About Nancy Brenneman

My husband Dan and I have been cottaging on Bass Lake since 1969. It has been our dream to share our little piece of heaven with others for years. Our dream has finally become a reality. We hope you enjoy our lakeside retreat and the surrounding Traverse City area as much as we have over the years. Welcome.

Nancy Brenneman purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Nancy Brenneman chose Traverse City

It chose us, family memories, growing up as a teachers kid, spending our summers, sunning, boating, and swimming. When the opportunity came up, it was just a natural fit.

What makes this cottage unique

You are 10 minutes from downtown Traverse, yet you may think its Northern Canada by the lake views. The nature, deer, wild life, and fishing are awesome. Boat launch nearby, and dock on property. Quiet and relaxing and fun for the kids.

Romantic Get Away on Bass Lake

  • 5 of 5
Cute cottage with all amenities and more. Cottage has nice sandy frontage, fire pit and sleeping up to six (bunk beds/pull out sofa/master). Has a nice big wrap around porch with great view of the lake. We made it up for fall color tour, it is only a 10 minute drive to downtown Traverse City and a short scenic drive to Empire. Being the fall didn't get to use the lake at all, but looks like kayak, boats, fishing, and pontoons all around, would be a great place for family with kids to spend time on the lake in the summer. Dan and Nancy were great and they have done a great job decorating the cottage. We will be back for sure.

awesome!

  • 5 of 5
Our trip was perfect! The cottage had everything we could possibly need including cookware, food storage containers, plenty of towels and sand toys for the kids. Dan and Nancy were very friendly and helpful. The cabin was very clean and we had no issues with bugs, spiders etc. The kids wanted to spend every waking moment on the beach and the cabin became the vacation more than the local attractions. We cant wsit to come back next year.

Traverse City Lake Front Cottage on Bass Lake

Adorable, immaculate cottage. Weather was miserable (cloudy/rain), but proximity to good dining, and the comfort of this dear little cabin on the lake was outstanding. Would rent it again in a heart beat!

Great Lake side location

  • 4 of 5
The cabin accommodation was ideal for for my family of four. The kids loved the bunk beds although my two year old would struggle to get in the bottom bunk had she been any older. There was also a fan right above the bunks which we didn't use for safety reasons. The DVD player and wireless Internet was available on demand. The cabin was well equipped, clean, and cool with the ceiling fans. The outside of the accommodation was the best. Such a great deck area. We had all our meals and spent every evening out there. The beach was great, nice and shallow for the kids to jump and paddle. The location was perfect to allow us to explore the area. A great vacation.

What we needed!

  • 5 of 5
My husband is a "staycation" fan, while I love the beach, so this was the perfect cabin for us! The weather was great! Not too hot, but plenty of sun. The cabin had all the amenities that we needed for the week. I loved that there was even paper products and TP already there! The lake was quiet and our neighbors were friendly. Boone's Long Lake Inn and Moomers are minutes from the cabin; plus downtown Traverse City is a short drive away. We also drove a bit further to Sleeping Bear (an easy drive). We invited a couple over for a night and they wanted to stay for the rest of the week!

If staying with your family (more than 2-3 people): the bedrooms are small, but there is plenty of space in the living area (hopefully, you'll be outside most of the day!).

Beautiful, Relaxing and Pieceful

  • 5 of 5
If you just want to unwind and relax from the crazy hectic world we live in now a days. This is the place to be.
You can just have a cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate or what ever you prefer and you are looking at Bass Lake. What a view!! Unspeakable!
You don't hear the traffic or the car alarms going off like you would when you are in the city. Nothing but NATURE you will hear.
The cabin is very cozy. Very comfortable. Very roomy. You can have all the windows open for that fresh air. Also, it's safe enough that you do not have to lock your doors.
The owners were very helpful. They told us about and they had brouchers of Traverse City (great idea) and other places. The stores and restuarants (Boones Long Lake Inn).
I would 100% recommend this place to anyone who wants a little piece of quiet.
Love it. Will be returning next year around the same time. ;)
