Built in 1879 as a place to entertain during the hunting season, the château is a unique property in the Haute Vienne area of the Limousin. It has a special atmosphere with a comfortable, well-designed interior and spacious grounds making it perfect for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year. Set within a 4 acre walled park with 100yr old trees, the château has been entirely renovated to provide every modern comfort whilst retaining the original design and features. A central salon with doors to the garden has tall inter-connecting doors to the dining room & a further sitting room making it a perfect space for entertaining. All bedrooms have fine linen & duck-down duvets & all bathrooms have limestone tiling, waffle bathrobes & windows onto the gardens.Outside, you can relax on one of the designer loungers by the 12m x 6m pool. Nearest Ferry: Calais at 650 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Le Dorat at 3 Kilometres
Le Dorat has one of the most important 12th Century Romanesque churches in the region, the Collegiale de St. Pierre and the only fortified gate of the period in the Limousin. It also has a wide range of shops, a supermarket, bars, restaurants, a weekly market and a Limoges porcelain factory outlet store. Oradour sur Glane, (45kms): A moving memorial to the atrocity of war in this preserved ruin of an entire village after the massacre of June 10th 1944. Montmorrilion (25kms) is an interesting medieval city and one of eight communities in Europe specialising in the publishing and associated crafts connected with books. Limoges (55kms): A fusion of two cities until the French Revolution it has an interesting collection of historical buildings and churches. There is a wide range of specialist shops, outlets from all the major porcelain producers and a diverse choice of restaurants. With polished oak floors and double doors opening onto a balcony with stunning views over the fountain, park and beyond. There is a white marble fireplace with gilded mirror, a dressing table and chests of drawers. Connected to bedroom 2 through a lockable door is a bedroom 3 with double-bed and a further single bed if required making a perfect two-room suite for parents and children. It has a large walk-in wardrobe and a large armoir. With separate access to the hall this room can also be used independently. Bedroom 4: with another king size bed this 22sqm bedroom has polished floors, a dressing table and red marble fireplace. Bedroom 5: double bed with a cream painted floor.
