Calella de Palafrugell:
The town has a choice of three great beaches all of which have sand and shallow to gradual increase in depth which makes them very family user friendly.The sea front is a necklace of tiny coves with a backdrop of white washed arches and a hotch potch of beautiful terraced houses built around the beginning of the twentieth century all varying in size and colour which does make it one of the most attractive sea fronts on the Costa Brava.
The town remains unspoiled having not succumbed to the mass tourism of southern Costa Brava and southern Spain and therefore retains its natural beauty as does all of the surrounding area.
Just 4km inland is the larger town of Palafrugell which offers a large range of restaurants,bars and supermarkets.This town has a large Plaza Mayor which has numerous bars around the periphery and very often during the summer months offers live entertainment on the central stage. This town is regularly serviced by local buses from Calella.

The Mediterranean sea offers great opportunities to see the beautiful and varied sea life and coral and the area around Calella is no exception. It is great for snorkeling around any of the local beaches and it is possible to hire equipment for scuba diving both alone or under supervision.
It is also possible to hire boats in the surrounding area.

Figueres and Barcelona:
Figures is a town around half an hours drive from Callela and is the home to some fascinating works of the famous surrealist artist Salvador Dali.The are housed in the world famous Dali Museum and is well worth a visit whilst in the area.Connected to this is the Dali house at Port Ligat, Cadaques and the castle at La Pera all of which is in close proximity and very memorable.
Barcelona lies about 120kms south and can be accessed by car,bus or train. Again this is well worth a days visit to see the works of Gaudi and all the other places that makes this city among the top ten of Europe.
More locally there are numerous unspoiled medieval villages to visit such as PALS, MONELLS, PERATALLADA and BESALU all of which are totally unspoiled and charming.You mat choose to travel a little further to the magnificent PYRENEES MOUNTAINS or the Republic of ANDORRA.
