Welcome to the gites Tchicoy - 4 apartments within a barn conversion situated in rural SW France and benefiting from oceanic climate with mild winters, long and warm summers. Each apartment (1 & 2 bedrooms-sleep max 4 to 6 people) offer original features with modern furnishings, rustic style kitchen, spacious open plan living accommodation, own entrance, French window to private terrace, downstairs bathroom with wet room - decorated and furnished to a very high standard. Located in quiet area, surrounded by pine trees, yet within 15km of a lake, 30km of Atlantic coast & sandy beaches of Biscarosse & Arcachon and 50km from Bordeaux, its famous wine chateaux & cellars! With its own entrance, this apartment can sleep a max of 4 people. The gite is wheelchair accessible with all facilities on the ground floor. Rustic style kitchen of 9m2 with high quality equipment (kettle, toaster, saucepans & pans, pressure cooker, dishwasher, microwave, oven etc). Spacious open plan living/dining area of 16m2 equipped with LCD TV, DIVX, sofa bed that can sleep 2 and all the essential furniture you would have at home! Double 13m2 bedroom with double bed and 7m2 bathroom with a walk in double shower & marble flooring. The 10m2 private and covered terrace includes table & chairs. The gite is furnished and decorated to a very high standard, equipment and furnishings making it very comfortable, homely and cosy but with modern contemporary design and style. Within 1/2hr drive, golden sandy beaches of Biscarosse, Petit Nice & La Sallie. Arcachon, its beach, bustling harbour, day/evening activities & entertainment and Dune du Pyla (118m high sand dune) are 30km away. Lets not forget the famous Medoc & St Emilion Chateaux & Bordeaux within 1hr drive. The area is also well-known for its array of attractions, rich heritage, Parc Regional des Landes, Cap Ferret Lighthouse and Le Teich bird reserve famous for storks. If you are a food & wine lover, the area is definitely a must! Pyrenees 2hrs, Spanish border 1 1/2hr. Ideally located whether you are looking for a family holiday, a quiet romantic break, an activity packed week or simply a week away from it all.

Additional information about rental rates

  • With the high exchange rate at the moment, I will accept payment in British Pounds - Please ask me at time of enquiry and will try to accommodate as much as I can if this is easier for you. 25% deposit will be requested at time of booking.

    I am flexible of changeover day depending on the period you are interested in, feel free to ask me.

    Please note there is a minimum of 2 nights stay for the weekend (Fri/Sat or Sat/Sun). I will also take bookings for 3 nights (Fri, Sat & Sun) and prices will decrease for 2 or more nights stay – please ask me at time of booking. Prices are per gites, not per person!

    Gites will be let for a minimum of one week during July & August. Normal arrival time is 2.00pm, departure is 10.00am - If you wish to arrive earlier and/or leave later, again I am flexible, please just ask me.

  • The spacious bathroom (nearly 7m2) comprises a double walk in shower with marble flooring, double shower head, bowl type sink, heated towel rail and toilet. There is plenty of space for all your toiletries - I know how frustrating it can be when you rent somewhere and there is no room in the bathroom to put your toiletries away! This is not the case here! High quality cotton cloth, hand and bath towels can be provided for 4 euros per person.

Notes: Child's highchair, cot & bed linen can be rented - 8 euros/week for a high chair and 12 euros/week for cot & bedding - please let me know in advance if you wish to do so. I also have some bikes for hire as well as helmets - I have not got that many so please let me know if you are thinking of renting any and avoid disappointment once you are here as there are not many bike renting shops around! Breakfast (fresh bread, croissants/pain au chocolat, hot drink, juice, cereals, fruits, yogurt) available on request. I can also provide you with some 'panier pique nique' - again, just ask me! Welcoming and comfortable gite for restful holiday

We stayed at this property, which was exactly what we wanted for a restful week. It is a modern barn conversion, in a quiet rural village - but within easy reach of Bordeaux airport (c. 40 kms), and no more than a hour by car from Archachon and the Atlantic Coast at Cap Ferret and Lacanau. The welcome that we received from the owner (who lives nearby and speaks perfect English as well as French) was fantastic, and the gite was very comfortable. We would recommend this gite (called Le Dorset) for couples - although there is a couch bed in the living room, as well as the single bedroom, with nice double (queen sized) bed. There are three other gites, for larger numbers, in the same barn conversion, and so the entire group of gites would be suitable for a larger family, or groups of friends. A car is essential, and helped us to reach the beautiful area of Archachon, for beaches, nature observation or watersports. The Medoc wine area is also an easy drive away. The market in Salles village (c. 3km) on a Thursday has regional specialities as well as the usual food and clothes.
