Our stay in Jemez Springs in December

We enjoyed our stay at this 4 bedroom home very much. The weather in December exceeded our expectations, cold but sunny, and snow on the ground in places, but roads were fine in Jemez and on our way to Los Alamos, where the younger ones ice skated at the local outdoor rink surrounded by pines. We also went to Santa Fe for the day and half our group skiied while the rest of us did the Georgia OKeefe museum and the Loretta Chapel and strolled in the Plaza.
Back in Jemez we went to Battleship National Park and though the hiking paths were too deep with snow to hike, we had a great snowball fight, which we snowless Texans thoroghly enjoyed. We also went to Giggling Springs' outdoor hot springs and spent a relaxing afternoon followed by a 30 minute massage at the Jemez Bath House. One morning we saw large elk in someone's backyard when we drove somewhere. The only snow that fell was on Christmas Eve, so we had a White Christmas, but by the next afternoon the roads were clear and safe to drive.
Oh, by the way the house was lovely and had all the amenities one could need. The beds were comfy, as was the living area. The only drawback was the lack of a dining room table, but there was a pool table in the garage which made up for that. Plus in the summer you can use the tables on the porch and outdoor sitting areas for meals.
And from the roomy screened porch upstairs or down, you could see and hear the Jemez River below. We're hoping to come back in the summer and read and nap on the hammock.
