wonderful home in quiet, beautiful surroundings.

To return after a day’s skiing, gaze across a mountain vista, light the fire and cozy in for a home cooked evening meal knowing that you can do it all again tomorrow – bliss.

This beautiful, immaculate house has a very homely feel to it. The large windows afford fantastic views across the mountains and there is a wonderful feeling of space throughout. The view of the night sky from the outdoor firepit was fantastically clear and sledding down the hill from here was fast and fun.

Direct access to the inside through the two car garage is a definite plus, likewise having dry, warm gear for the next day, courtesy of the drying room. The kitchen is very well equipped with a large array of cooking utensils plus an extensive range of spices on offer, so you don’t end up having to buy them. We found plenty of novel and interesting games to play in the evenings sat around the fire, including the classics like scrabble.

The owners have set this house up with great attention to detail - for instance, the digital outside temperature gauge allowed us each morning to get a good idea of the likely conditions on the resort slopes, as they are at roughly the same elevation. The twenty minute ride to the lifts offers fantastic views, and the choice of skiing is excellent. If you don’t know the area, head for Killington for more challenging runs, and Okemo for long, rolling blues, where access via Jackson Gore is the more civilised approach.

Overall, we could find nothing much to fault about this home nestled in the hills - it is everything the description implies. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, comfortable location at a very reasonable price, but still within easy reach of some great skiing and restaurants. And if
we had to recommend one, it would be the restaurant at the Simon Pearce Pottery just outside Woodstock.

BEST OF VERMONT...

We stayed over the thanksgiving holiday. What an amazing view! The house is very clean and has been very well thought out with all you need to relax. To sit in front of such a beautiful fireplace and relax with my family was priceless. The decor is very welcoming and relaxing. The location is nice and secluded away from any disturbances and the silence with the view is absolutely breath taking! All the beds and couches were very comfortable. Bathrooms were clean and spacious. The kitchen was very well stocked with a wide range of cooking utensils making our thanksgiving dinner perfect and easy to prepare. The collection of movies, music and games were perfect of which my family made full use of during our stay. Jill is great and really knows how to make things right! Thank you for everything!

P.S. we mean it when we say the BEST OF VERMONT!!!!

Amazing Gorgeous Property!

We could not have been happier with this home! Or with the owner! (lovely, personable & helpful) We were a family of 3 couples and were actually in a bind because our original home rental (not far away) had so many issues we had to leave last minute. The owner here responded quickly, let us come see her place, gave us restaurant ideas and directions and let us leave our things while she finished getting the house ready. Modern and immaculately kept, this beautiful home with its indoor fireplace, outdoor firepit and completely stocked kitchen (we made awesome meals) not only saved us from a possible vacation disaster but overpowered it and left us with lovely vacation memories. Details like organic soaps and lotions added a luxurious feel. All of us agreed we wished we could've stayed longer and would come back anytime we could - the beautiful secluded grounds with its autumn colored birch trees, pond & deck all added to the enjoyment of this property! This is an awesome place and at an amazing rate - anyone who's here will treasure their stay!
