FriendsGiving 2014

  • 5 of 5
We booked this house for a group of Friends heading out on an adventure for Thanksgiving Holiday. We were a group of 4 couples (8 total) and the four bedrooms worked perfect for us. The kitchen was great for our cooking and the Bonus Grocery store was close by. The house was clean and a great fit for us and the owners were wonderful and met us to show us around. The sauna and the hot tub were great after long days out enjoying Iceland and the taxi into the heart of the city for nights on the town was not too expensive ($6 dollars per person each way, with 8 people). The bus close by would take you to the center of town too if you wanted to wait. All in all a great stay! Having rented a car was necessary for us.

A Wonderful Home in the Suburbs

  • 5 of 5
We were a group of 6 and the house was perfect for us. There was someone there to greet us upon our arrival which was a nice touch. The home was well kept, plenty of beds, and the hot tub was a nice touch. A lot of home for an excellent price! Thank you!

Our Icelandic House

  • 2 of 5
The house is in a residential suburb of reykjavik. Near to swimming pool and open air museum and a 15 minute drive to the centre of town. Space and amenities of the house e.g. standard of the appliances in kitchen and the hot tub were good. The photos displayed on the listing probably are a bit old as the accommodation was high spec some years ago and needs some investment to bring it back to that level - it looks and feels tired. The house in general and the kitchen in particular was not clean, it was very dusty especially under the beds. Some of the windows were cracked and there were cobwebs. The beds were uncomfortable especially the mattresses in the main bedroom which both need replacing. The duvets were very thin and need replacing. There were no spare duvets and i would not want to spend winter there without additional bedding. There was no real instructions about any of the amenities eg using the tv and you had to work out how to use things for yourself. The TV was old fashioned and the stereo would not link to a ipad/ipod. Wi-fi was easy to access and of a good speed. Bring your own dvds (European region) as the selection was poor as was number of board games available.

Owner's Response: I am sorry to hear that you consider the house not being up to your standard. I would like to point out that we are always just a phonecall away and can be there usually within 15 minutes if something is not right or you need help, this information is in the "Welcome" document and also in the booklet in the house. I will see if that has gone missing from the house, it also includes various directions of usage. Usually our guests are met up by the owner who shows them around but we have been accomodating to some guests who arrive in Iceland much earlier than the check-in time is and if so the owner needs to arrive at a later time upon the guests request. During high season accommodating such request also means the cleaning staff is working the night instead. I spoke to the cleaning staff and they told me that they always turn the beds sidways when cleaning but I will take your word for it and let them know about your dissatisfaction on that, it would have been nice to know about this sooner and not only through this review. The interior of the house was renovated in 2007 although I agree some furniture might need some update and it has not the newest technology of television. The cobwebs are truly a nuisance but we do try to clear them away but they seem to return quite fast. Taking corrective action for your comfort would have been done immediately so I do hope our future customers will contact me when I can still correct such errors and make the stay more pleasant. Unlike most countries here in Iceland the houses are just as warm during summer months as they are during winter months so hopefully our winterguests will be warm or let me know while here if they are not. Perhaps the house is not perfect but we have had quite happy clients with both the house and our service and with highly competitive prices. Regarding our DVD and boardgame collection, that is not really a part of our advertised acommodation but if our clients require these things and extra comfort not provided in the pricing we are always willing and able to do our best. I advise my guests to keep in contact through the housephone while here to maximise the experience.

Perfect Accommodations!

  • 5 of 5
We booked this house for a family vacation in January and it was perfect for our large family! We traveled with 9 adults and 1 infant, but the house never felt cramped or crowded and we all had a bed to sleep in. The full kitchen and large dining room table allowed us to cook dinner every night and easily accommodated everyone. Although there were not as many bathrooms as one would expect with such a large house, we rarely encountered an issue with this. The hot tub was perfect for relaxing at night and the built-in coffee was a family favorite. I would suggest renting a car if you were to reserve this house; it is a bit removed from the city, but it is a very easy drive. There were two parking spots that were heated, so we had no trouble driving to the house even in the middle of winter. The walking trails around the complex made for a beautiful walk at night. The property manager was very prompt in her responses and extremely helpful while booking the house; she even gave us suggestions for activities and where to eat. I would not hesitate to book this house again and would absolutely recommend renting this house if you are looking into a trip to Iceland.

Fantastic house, excellent value!

  • 5 of 5
6 of us rented this house for our 5-night holiday in Iceland. We rented cars which made the location idea, just 15 minutes' drive from the centre of Reykjavik. Before our arrival I was nervous, wondering if the property had looked "too good to be true", but this was absolutely not the case. The house exceeded expectations, even with 8 people staying there there would have been plenty of space. The mod-cons in the kitchen were brilliant, and the hot tub and sauna made our stay that little bit extra special. The only constructive criticism I have is that for 6 people we just about managed with the bathroom facilities (1 bathroom with bath/shower and toilet; 1 shower room; 1 toilet upstairs) - with people this might have been a little tricky to manage. However this would not stop me from renting this house again, it really was fantastic, the owner and manager were both very helpful, and we had a wonderful stay here. For the rental price this is a great option for a holiday to Iceland!

Fantastic place for friends and family to stay

  • 5 of 5
Just returned from a fantastic holiday in Iceland made all the better by our stay in this wonderful house. The landlords were very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay in this fully equipped house. The rooms are numerous and large and easily accommodated a group of 9 with a large dining table and generous living room and roaring open fire. The kitchen is amazing and has everything you need including an inbuilt coffee machine which makes excellent coffee. Outside was very cold but no one cared because the jaccuzzi and sauna were always hot. Cant wait to go back
