Bad Value

Lets see. Where do we start? Upon arriving, the 1st thing we noticed was the beautiful western view of the mountains we were promised was blocked by the 6 ft high chain link fence with ripped and torn green dust shielding flagging in the wind. There was no mention of this fence in a phone conversation with the owner when I specifically asked him if I could exercise my dog in the field accross the street. The fence was actually more attractive than the 6 ft high weeds and debris that it tried to conceal.
Our next surprise was when we called the owner to get the internet code and were informed that there was none. I believe his response was " our ad doesn't say we HAVE internet" and " we don't need internet, we have Iphones". My response was "your ad doesn't state clearly that there is no internet and it isn't really about what you need, its about what your renters need isn't it? They agreed to have it installed at our expense and take it off the deposit. Additional $200.00
Surprise #3. There is a beautiful fitness center, huge pool and 5 tennis courts, but we're not allowed to use any of them because our owner doesn't pay into that HOA. They were nice enough to sell my wife and I two month memberships. Additional $120.00
Now for the condo itself. It was clean and tidy but to be kind, I'll say sparce. The kitchen cupboards are old and the drawers all stick. The Costco futons were hard as rocks and I had to get a screwdriver to tighten up the wobbly chairs at the dinner table. There was an ironing board but no iron (additional $25.00). There were only 4 wine glasses so we bought 4 more(additional $20.00)
There was no dresser in the master bedroom and we had to salvage old reading lamps from the garage to be able to read at night. All the patio furniture was for sitting- not a lounge chair to be had. The beds had plastic cover sheets with memory foam top covers. This combined with the polyester sheets made for hot and sweaty nites.
Clearly we were dissapointed with this place. For the rent they are charging, it could and should be alot better. My advice is to shop hard. During our 9 weeks there, we found plenty of 2 bed, 2 bath places for $2,000-$2,200 that were far more comfortable than this. This place is adequate for a weekend stay by falls way short of the mark for a long term vacation
Owner's Response: The above review was a complete fabrication and was written as an act of retaliation. They were simply upset about a nonrefundable pet fee of $150. It is clearly stated on our VRBO site that there is a pet fee. I am so glad that we did charge a pet fee because their so called lap dog ended up being a big lab per our neighbors. We purchased our condo in Jan 2012 and completely remodeled it. It has all new tile throughout, new appliances, linens, refinished cabinets, basicly everything in the condo is new. We take much pride in our condo and find it very comfortable as do all our other friends and guests. We do everything possible to make our renters happy. Pictures show our beautiful green space out our back patio and the beautiful view of the mountains from our front patio. Please call or E-mail with any questions.
