We grew up in the Marina and have always loved the incredible views of the bay and bridges as well as a village type ambiance associated with the neighborhood.
Located one block from the Palace of Fine Arts. A few blocks from Chesnut St and the waterfront.
I spent a wonderful month in this apartment, and loved every minute. I am a Washingtonian who lived in SF 10 years ago. I had the opportunity to spend a month in SF while working and was in need of a furnished apartment. I know the city and knew where I wanted to be. My friends and family will tell you I am picky about where I live and where I stay - and Kathy and Rick's wonderful apartment did NOT disappoint. The location is perfect - for those of you who don't know the city - the Marina is a great, safe, convenient neighborhood. This apartment is 3 blocks from the water and amazing views of the Golden Gate bridge, Crissy Field, and great (flat) walking/running/biking paths along the Bay. From the front door you can see the amazing Palace of Fine Arts, and walk 3 blocks south and you're on Chestnut with its wonderful markets, restaurants, boutiques, coffee shops and bakeries. A couple more blocks and you're on Union with more of the same. A few blocks east and you're in the Presidio. Up the hill and you're in Pac Heights, with what have to be some of the most gorgeous views on this earth.
The apartment comes with a parking space, which was great for the couple of times I rented a car or my friends came to visit, but it's also steps from the MUNI bus which is SF's great bus system (30, 30X closest, and 22, 28 and others a few blocks away). The apartment itself is really beautiful. It's spacious, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The linens, towels, kitchen appliances, washer/dryer, TVs, (cable w/ premium channels and On demand!) - are all quality. There is lots of closet space, the fireplace was a plus on chilly SF nights, and the water pressure in the shower was great!
Booking the apartment was easy - Kathy was wonderfully responsive and answered all of my questions before I arrived. Once I arrived, both Kathy and Rick met me in the apartment and showed me around. They responded immediately to any questions, and were really friendly and sweet. I mentioned I wanted to rent a bike for my stay, and Rick offered one to borrow. They were just incredibly accommodating, and very nice to deal with.
If I could've stayed longer, I would have. If you are looking for a gorgeous, comfortable place with terrific owners, snag this one!
Having lived in the Bay area for many years and being avid sailors we were anxious to be in SF for the America's Cup. We were thrilled to have found an apartment that was 2 blocks from the Marina Green and Crissy Field, both spectacular viewing venues for the racing. We couldn't have been more pleased with the sailing outcome and the apartment. Kathy was gracious on the phone during the rental process and we were pleased to meet her in person. She is a dear, a great resource for local goings on and most attentive to our needs throughout our stay. Rick met us when we arrived and clued us in on all we needed to know: operation of the cable TVs, WiFi, recycling, etc. The apartment is lovely, spacious, bright and cheerful with tasteful accessories throughout. The dining room table was beautifully set for 6 upon our arrival which prompted us to entertain local friends and show off our accommodations for the next month. The kitchen is well appointed and we loved lingering over our morning coffee at the banquet. The bedrooms are large and we were very impressed by the amount of closets and drawers. We enjoyed being close to our favorite places for shopping and dining on Chestnut and Union Streets. We used Uber and ZipCar during our stay, however we appreciated the convenience of have a parking spot when needed. Rick and Kathy made us feel most welcome and we look forward to renting from them again when visiting our favorite city by the bay!
We stayed in this beautifully decorated, immaculate, spacious apartment for one month. Everything in it was tastefully done and good quality including the designer dishes, sheets and towels. The location was perfect, near shops and restaurants, the Presidio, and the water.
We had never rented through HomeAway before and were very hesitant to pay in advance site unseen, despite assurances from the owner that we would not be disappointed. Well, we weren't!
The owners, Kathy and Rick live upstairs and could not have been more attentive to any (small) issues that arose. They either appeared at our door within 5 minutes to resolve the problem or emailed us promptly to set up an appointment convenient to us. We enjoyed getting to know them and appreciated their recommendations for restaurants, stores, areas, etc.
We look forward to returning as soon as our schedule allows.
We stayed with Rick & Kathy as we were in the process of relocating to SF and agreed to leasing the place sight unseen based on photos and a chat with Kathy. I had lived in SF before and knew the area but was a bit nervous about committing to something for a few months without seeing it beforehand.
It was LOVELY and a perfect place for us to get our bearings again! The flat is very well-appointed and has everything we might have needed. The furniture is nice, stylish, and comfortable. Beyond that, Rick & Kathy were so terrific to have as landlords! They were incredibly responsive, accommodating, friendly, etc.
We wanted to stay longer but needed to get settled somewhere more permanently. That said, I have no hesitation recommending this place (or any other through Rick & Kathy) to friends and family!
An intended 3 month stay extended an extra 3+ months (for various reasons); and we simply could not have had a better place to call home. Kathy and Rick are terrific - words cannot describe their hospitality; and their desire for you to enjoy the Marina and San Francisco as much as they do. The unit is in superb shape, it is essentially brand new with the latest appliances, televisions, and audio equipment; the bathrooms are perfect, and even include a bath in the Master; and the eat-in kitchen is a nice option instead of just relying on a formal dining table. There is in unit laundry; and a large parking space (fit a large SUV with ease). And, we haven't even touched the location, which is unbeatable. Chestnut Street is 3 blocks away, the Marina is 3 blocks away, and the Palace of Fine Arts is one block away - and, the Marina is great location to further explore SF, or venture North to Wine Country and Marin. We simply couldn't have been happier; and frankly fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay in this property, and meet Katy and Rick. We could not recommend this any stronger and encourage you to dive into this short term home in one of the world's greatest cities.
