About Mary Apple
I live in Denver, CO but grew up in Wyoming. Why Maine? My deceased husband fell in love with Maine when he went to visit friends there. He introduced me to Maine after we were married. We rented a cottage for many years there, but then he decided he wanted his own place. Thus this house in Maine. I can't live in a place until it's perfect. This is perfect.
Mary Apple purchased this house in 1993
Why Mary Apple chose East Boothbay
You should have seen this house when we bought it! The only thing that remains of the original house is the living room. The rest has been built new.
The art in the house is mostly by Maine artists although there are some artists displayed from as far away as France. We have lots of books in the bookcases for your reading pleasure. There are books on Maine, biographies, novels (mostly novels -- both old and new).
What makes this house unique
The view of the ocean is really wonderful--winter or summer. It's a year-round house, perfect for the holidays -- summer or winter. It's a great getaway fall, winter, spring or summer.
The garden, oh the garden, I didn't realize how fast things grown and big they get in Maine. Weeds too. We built the stairs to the ocean so we could get down the hill.
Guestbook comments from the owner
We just wanted to tell you that we enjoyed your home well beyond our expectations. We have stayed in VRBO homes in many countries and 3 continents. We have stayed in a home on top of a small mountain overlooking Zihuatenjo Bay in Mexico and watched the sun come up every morning and thought that was purely magical. We rented a home in Mendoza, Argentina in a walled in compound with a 25 meter private pool with a gardener on premises that was absolutely old world and as beautiful as any home in Architectural Digest.
Your home was even more beautiful and fun to stay in. You have such great taste in art and the sailing motif you decorated the home in, is absolutely beautiful. With the views into the Bay of Maine as far as the eye could see out over the rocks, was hard to look away from. We opened all the windows and listened to the waves lap at the beach at night, and the low hum of the lobster boats working their pots to wake up to, in the morning. We never really wanted to leave, and venture out to shop and see the sights of Eastbay, which are after all, fantastic and centrally located; but we did. You can take day trip from here to everything you want to see, to have a true Maine Experience, which is what we really hoped for. We will definitely come again and hope your home is open to accommodate our schedule. Happy Travels,
