Bansko:
Bansko is a magical symbiosis of history, traditions and culture. All that a visitor reveals here is – old-time architecture, heroic history, authentic folklore, eternal culture, centuries - kept traditions and customs, specific food, sense of humor – a symbol of Bulgarianness.
Bansko covers the most beautiful and majestic part of Pirin Mountain next to the colorful gorge Momina Klisura, Razlog valley and part of the Rhodopies. The summer there is short and cool, but the winter is long, mild and snowy.
It is only 150km away from the capital Sofia, 150km from Plovdiv and 60km from Blagoevgrad.
The nature is the biggest treasure of Bansko. Pirin mountain with its rare tree species is pronounced as a National park and it’s also under the auspices of UNESCO.
There is an active ski base with lift and challenging slopes, restaurants, hotels and attractions. The mineral springs in the village bring lots of visitors interested in recreation tourism.

Bansko also offers ski and snowboard schools, with well-equipped cabins using the leading world brands for winter sports – both for kids and adults. Visitors can always rely on qualified multi-lingual instructors for training and advices in English, German, Russian or Greek. You can study individually or in groups.

But Bansko is much more than a winter resort. From 17 -24th May starts the summer tourist season. Visitors can enjoy ethnographic and culinary exhibitions, fine art galleries, nights dedicated to the humor, music, dances, customs.
In May you can also delight the festival “Mezhdu tri planini”, featuring more than 300 dancing and singing groups for authentic folklore of the region. Meanwhile there’s an exposition of the local handcrafts, and the festival “Pirin Folk” where hundreds of artists are performing their talents.
Traditionally in August the summer Jazz Festival is exposed in Bansko. Popular Bulgarian and foreign musicians are taking part in it. The opened stage provokes interest not only in tourists but local people also.
