Built in 1920 and remodeled in 2012, Sea Star Cottage is a charming family get away in historic downtown Seward, Alaska. The cottage is ideally located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, galleries, and the Alaska SeaLife center. Marine wildlife tours and fishing charters depart from the boat harbor less than a mile away. The view from the living room is of Resurrection Bay and the mountains beyond. Behind the cottage, watch hikers make their way up the rugged Mount Marathon trail. Cottage guests will enjoy lovely views, a fully-equipped, updated kitchen, and two cozy bedrooms with restored original hardwood floors. The master bedroom is equipped with a queen bed and walk-in closet. The second bedroom has a bunk bed with a full sized lower bed and a twin on top. There is a pull-out sleeper in the living area to accommodate extra guests. A dining table seating six provides a great place to enjoy meals with a view.

Alaska has been our home for 15 years. We enjoy the mountains, the water and small town life which is why we love Seward.
The Sea Star Cottage is one of Seward's original homes, built in 1920 and renovated in 2012. Seward is a place where the mountains, the water and history all come together. Sea Star allows us to share the beauty of Seward with all who visit.
Thank you so much. Y’all really make this house feel like an Alaskan home. Everything is kept so nice and tidy! I just love the beach theme too!! It is easy to see that you two put a lot of effort to make this house as comfortable as possible. I will definitely recommend this house to anyone I know! Thank you again.
My family and I have stayed at other homes in the Seward area and this is easily our favorite. It was very clean and conveniently located downtown. The owner was very helpful and responsive. It is clear the owners have taken great care in my maintaining this older home and have put thought into all the finishing touches.
I am a picky renter. This might be the first place I have ever rented from VRBO for which I didn't have at least one criticism.
Beautiful, comfortable interior. Thoughtful touches throughout. Impeccably clean. Great location. Plenty of towels, paper products, dishes, cookware, utensils, sheets, blankets, pillows. Not surprisingly, the owner was great to work with, as well. You can't go wrong with this rental.
The house was just perfect for a home base for so many activities. The home was obviously well cared for and maintained by the owners with lots of "extra" touches throughout the home. The ad accurately reflected the coziness of the home, the photos were up to date.
The owner is easy to talk to and reasonable with her expectations from her guests. We would not hesitate to rent this home again or any home owned by this owner. There was a basket in the home with broucheres of activities in and around the Seward area. It was great to have such a wealth of information available at your fingertips.
Thank you for a wonderful vacation, it truly was a bucket list vacation!
A fabulous cottage right in the heart of Seward. We (2 couples) stayed for 4 days before our cruise and enjoyed every minute. We did have a car - necessary- to see some of the surrounding sights. Would definitely go back to this charming, immaculate cottage.
We (me, my husband, and 2 young adult children) had a wonderful time at Sea Star Cottage. It is comfortably and fashionably furnished, well-stocked, and in a perfect location to walk to all Seward has to offer. In addition, it was immaculately clean.
From the front porch we could see Resurrection Bay, bald eagles, and locals at the coffee shop. Within a few minutes walk were the shoreline, the Sea Life Center, and "downtown" Seward with restaurants and shops. For those wanting to experience the realness of a location (not the tacky tourist perspective of it), Sea Star Cottage is a perfect choice. Christina and Matt were easy to work with and everything was as advertised. I highly recommend it!
Our first visit to Seward and we were comfy and cozy in the Sea Star Cottage in spite of nearly nonstop rain. The location is great! Walking distance to the Alaska SeaLife Center and the various outfitters we scheduled kayaking and glacier hiking with. The house is larger than it looks from the street and parking was no problem. Clean and well stocked. The only downsides are that it is on the main street in Seward so there is some traffic noise. TVs were not working but that wasn't a big deal for us. Would definitely recommend the Sea Star cottage if you're visiting Seward.
