Private mountain home with trout fishing. Many other activities in the area including white water rafting, hiking the Appalachian Trail and nearby lake. My wife and I built the house in 2006 and love spending time there with the kids. The home has an 80 foot front porch overlooking the river valley, downstairs game room with pool table and large flat screen television and a fully stocked kitchen and laundry room.

We live in Florida and enjoy taking a break from the heat of summer in the mountains.
The Owner purchased this cabin in 2006
Private property with 1,000 feet of river frontage and 1,000 feet of creek frontage available for an additional fee. The private property is located about 5 minutes from the house and has some of the best trout fishing in the area. Free river access is also available from the house but is part of the home owners association.
Beautiful cabin with a excellent view.Much better than the cabin we rented in Gatlinburg for more money per day.Cleaning service wasn't up to par. Lower floor was not cleaned.Candy wrappers, dirty boxer shorts and dead bugs.Owner of cabin said cleaning service was in process of changing ownership.Probably just a oversight.Pool was too far from cabin for walking, easier to drive there.Besides that, excellent place.Helen was only 20-25 minutes away.Would stay there again.
I stayed in the cabin for labor day with a group of friends and families. The cabin is very nice and we were all impressed once we stepped inside. The view is even better, plenty of mountains in the background and it truly is a sight to see. Our stay was more than enjoyable and the cabin was awesome. I recommend it to any big parties.
Our stay at the cabin was everything we had hoped it would be. The cabin is exactly as pictured and is nicely decorated. We vacationed there with our 3 adult sons and their families. A total of of 8 adults and 3 children. The view is fantastic and everyone was comfortable for sleeping. Twins slept on mats on the floor and my grandson on the den couch. We had fun at night playing pool, games and just hanging out. First time up the hill is a little intimidating but you get used to it. We hung the Hummingbird feeder and that was a big hit for EVERYONE!! The tiny birds are so precious and will come to feed even if you are close by. As with any vacation we were sad to leave but I am sure we will always remember and talk about this trip in years to come. April is exceptional about getting back to you for any questions you might have. Thank you April for letting us use your lovely cabin!!!!
The cabin was great and had everything needed to enjoy time away from home and relax for a while. Our entire stay was relaxing and more than enjoyable. The location is a close drive to many attractions which we enjoyed, but we mainly enjoyed the views from the back porch. We rarely turned on the television due to these gorgeous views and cool air. We found Hiawassee to be a very clean and peaceful town. We loved the Ingles grocery store and we wish we had one nearby our own home. The cabin was very spacious with plenty of room. With the layout and the gameroom being downstairs, it can be utilized and not bother anyone else upstairs that is enjoying the quiet. We found the property to be well maintained and clean, which is a must for me. The owner was more than accommodating with any questions that we had and prompt to answer them. We would recommend this property to our friends and family. We would love to rent it again as well.
We visit this area often and have tried a number of different accommodations. For this trip the weather did not cooperate, but thanks to April’s home we still had a fantastic stay! Let me preface what I am about to say with the admission that I am extremely picky about where we stay when we travel. (My husband and boys not so much.) I have a very nice home and do not like to leave it and stay in someplace worse. That said, April’s home is exactly what I would build if I had a home in the mountains. Beautiful and functional! The pictures on the site are good but they do not do it justice.
Our boys, now college age, really enjoyed the “kids cave.” It was downstairs, fully equipped with pool table, huge tv, wet bar, microwave, bedroom and a full bath! And best of all when we went to bed and they stayed up till all hours, we never heard a peep!
The master bedroom is large, comfortable and has windows that look out on the deck and a glorious mountain view. Being on the deck is worth the price of admission alone. It spans the entire length of the back of the house and has a picnic table and plenty of comfortable seating. We spent hours out there, (while the boys slept) relaxing in the peace and quiet and (sometimes) listening to the rain. It was nothing short of spectacular!
This home had everything we needed and all the extras to make it very special. April was a delight to deal with and made us feel like we were family. We are so grateful for the opportunity to stay in her lovely home and are looking forward to returning soon.
Thanks again April!
We decided to stay at the house after reading favorable reviews. When we arrived, the house looked clean; however there was a layer of dust on the nightstands next to our beds and on the headboards. Balcony was very dusty, to the point that we had to wipe the chairs and table ourselves before the use. But we did not mind the dust; since everything else looked OK and the view from the balcony was fantastic.
There are 4 bedrooms in the house. The room downstairs had strong musty smell; was very small and had no windows. After the first night, both people, who slept in the bedroom downstairs, ended up having bites all over their arms and backs. They thought they were bitten by mosquitoes and did not complain much.
The disappointment came after they awoke the next morning with terrible bites. They had a bad itch and looked miserable. When we checked the room, we found mold under the beds and the dead bug on the bed headboard.
The owner April was nice. She called a contractor and he took headboards apart right away. She provided an alternative night's accommodation for our friends at her expense. However, our friends decided not to stay another night and to leave early.
I would not recommend anyone to sleep in the bedroom downstairs.
Other than bed bugs our stay was very pleasant.
Free river access from cabin as part of the home owners association with additional 1,000 feet of private trout river on private property available for extra fee (5 minutes from cabin by car). Shaded part of the river with excellent fishing where it is not unusual to catch 12 to 18 inch trout (see photo of our nephew at bottom of the page).
