Apartment, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

A beautiful and unique two story apartment right in the heart of North Beach above the owners antique map and rare book shop! This is an experience only a few have had and many dream of since it is the ultimate in urban living. Very comfortable and updated, the main floor is an open living room and kitchen with a gas fireplace. The second floor has the bedrooms and bathroom. The main bedroom has a king bed, a gas fireplace and copper skylight! The second bedroom has a queen size Murphy bed. The bathroom with a beautiful open shower and Jacuzzi bathtub and washer/dryer. Stairs lead up to the roof terrace that has a table and chairs and lounge seating. You can see parts of the Golden Gate Bridge and the bay, Coit Tower, Russian Hill and the Financial District. A wonderful place to relax and soak in the views. You are staying in the middle of where it all happens and happened – great history and great present time! Restaurants, bars and shopping are literary at your doorstep. Please be aware that this apartment has a lot of stairs.

Wonderful, central, fun

I rarely say (and mean) this, but I would definately stay here again

I never (literally) write reviews...I know I should, but until now I have never felt this compassionate about a place I have stayed. This place is my type of place - my first impression was that it is better than the photos. It's on a hip, (sometimes noisy) busy side street in North Beach with dozens of restaurants, bars and interesting shops within easy walking distance. I loved sitting in the front window reading and/or just watching the goings on. I was here a week and then my wife joined me for the last few days and she is the one pushing me to write this review. The butcher at Vallejo & Stockton (just 2-3 blocks) is amazing (very old school - if he doesn't like it, he doesn't sell it). For great Italian deli sandwiches check out Molinari's - a real taste of Italy at Vallejo & Columbus. The apartment is 15 minute (or less) walk to everywhere - Union Square, Fishermans Warf, Ferry Terminal Building and more. I hope next time I come to SF this place is available - I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

This place is better than the pictures and description. Great location, a wonderful 2 story apartment, plus a private rooftop deck with incredible views. North Beach is not only a very central location, it's also a fun neighborhood with so many pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. to choose from. San Francisco is a wonderful city, and after a long lapse from visiting the area our recent stay here has already prompted the planning of our next visit. The Scheins were terrific in answering all the questions we had before our arrival and during our stay. Their place was clean, comfortable and truly great find for us. We'll be back.

I stayed at the Schein's place for a week recently and I can't say enough good things about it. The apartment itself is very cool - great high end facilities and very comfortable. Location couldn't be better - I was there for a conference at the Moscone Center which is only about a 25 minute walk through Chinatown and then past some of 'those' famous SF streets - the big hills with the cable cars. Fortunately, you don't have to walk up any of them on the way to downtown but just being at the bottom of them looking up made the daily walk unforgettable. Going 15 minutes from Jim and Marti's place the other direction gets you to Fishermans Wharf and all those other attractions. The North Beach neighborhood had a great feel - lots of little bars and restaurants, quiet, safe... what else do you need? I'll definitely be back.
