Royal Oak Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse, 4 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8), house is 4,041 square feet.

Historic Watch Goose Farm is now available as your private waterfront vacation destination. This family property (owned since 1942) can be enjoyed as a secluded and romantic getaway, or as a location for the active outdoor family vacation. Beautiful "Girls" Weekend

Beautiful "Girls" Weekend
  • 4 of 5
Six of us (plus one dog) gathered at Watch Goose Farm to celebrate all of our 40th birthdays and it was a great weekend. The home is beautiful, large, and a bit labyrinthian. It can take a few moments to figure out where you are and how to get to where you want to be within the house...but, that's half the fun. And, yes, you do have to watch your head going up and down stairs and through some of the older doorways, but even our 6'1" friend did ok here. The beds were comfortable, although those of us who slept on the second floor did discover that on warm/hot days, the window a/c units need to be started in the afternoon to adequately cool down the space for nighttime sleeping. The kitchen was very well equipped, including some high end cookware, and was a great place for cooking up breakfast and dinner...all of which were eaten in the bright and comfortable sun room. We spent most of our days poolside (we were lucky to get such a glorious weekend, weather-wise). The water views were spectacular and we saw a few Great Blue Herons. We talked about going out in the kayaks, but had a hard time wrenching ourselves away from the chaise lounges around the pool. Nancy was a great contact person and quick to answer all emails and phone calls. All in all, a splendid time was had by all of us.

A hidden Gem.

A beautiful house in a beautiful setting. The owner and her brother are very accommodating. The house has so much to offer, family friendly and just relaxing. The views were breathtaking, I have nothing but good reviews from all of my family members that came to visit. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Amazing, amazing, amazing!

I brought together a group of guys for the July 4th weekend to relax and enjoy the summer weather without traveling all the way to Rehoboth. This place was everything one could ask for!

The whole experience was like a Ralph Lauren commercial - the backyard really is stunning. There's close to no cell reception and the internet is intermittent, which was a welcome respite from the usual sort-of-on-vacation/sorta still working all the time trip.

There's no doubt in my mind we'll be back! Thanks Nancy!

Great Eastern Shore Historic House

  • 4 of 5
Three generations of our family rented the house for Thanksgiving. It was a terrific place to spend the holiday – and it would be even better when the weather is warm so that guests can take advantage of all the outdoor activities.

The house is historic, with some rooms dating to the 1700s while others were built quite recently. It makes for an eclectic and interesting mix of spaces, which my family loved. The ceilings and doorways in the oldest part of the house are low, but it wasn’t really a problem even for those of us over six feet tall. Three of the four bedrooms are accessible only by climbing winding stairways, which may be difficult for people with mobility issues. However, the fourth and largest bedroom is on the main level and does not require guests to go up or down steps.

The kitchen is large and has enough room for several people to make a big meal. It’s also extremely well appointed for cooking. Because we were there for Thanksgiving, the owners installed a new fridge and stove before we arrived, which was an extremely conscientious thing to do.

The building layout is ideal for a large group. It lets some guests gather together in one part of the house while others can simultaneously get some quiet time if they like. There are lots of games and things for groups of people to do, both indoors and outside.

As others have indicated, the wifi and mobile phone service is poor. We didn’t mind but it’s something to consider if you will absolutely need access during your stay.

We really enjoyed the house and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Beautiful Property

  • 5 of 5
My family rented this property for my dad's 75th birthday celebration and wish we had more time there. My dad is a hard man to please, but he loved it and is talking about coming back next year.

The house itself has so much character. Yes, some of the stairways are narrow and winding and a few ceilings are low, but the four guys in my family between 6'1" and 6'5" survived.

The pictures of the house online really do not do this property justice. Both the outdoors and indoors are much more impressive in person...plus, the pictures neglect to include the biggest room in the house with its vaulted ceilings and loft area (no worries about bumping our heads in this room).

The only negative was the slow wireless and poor cell phone reception...but even that ended up being a positive because we were able to enjoy nature without checking our phones, iPads, etc. every minute. The house does have Direct TV, so we were able to watch TV when we felt like it.

The outdoors are so relaxing, whether we were fishing off the dock, swimming in the pool, taking the kayaks out onto the water, or using the gas grill to cook lunch. Our young children loved it too, but I would recommend keeping an eye on children because the pool is not fenced.

The owners were great too. Before we arrived, I emailed Nancy with a lot of questions about the property, and she answered them quickly. She also was very helpful once we arrived, but gave us our space after we checked in.

I would highly recommend this property to other renters and would love to visit Watch Goose Farm again.

Perfect for a Girls Weekend Retreat

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at this home for a bachelorette party weekend. The house is very well kept and large enough to accomodate a big group. We found it nice that our group could be visiting in different areas of the house or be in one room all together. The living room is particularly nice for larger groups to hang out and have space to sit and relax.
The outdoor space is also very nice. The option of having your own pool with boats to take out on the lake was incredible. We also found ourselves hanging out at the end of the dock where there is some seating. The dock was a beautiful place for watching sunsets and the stars at night.
Also, the home is close enough to the downtown St. Michael's area it was no trouble getting back and forth. Nancy (the owner) gave us a particularly helpful tip to coordinate our transportation with a local bar, Carpenter Street Saloon, which helped us all get home safely from our bachelorette bar hop.
Everyone said that they would love to come back! I'm sure the fall would be a beautiful time of the year at this home.
