Vale da Telha Vacation Rental villa

We stayed at Casa Ashleen for 2 weeks in September and it was the perfect holiday for the 3 of us. The fantastic mature garden with old pine trees, palm trees and flowering oleanders was a pleasant surprise, as the photos do not show this. We enjoyed above all the absolute quiet and the undisturbed privacy. The property service by Tim and his crew was efficient and very discreet. The furnishing is perfect for a holiday home, everything you need without the unnecessary frills you often find in other rental homes. We loved the 3 very comfortable couches in the living room and the thick mattresses in the bedrooms. The Nature Park of the Costa Vicentina is one of the most dramatic landscapes in Europe and my son enjoyed every morning hiking through the heather, climbing down the cliffs to deserted sandy coves, then coming back with hot freshly baked rolls from the nearby supermarket for breakfast. Vale da Telha is very well situated and short drives in different directions make for great excursions, into the mountains of Monchique, down the coast towards Lagos and north into the fertile lands of the Alentejo. We explored several different beaches every day and ate in many great restaurants, sampling the local specialities. The best restaurant is Sitio do Forno at Praia do Amado, Carrapateira, situated on a high cliff over the blue sea and serving the famous Cataplana, Arroz de Mariscos, etc., etc. We also had a barbecue on our "own" terrace twice, when we just wanted to enjoy the big sunny terrace and the comfortable lounge chairs. Unfortunately the pool was too cold to swim and as it has no rail to hold on to, I, being handicapped, was not able to get into it. I would recommend this property to everybody who wants to spend a great, peaceful holiday in a comfortable house in a spectacular environment. Many thanks to the owners!!!
