Beautiful Rural Cowichan Valley
My husband and I stayed at this rustic cottage for the months of November and December and loved it! There is a big porch/mudroom where we could leave our shoes and clean off the dog's feet before entering. The living room with couch, chair, and loveseat is large enough to host 6-8 people comfortably. The furniture is old, but the kind that you can sink into without a care. The kitchen is large and bright, in fact we hosted our family Christmas at the huge dining room table. We encountered some unusually cold weather during our stay, but the woodstove is very efficient; Victoria and John provided us with enough wood to keep us toasty throughout our stay, so we did not have to resort to using much hydro. Having to open and close the gate was really the only negative for us, but since my husband was away at work much of the time, I tried to look at it as an extra sense of security for me. Were it not for a few inconveniences such as not being able to open the back door (slightly warped and lock too high) this would have been a 5 star for me. It was great to have the run of this beautiful property and to walk the dog by the alpacas and donkeys. If you are looking for simple comfort and a taste of rural Cowichan Valley, this is the place. We would definitely go back.
