QUIET, COMFORTABLE,AFFORDABLE HOUSE WITH TIDAL SALT WATER VIEW

Lamoine House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4-6)

Nestled in the woods of Maine,is our haven for quiet, private, relaxation on the ocean cove. Great Ledge House is a retreat house for those of you looking for Maine's slogan, 'The way life should be,' ...you can find it at the Great Ledge House.

Great Ledge House vacation rental is located 5.5 miles from Ellsworth, Maine, the gateway to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and Mt. Desert Island. Enjoy your Maine vacation at our beautiful house for rent either by the week or for long weekend retreats.

Our getaway house will someday be our retirement home. But until then, we hope to extend the opportunity to you to have a comfortably delightful place to stay in the beautiful state of Maine.

Great Ledge House is down a road leading out onto the Great Ledge peninsula. This peninsula goes out into Frenchman Bay, which then opens out to the Atlantic Ocean. The tides are very

extreme this far north and the coves in front of our house and off our little peninsula fill up at full tide; and then the water recedes completely at low tide to show the mud flats.

The constant tidal changes enhance the bird life in our area.

The house is located 5.5 miles outside of Ellsworth, Maine. Ellsworth is a busy community which provides the jump off point out to Mount Desert Island where Bar Harbor, Maine

and Acadia National Park are located. Bar Harbor and Acadia are 13 miles from the house. When you visit, don’t miss the more northern part of Acadia National Park, which

is farther up Route 1 from Ellsworth, and is known as The Schoodic Peninsula. The “Schoodic” provides some of the best coastal Maine scenes there are to be seen.

One of Maine’s true assets is its people. You will find them friendly, casual, and helpful. Have a restful visit, and let us know how we can improve your stay at our Great Ledge House the next time you can come!

With warm regards,

Sarah and Michael Ciampa

About Sarah & Michael

Michael&Sarah purchased the property to fill a life long love with the coast of Maine. Michael designed and built the house.

Sarah & Michael purchased this house in 1996

Why Sarah & Michael chose Lamoine

We chose this location because of the endless beauty we find looking out at the tidal water view. We love the easy driving distance to Acadia/Bar Harbor, as well as the charming 'Schoodic' area and the endless amount of hiking trails and coastal towns to discover.

What makes this house unique

It is quiet and relaxing. We enjoy walking over to our private tree lined granite ledge peninsula that juts out into the cove. We have picnics, view the birdlife, meditate and simply unwind.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Dear Sarah,

Just wanted to let you know what a WONDERFUL time we had at the Great Ledge house this past week. The house is so charming, and we had a ball cooking, eating on the deck, laughing, sitting by the peninsula and everything. We took a few trips into Acadia, which was absolutely tremendous. Thank you for making our first trip to Maine so special! You can bet that we will be back.

Hope you had a lovely fourth.

All best,

Lauren

An amazing place to stay!

  • 5 of 5
The title "Quiet, comfortable, affordable" says it all! A really great location not far from Ellsworth (for groceries) and Mount Desert Island, but completely away from the crowds, even when we went during peak season in August. I think we might have seen one other car drive down the road the house is on. The house was very comfortable, everything more than adequate for a vacation. For the price, not much more than a nicer hotel, it was a steal! A great place to unwind, which is just what we were looking for.

Great place to stay , wonderful warm and cozy home

  • 5 of 5
We spent 1 week in October at this beautiful house. The views are gorgeous and we enjoyed our time there. Booking process was easy and the house is even nicer than in the pictures. It has all amenities that one could need and its location, off the beaten path, yet close enough to everything (Acadia NP) is perfect for a true vacation. The house is very clean and has all the personal touches that make you feel right at home and the vacation started right when we came into the house. The price is also very good, compared to other locations in that area. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a relaxing stay to wind down and enjoy the beauty of Acadia Park and Mount Desert Island.

Fabulous location!

  • 5 of 5
We loved our experience staying here and were thrilled with the location and the owners made the whole booking and planning experience a breeze - It's really private and secluded location with a fabulous view of the water from the whole house, which we loved. Stores and gas were not far away and we would recommend Lamoine Beach as a quiet get-away-from-it beach with cool breezes and great views, without the crowds, we ate a wonderful Lobster dinner at Union River Lobster pot in Ellsworth and had great locally made ice cream from Mortons Moo, again in Ellsworth. My son (17) enjoyed swimming in the water in the back of the house and although that's not for everyone, he found it a real thrill to swim safely in the 'wild'. The house was comfortable and well equipped but was off the beaten track (literally) and so was a real experience of living in Maine, much more than a hotel would have been. The wi-fi was good to have, though. Son and daughter (21) went on a kayaking adventure with Acadia Park Adventure Tours, which went from Bar Harbor and we would thoroughly recommend that - the kids saw a porpoise and a bald eagle on the tour and our holiday felt like a little adventure. Thanks a million!

A perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5
My family of myself, my wife and 3 adult children found this place wonderful. It was quiet, clean, well maintained and relaxing and we found everything as described in the posting. The owner was helpful when booking our stay by getting back to me immediately answering any questions I had. Its location allows you not only visit Acadia, but also a perfect place to venture out and see the rest of the northern part of Maine. Our family visited lighthouses along the seashore, hiked Acadia trails, and even ventured out to see moose in the wild. And dont pass up the chance to see the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful place to stay while enjoying the peace and beauty of Maine.

the perfect retreat--really!

  • 5 of 5
This cabin looks exactly like the pictures and seemed instantly welcoming. We were so delighted with the space and especially the location, very quiet and peaceful and relaxing. With beautiful views, a loft bedroom with skylights, a cozy master bedroom, fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, surrounded by woods, this place exceeded our expectations. It's very clean and well-maintained, and though we didn't need the wood stove, I can imagine just how cozy it would be with a fire in the stove. The spiral staircase, while charming, might prove to be difficult for the elderly (and even dangerous for children), but there is plenty of sleeping space downstairs, so this isn't a problem. The loft bedroom was worth navigating the staircase (and there is a posted disclaimer advising guests not to let children play on the stairs). We slept so well with the windows open to the clean, cool night air. I highly recommend this place and would gladly return!

Notes:
Walk across the road from the house, and spend time on our private Pine Tree Peninsula. Great spot to lay out a blanket on the rock shore: have a picnic, or meditate, or just enjoy the bird show over the picturesque Maine water scene. The pine trees really do come all the way down to the water.
