Why Elenora chose Historic Center

I fell in love with this apartment on first sight, the roof top view, the fantastic natural light, the silence and the Terrace. The street is full of history right behind the first Medici Palace. After several years living in Florence I was desperate to find a property with natural light, was quiet and had an area outside. A top floor flat was the only answer in the centre of Florence where the Renaissance style means that the streets are very narrow, letting in very little light. The flat was completely run down and I had to re-do everything, including opening up the ceiling to reveal the lovely old beams and roof tiles.

What makes this apartment unique

Situated in the historical heart of Florence, with views of the Duomo and Giotto's Bell Tower. Very light and very quiet. The Terrace offers sitting space outside, with a sun canopy.

A squish for four people - but great location

  • 4 of 5
Superb location. Well-presented apartment with perhaps the tiniest bathroom in the world! Fun for a while, unless you are 6 feet or more, in which case it might prove to be quite a challenge...and an annoyance.
Also worth noting that you have to climb 75 stairs to reach the apartment - they were counted by our children - quite a slog. Certainly you would not want to get to the bottom in summer only to find you'd forgotten and had to go back for your wallet.
The kitchen was small but well-equipped, although no microwave, which would have been useful. But with so many great restaurants nearby, it's not a major problem.
Some of the bedding a little tired. But this is really a minor criticism.
All in all very good value for a short stay in the city.

Perfect Little Paradise in Florence

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the Stufa road apartment for 7 nights sept/oct and had a wonderful time. The apartment was as advertised including the many steps to the top floor. We most certainly got our exercise which helped us to not gain weight from the amazing food (pasta, pastries, gelato, wine, etc). The kitchen had everything we needed as we cooked in two nights. The location was key - right around the corner from the San Lorenzo Market and a bulk wine place (Di Vino) where you can fill up your own bottle for 3-5 euro depending upon the quality. Bottom line is it all was great - no marketing, bottling, labeling which means cheap good quality wine.
Eleonora was great and we followed many of her recommendations and she was spot on. The real star of the apartment though was the terrace. The pictures are accurate and show the view. Each day we had our breakfast and at night a glass of wine or two. Stay here and you will not regret it.

Disappointed ... we didn't stay

Disappointed ... we didn't stay
  • 1 of 5
My friend and I booked a two week holiday in Italy and selected three different apartments in three different cities. Unfortunately, when we arrived in Florence for our four night stay, we found the design of this apartment left us with no alternative but to book into an hotel.

Every picture tells a story but does not always reveal the truth. The apartment is a delightful little place and, on the face of it, exactly as described except for one crucial thing - the wall dividing the bedroom from the living area is not a complete wall - it's a partition with an enormous gap at the top.

The apartment is described as being able to sleep 4 people - there's a double bed in the bedroom and a sofa which converts into 2 single beds in the living room - so theoretically that's true. There were only two of us - we are friends not a couple - and when we booked we were quite prepared for one to have the bedroom and the other to sleep in the living room (as we had done in Venice and Rome). But we were not prepared to stay in a place where the person in the bedroom could hear and be kept awake by every single sound coming from the other room - a room in which the other person might want to watch tv, listen to the radio or talk - as might have been the case if there had been more than two people staying - it was a ridiculous situation.

What I have described might not be something that would concern some people and all reviews of this apartment seem to be glowing but I feel we were misled by the failure to make it clear that the sleeping area was not properly self-contained. Rather more disappointing has been the attitude of the person managing the apartment, who has completely failed to see the problem for what it is.

Some people will find this a great place to stay - but it wasn't for me.

A Florentine Favourite

  • 5 of 5
We loved this apartment. It is so well thought out and equipped. Spotlessly clean we particularly enjoyed sitting out on the terrace with a drink (or two)! It's hard to believe that below you is so much hustle & bustle. Eleonore's tips were brilliant and we ate at Za Zas a couple of times it was really good & good value. There are 74 steps up (and down) but they weren't a problem for us but I could imagine less fit people being daunted by them - but you don't get a view like that without climbing! The only negative was the very hot water but we set the shower and left it in that position so felt we had tamed it. The location is great - not too far to walk to all the sites or to get to the station. We would love to come again. Thank you

Small but Perfectly Formed

  • 5 of 5
Amazing, centrally located flat. The roof terrace was a real bonus - perfect for breakfast and a little early-evening aperitivo. We were checked in by Eleonora's sister who recommended some amazing restaurants on top of the recommendations already there - we were thrilled to discover proper Florentine haunts and avoid the tourist traps. Would definitely stay here again (and soon, I hope - Florence is awe-inspiring). Almost reluctant to leave a review as want it to remain a secret, but Eleonora was so incredibly helpful and hospitable whilst booking the flat and again whilst we were there that it would be mean not to!! Grazie mille for an amazing stay xxx

via stufa apartment

  • 5 of 5
I stayed in this lovely apartment for the month of September and loved every minute. Eleanora was wonderful, arranged for me to have my luggage carried up the stairs when I arrived and left and gave many helpful suggestions. It was good to know she was there if needed. The apartment is clean and comfortable, the terrace is great to sit out on, marvellous view and sunsets in the evening. Very quiet and yet right in the centre, short walk away from all the sights. The San Lorenzo food market nearby was a boon, 2 supermarkets nearby, lots of restaurants, cafes, wine shops, deli's everything you might need is within walking distance. The stairs were fine, rather good exercise in fact!
I would thoroughly recommend this apartment.

The apartment is situated right in the heart of old Florence five minutes from the famous Cathedral, the Duomo, the railway station in the very center of Florence. Overlooking the historic nineteenth century fruit and vegetable market (where the locals do all their shopping) and the famous leather market of San Lorenzo. You are in walking distance of every main attraction, the Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi and Accedemia Musuems not to mention Giotto's bell tower which can be seen from the flat. There are a wide selection of supermarkets just five minutes walk from the flat and every other amenity, bars, restaurants of every type and a wide variety of shops. Lovely piazzas where you can enjoy a meal or a drink al fresco, just outside. You are right in the heart of Florence but you can enjoy the rare pleasure of a Terrace and a very quiet and light flat.
