BEAUTIFUL FARMHOUSE IN ALENTEJO, WITH PRIVATE POOL, IN PEACEFUL VILLAGE.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at here. However, the owners are abroad and an agency is now managing this property. Therefore, the level of maintenance and service was not as good as the previous reviews. The property internally is stunning - spacious, well decorated, clean and very homely. The village is quite and peaceful with 50 inhabitants - very friendly people. However, there is no guest manual with house information (the electricity cut during our stay and after much searching, we located the fuse box behing a painting!), local information so we were unaware of local information, shops and services. This came through by email after we contacted the agency. We were only given one key which would have been a problem had we been a larger party. The garden area was not well maintained and the pool had quite a lot of moss/algae. This was cleaned after a few days but the fragments of moss etc. remained in the pool and floated around when you entered the water. There is not enough garden furniture for the size of house (2 deck chairs). You could see that maintenance work had been done to the property, but there was a cement mixer and building materials on the site which you wouldn't expect on a rental villa. Lastly, whilst the kitchen is very well equipped with crockery and cooking equipment, we felt some basic provisions would have been useful. Salt, pepper, tea, coffee. The dishwasher had run out of rinse aid and salt and we were asked to buy and replenish this ourselves. I appreciate there is a lot of negativity listed above, but we did enjoy ourselves and had a very relaxing stay. I just felt that the service/lack of additional touches let it down slightly and that this is all down to the absence of the owners.
