The Gardens:
The beautifully maintained gardens to the front and rear of the Chateau offer guests an environment of peace and relaxation. Constantly changing throughout the seasons, the gardens are secluded by mature plants and trees for complete privacy. Children can play in safety as the gardens are bordered on all sides and the Chateau is secured behind large double front gates.
A major feature of the garden is the inland waterway that runs directly at the rear of the property. A locked gate opens onto a small pontoon, a dream come true for any enthusiastic fishermen. A fishing licence can be obtained in advance of your holiday, just let us know. For lovers of wildlife, the mature gardens and close proximity to water encourages a wide variety of birds for keen observers.
A 'Davy Crocket' style log cabin in the garden provides shade on hot days and an ideal play area for children or for alfresco dining.
Your Invitation to an Evening of Champagne Tasting:
Your trip to the Champagne region would not be complete without the chance to sample some of its famous product. We are proud of our association with Comte Audoin de Dampierre, producer of Champagnes, wines and cognacs supplied to French embassies and fine restaurants around the world.
One of our greatest pleasures is sharing our passion for great Champagne. We would like to extend to you a personal invitation to attend our regular Champagne tasting evening at the Manoir de Maffrecourt where you will have the chance to sample some or all of the superb Comte Audoin de Dampierre Champagnes throughout the range from the easy drinking Brut Grande Cuvee to three magnificent vintages.
For groups of 6 people or more, we are happy to conduct a Champagne Tasting at Chateau Attigny at a time convenient to you. We make no charge for conducting a tasting evening; we simply divide the cost of the Champagnes tasted between the numbers of people attending.
Tots & Children:
As parents ourselves we understand the importance of a good holiday when you have a young family. Many families and expectant mums choose France as their holiday destination to avoid the long queues at airports and to have more flexibility with luggage. Being just 3 hours from Calais makes the Champagne-Ardenne the ideal location for a real French holiday without the exhausting long journey and tired children at the end.
Here at Chateau Attigny and at our gite accommodation, we think about the requirements of families and try to lighten the load by equipping your accommodation with as many practical baby and child friendly items as we possibly can. Safety too is a priority, which is why you will find child proof locks fitted to the cupboards and stair gates ready for use. The gardens too have been checked for safety so that your children can play and explore freely. Travel cots and high chairs come as standard and unlike many other holiday property owners, we make no extra charge.
