Traditional stone house in picturesque village, self catering summer rental

Spiti Anna is an old stone farmhouse which has been lovingly restored to create a warm and comfortable atmosphere. The living room is spacious with original wooden floor and lovely outlook. The kitchen is modern and well equipped but retains the original stone oven. The dining room /TV room opens onto the kitchen. Two charming bedrooms open onto the lower garden. The outside upper terrace has a built-in barbecue and the balcony, which is ideal for evening dining, has a splendid view down a valley of cypress and olive trees to the sea. The garden is on different levels offering a variety of secluded seating areas. A hammock, strung between the fig and olive tree makes a siesta tempting and creates a perfect swing for children. This is an ideal self-catering summer rental for those wanting to get away from it all and discover an untouched part of Greece.

Only two and a half hours from Athens airport, the village of Raptei offers a traditional way of life, long gone from most of Greece. It is well situated for walking and exploring yet close to spectacular beaches and lively cafes and tavernas. 5 kms away is the magnificent beach of Limnionas with wonderful snorkeling and excellent fish tavernas.10 kms away is the seaside town of Nea Styra, where there are many cafes, supermarkets and shops - post office bank etc. The area is interesting historically, not least for the famous prehistoric Dragon Houses of Styra. Karystos, one hour drive south of Raptei, is dominated by a Venetian castle and has a charming archaeological museum.

Other Activities: Swimming/snorkeling, visiting ancient historic sites, sampling local cuisine, farmers' market,watching sunset and evening promenade.

  • There are two large bedrooms on the lower floor. The main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. Both bedrooms have views down valley to sea and both open onto a garden with sitting area. Both large living room and dining rooms have comfortable beds which act as sofas during the day. There is also a roll -away bed suitable for a child or small adult and a cot can be organised.

The house is on two floors. Downstairs has two bedrooms and one bathroom. Upstairs has entrance hall, living room, dining room with TV, which opens onto kitchen. Large bathroom upstairs.

Do you like reading a book in perfect atmosphere ?

We spent a fortnight in Spiti Anna in late summer 2010.
My wife is an architect. She fell in love immediately with the pictures on Spiti Anna´s homepage while trying to find a holiday location for our family with three children between 9 and 13 years of age.
The owner lives nearby and is a very pleasant guide to the village and its history.
We felt Spiti Anna gave us a lot of energy thanks to it authentic style, its extremely quiet location and Anne, the owner and rebuilder of the house and the real heart of Spiti Anna.
The island of Evia offers plenty of uncrowded beaches (we spent end of season holidays there) and a very agreeable climate due to plenty of sunshine with refreshing warm winds.
We would recommend Spiti Anna to families with children up to the age of around twelve years, children above that age might feel a bit to far away from interesting "hot spots".
One thing to mention is, that we found it very useful to have travelled by car, because the variety of nice sightseeings and beaches is restricted to people who can manage to make many kilometers a day.
If you are a keen walker you might like to walk to get your daily food in the centre of the village or even walk to the beach, but it´ll take you around 15 or 45 mins respectively - one way.
As an ecologically correct tourist you might find it a better idea to bring a donkey to Greece.
Enjoy Spiti Anna !

SPITI ANNA

We (58, 59 and 28) spent the beginning of September 2009 in this lovely house. It really felt like home: nice rooms, good beds, lots of books to read, lovely garden, well equipped kitchen, and even a television with BBC World. And what a view from the window and the terrass! The peace and quiet of the house and its surroundings were just what the doctor ordered. You do need a car to get around but then you can get to some of the best beaches in Greece! The sea is just amazing.The house is not situated in a real village, so no shops and restaurants, but there are enough places short distances away to do your shopping and for eating out. The trip from the mainland to Evia was very special too: you get to this 'harbour' (a tiny strip of beach where you can drive your car onto the ferry) and then you get a trip of about an hour which is just beautiful. On our way in it was hot and sunny and ten days later on our way out it was like autumn but equally beautiful.
Well, I could go on and on but hope this impression will be helpful. Do go to Spiti Anna, it's truly fantastic and unforgettable for us...

An idyllic property

Unlike other holiday villas this is a real home, lovingly restored and full of books and photographs. It is well equipped and had everything we need. My partner and I spent so much of our romantic holiday there surrounded by peace and quiet and stunning flora and fauna. It is truly beautiful and the area is unspolit and inexpensive. You need a car and there are neighbours nearby but you only see them when they pop by to give you some local produce - wonderful. If you love the real Greece, you'll love Spiti Anna

Springtime visit

This beautiful and charming house is situated in the center of a typical Greek small, non-touristic village. From the terrass you can see the sea. Two beaches near the house are lovely and unspoiled, one of them has a nice restaurant.

The house itself is perfect and as the owner discripes. All facilities in and around the house are very good and well maintained.

The area around is perfect for walking, swimming and relaxing.

It is back to basic and we loved it!
