Located on the banks of the River Bocq, 3km from the town of Ciney, this recently renovated and extremely well appointed castle was once the home of the Bishops of Luik. It dates back to the 12thC and remained in ecclesiastical hands until the 17th. Being only a short drive from Calais and Brussels, and sleeping up to 35, it is now the perfect venue for family holidays, reunions and celebrations. Its 10 hectares of grounds include an extensive park with 100yr old trees and its lake and woods are ideal for fishing, canoeing and swimming, walking and cycling trips. The chateau itself consists of 750 m² of accommodation made up of the main building and 2 wings that surround the courtyard. Picturesque, cultural and historic, Namur is perfect for both nature and culture vultures alike. It has a colourful range of tranquil woodland, pasture, valleys, small lakes and meandering rivers as well as a strong cultural heritage. Namur, the capital of the Province of Namur is also the political capital of Wallonia, the French speaking southern part of Belgium. The city has a population of 105,000 and is located at the confluence of the Rivers Sambre and the Meuse. Both rivers are major waterways, and thus, the city has had a military significance in centuries past that guaranteed continual assault from Roman times through to the Second World War. Nevertheless, the city is large and important enough to offer the visitor a wealth of diversions. The Citadel, which served as a strategic bastion, is Namur's greatest monument. Today the Citadel is accessible by a winding road, the 'Route Merveilleuse' or by cable-car with beautiful views from the summit.

    Security deposit: €1300. This is paid via bank transfer prior to arrival and will be refunded in full after departure (2 weeks maximum) subject to damage inspection.

    Linen & towels: Bed linen is available for hire at 6 euros per person as are bath towels for 2 euros per person. This is paid by cash on arrival.

    Energy costs: To expenditure - This is paid by cash at the chateau.

    End of stay cleaning: 355 euros. This is paid by cash on arrival.

    Arrival time: 7pm onwards.

    Departure time: 10am.

    Firewood: Is available for 5 euros per set.
