Photos and Description of the Allier vacation cottage rental Charming cottage next to Chateau in medieval village close to Volcano Park

This 15th -16th century cottage is our largest and most charming property. Virtually nothing has been changed in the house since its construction. It has sculptured Renaissance windows, 2 wine cellars with direct access from the living room, large oak beams, original red tiled floors, white washed walls and 3 large stone fireplaces. . All furniture is antique (several pieces as old as the house). The cottage was renovated in 2003 with large (25m2) luxury bathroom (tub and walk-in shower), modern kitchen, central heating, ADSL Broadband internet connection. Stonewalled garden with fruit trees and privacy. Very quiet on outskirts of village with easy access to forest, rivers and lakes.

Nearest Train: Vichy at 35 Kilometres
Nearest Motorway: Gannat at 15 Kilometres

Auvergne is virtually a white spot just in the middle of France. Until now bypassed by the major tourist streams going to Paris, Cote d'Azur, Provence, Dordogne, Pyrenees, Bretagne and the Alps. It is now opening up thanks to the new North-South Motorways A71 Paris-Montpellier-Spain, and East-West A89 Geneva-Lyon-Clermont-Ferrand-Bordeaux. About 5 hours from all french borders. Auvergne has few inhabitants (1,3 million) but large magnificent landscapes with volcanoes, clean streams and rivers, high plateau's with free roaming cattle and plenty of beautiful medieval village and churches. Allier has the highest concentration of Castles in France about 500, so one every 2-3 km. The air is clean, (not much industry), and the evening sky clear and beautiful with stars (no evening light pollution). And the food. Many of the most famous cheeses in France come from Auvergne, and the local dishes are prepared with the unpolluted local products.

Notes: The cottage situated next to the Chateau de bellenaves is 400 m from village center with small supermarket, butcher, bakeries, bars and restaurants. There are as well doctors, dentists etc. Wednesday mornings have a very nice wellstocked amrket with local produce. Larger supermarkets are app. 15 km away.
