Located on a hill behind WindCradle Renewal Center, the yurt/hermitage nestles in the woods, looking high over Lake Superior. Twenty feet in diameter, with a skylight and many windows, our yurt is an encircling nest for renewal and reconnecting with self, nature and the divine. Those staying in the yurt use WindCradle's amenities: sauna, labyrinth, meditation chapel, beach, and trails to the Superior Hiking Trail.
Besides offering a space for renewal, the yurt includes optional spiritual direction and wilderness guiding into the nearby Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and other parks.
Within the yurt's circle are several areas: one with cooking capability and dishes, another with comfy chairs, a dining table, futon and book shelves. Light is from propane wall lamps, candles and LED lanterns. A propane heater takes the chill off in the mornings.
In keeping with our sustainablity efforts, the yurt has a Biolet (swedish composting toilet) in a small room outside; water is brought in; an outdoor shower is behind the sauna.
