Kitsilano is a relaxed, safe and friendly neighbourhood close to downtown and beaches. Originally a Greek neighbourhood it has retained much of its European feel, especially on the high street with great Greek restaurants and food shopping.

Relax on the patio with a glass of wine or have a BBQ, in our beautiful, secluded garden. If you have children they can freely play in the safety of a fully fenced, child friendly, garden. Return through the patio doors into the well designed living area with its big comfy sectional sofa to read a good book or watch television on the flat screen television or a movie. For those wanting to cook there is a brand new kitchen with dishwasher and gas range. If you don't feel like cooking walk 2 blocks to a large selection of eateries, deli's or neighbourhood bars. Vancouver is well known for great restaurants and many are close by, or a convenient 10 minute drive to downtown. Laundry is not a problem with a separate laundry room with brand new washer/dryer.

The master bedroom with a queen bed is conveniently separated from the twin-bedded room. Alternately, for the restless sleeper, fifth person, or extra guest there is a twin bed in an office area. The new bathroom has a bath with shower and large sink.

We have had many guest who are relocating from other countries and they always appreciate the excellent quality of amenities provided (e.g. iron/ironing board, good linens, towels, good kitchen utensils, and plenty of dishes, pots and pans, basic grocery staples such as olive oil, tea, sugar, etc.).

For those visiting family, feel free to bring them over to enjoy a BBQ knowing there is plenty of room, inside and outdoors to entertain them.

Often described as a 'haven in Kitsilano'. Especially for those looking for an alternative to hotels or wanting to be close to family.

We are a professional couple with adult children who enjoy our eclectic neighbourhood as well as time at our holiday home on an isolated coastal island. We very much enjoy vacationing families staying here, as well as those relocating from other countries. We have 4 sons and 4 grandchildren and love getting together with them when we can. We love travel and try and visit Europe each year.

Kitsilano is close to everything while maintaining a true neighbourhood feel. Guests frequently comment on its proximity to everything and the large number of activities and attractions accessible to them during their stay. The are also great restaurants and theatres close by. It is also a 'walking' or 'cycling' city, so a car is not always necessary.

What makes this house unique

Location, location, location. Relaxed neighbourhood, safe for strolling. Wonderful gardens and coffee shops everywhere. Wonderful beaches within walking distance. Friendly neighbours and lots to do. Our personal favourite is our early morning walks on the beach.

A Great Base in a Lovely Neighbourhood

We spent two weeks here in August, and it proved an excellent base from which to explore Vancouver. Travelling into the downtown by bus is straightforward, and driving out of the city is also easy. Kitsilano is a lively and attractive neighbourhood, and local shops and cafes are within very easy walking distance. Highlights for us included Kidsbooks (children's book shop), Bankok Cafe, Nate's Pizza, The Produce Company (organic fruit and veg) and Cobs Bakery. The Kitsilano Farmers Market is also worth a visit (first Sunday of the month).
The property is very thoughtfully equipped, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The garden is pretty, and can be directly accessed from the living room. The owners, Shirley and Ron, were generous and helpful hosts. Highly recommended for city lovers, relaxation and culture.

Great place

Great thanks to Shirley and Ron for a good stay. Shirley is a perfect host: extremely attentive and eager to give you a great stay. The apartment has a great location, extremely clean and very well equipt.
We stayd in the summertime with to small children so the wonderful little garden incl. barbecue was perfect. In so many ways the perfect place for a stay - short or long - in Vancouver.
The only negative is that the place is pretty dark and also sounds travel a lot trough the building. Being a bit sound sensitive it was for us a problem that you can hear every step and move from the above level. This is due to the wooden structure of this typical Vancouver house and not because of the family upstairs being noisy.

Great Hosts and great accommodation! Will stay again!

Booked Shirley's Apartment at short notice when another Vancouver holiday rental was cancelled on us (because the owner suddenly needed to use it!) Shirley and her husband were so accommodating, and wonderful hosts. The accommodation was lovely (very new and clean) and there was adequate space for us and our two small children. Despite being a "basement apartment" there was a good amount of light and double glass doors that open out to a beautiful garden.

Vancouver is a great city and we love Kitsilano. Its a very family-friendly area, so we loved the location of the apartment.

Can't recommend this place highly enough. It was good value, and we would definitely stay again! Well done Shirley for a top-quality holiday apartment!

Owner's Response: Thank you to our wonderful guests and their delightful children. We try to appeal to all ages and welcome small children. The location is so central and is a big hit for those wishing to be active and walk to beaches, shops, restaurants, etc. Also, we are on several bus routes that makes having a car an option. Guest are also enjoying our new dedicated bike routes that can take you downtown or to beaches without encountering traffic. Vancouver is a very livable city and we find our guests take full advantage of our amenities and the options for fun and play this city offers.

Easter Break

This being our fourth visit to Vancouver we were so glad that we decided to change location this time to this excellent property in Kitsilano instead of our usual Downtown residence. We appreciated the warm welcome from Shirley and Ron and the well-equipped, comfortable and tasteful apartment certainly lived up to our expectations. The garden and decked area is a real asset; the wide patio doors opening directly from the living and dining areas. The kitchen has underfloor heating and on chilly days the apartment warms up efficiently. Our stay was in mid-April and we used the heating regularly. We often purchased trays of hot, tasty food from the local ‘Whole Foods’ store (two bus-stops away on 4th right next to Safeway). We made the most of our time here, walking everywhere where possible , along with making full use of the excellent bus and sea-bus services for longer distances. We accessed a bus time table (displayed in all buses) as well as a pocket-size, foldaway bus route map. These proved invaluable. The translink and ferry line telephone numbers are useful to plan your routes and times of journeys. We even travelled to Horseshoe Bay/Bowen Island, Deep Cove and Grouse Mountain using these services. (A full-day adult bus ticket costs $9.75)
We would therefore highly recommend a stay at this property in Kitsilano for all the reasons given. You will not be disappointed.

The suite is very comfortable, very well equipped, and all of the amenities are up to date and in good working order. The suite is centrally located and easy walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and transportation on 4th st and W Broadway and MacDonald. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating and would be happy to stay again and recommend Vancouver travelers to pay them a visit.

An excellent apartment in a great location

There were 5 of us in our family who went to Canada for our son's wedding. We had a wonderful stay in Kitsilano and Shirley and Ron who own the property were wonderful. On arrival they had left provisions for us in the kitchen and everything about the property was excellent. Shirley came to see us to make sure that all was ok. The set up of the apartment was great and it really suited us. The new kitchen was superb and the bedrooms were comfortable and well furnished. The living area was so comfortable and having access to the garden was a great bonus as we entertained guests with a BBQ. The location is really good between West 4th and Broadway which are good shopping and eating places. The beach is only a short walk away and there are some excellent restaurants nearby.
I would fully recommend this property to anyone looking for a well furnished and comfortable property to enjoy a break in Vancouver. Shirley and Ron ensure that everything is done to make your stay is comfortable and stress free. We had a superb stay here and we wish we could have stayed longer. You will not be disappointed with a stay in this excellent property. A big thank you to Shirley and Ron.
