Why The Owner chose Ferrisburg

Lake Champlain has so much to offer, not to mention the beauty surrounding the area. Our family loves all the outdoor opportunities this area offers: great skiing in the winter; hiking, biking, boating, and swimming in the summer; antiquing and 'leaf peeping' in the fall; and gearing up for summer in the spring!

What makes this house unique

With over 100 miles of waterfront, Lake Champlain varies in water quality, views, and accessibility. Unique to our area is the proximity to the Basin Harbor Resort with its restaurants, championship golf, and even onsite museum. Make new friends at The Red Mill restaurant (live entertainment most weekends in the summer) or go for a long solitary jog or bike ride along the rarely traveled country roads. In the winter/spring, you can plan a day trip to some of the best skiing mountains in Vermont! Mad River Glen (Ski it if you can!) and the Middlebury Snowbowl are within an hour drive, and Jay Peak is within 2 hours.

Whether you want total relaxation or a high energy vacation you'll find this the perfect place to be!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Angela,

The house is lovely and we had a great time. I started to fill out the paper questionnaire but decided to send an email instead. What a beautiful location. The house, the view, the setting and the neighborhood are all fantastic.Your neighbors are such nice people. You asked in the questionnaire if anything was better or worse than expected and I'd have to say the photos on the listing don't do justice to the view or the waterfront area. We were pleasantly surprised at how spectacular they were.

All in all we enjoyed ourselves very much and we'd definitely be interested in renting again. And, by the way, we did eat at the Black Sheep Bistro and it was excellent. The food was very good and the service friendly. Thanks again for all your helpful emails. I hope to be in touch again!

Beautiful home for family holiday gathering

  • 5 of 5

Our extended family of 10 spent four nights here between Christmas and New Years. The house was exactly as described and even prettier and better laid out than the photos show. The scenery across Lake Champlain was beautiful - we even saw two bald eagles one morning. Quiet area, but under ten minutes from town. Angela was very responsive in our communications. She even set up an artificial Christmas tree for us! Would love to come back during warmer months to enjoy more outdoor activities.

Holiday Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

We spent four nights here at the end of December to celebrate the holidays. There were ten family members, and plenty of room for everyone to sleep and spread out, But also nice areas for everyone to be together to eat, open gifts, and play games. The view across Lake Champlain was beautiful. We even saw two bald eagles one morning! Would love to come back during warmer weather to do lake and outdoor activities. The owner Angela was very prompt and helpful in our correspondences. She even set up an artificial Christmas tree for us. It was a great overall experience.

Great place, great view on one of the best locations on the lake!

  • 5 of 5

A group of friends and I rented this house for a weekend of fishing and relaxation and it met both needs with great success. I am from Vermont and know the lake well, so had a good idea of where we wanted to be. This location sits just below the big water, and close to the Otter Creek so it is ideal for smaller boats and good fishing. The house was absolutely immaculate and had all of the little things necessary for a great weekend. The Owners are wonderful people and bent over backward to ensure our stay was a success. All of my questions were answered in a very timely manner, and they even helped us find a place to rent an extra boat. If you are looking for a great place to enjoy Lake Champlain, it doesn’t get much better than this!

great for restful OR active vacation!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, you can't beat the location. Right on the lake, beautiful view to the northwest. For readers/relaxers, the spacious back porch is very comfortable for sitting and relaxing. Ditto the rocks close to shore. For active folks, there were 2 kayaks, a 1-man and a 2-man. We paddled over to New York 3 times during the week. There were also several hybrid/mountain bikes. 3 of them were great for adults and there were at least a couple of smaller ones. There were also tools and a pump (occasionally any bike will need air). For joggers, no traffic at all---turn left at the paved road, run to the end, turn right, run a couple of miles, and then right again onto Basin Harbor Road then to Schoolhouse, and you have a nice 6 mile loop. The evenings were nice and quiet. The weather was typical Vermont, so we got 4 and a half excellent days out of 7. On the bad days, we drove to Burlington once (45 minutes) and to Middlebury once (just under 30 minutes)--both towns deserve a visit, Burlington maybe more than once (and go to the Shelburne Museum one of those days). There are 5 window unit A/C's which came in handy the one really muggy day. Kitchen very well equipped.

Overall, a great house that should satisfy every need.

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

Angela,

Wanted to thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home. It was such an amazing weekend and wouldn't have been the same anywhere else. The property is unreal and we only wish we had more time to take advantage of all the home has to offer. We have nothing but great feelings of your home. Hopefully we can take advantage of the location and come up again when we have more free time.

Thank you again,

Mike
