Fantastic holiday - thank you!
We have been cycling - loved la boude d'isoard, Madeleine, croix de fer and galibier. Local rides to lea berade and Villard notre dame/Villard R also fab - take lights for the tunnels!
We came to Bourg d'Oisans for a week bicycling in the mountains(8 persons). The location of the house was absolutely perfect. The house itself is modern, clean and definitely well equipped. A great garage(good for bicycles), a big garden and a good working Weber bbq.. The communication and payment of the deposit were no problem at all.(owner lives in UK and we come from Holland). We loved the house so match that we probably come back next year! And off course we have to set a new time record on the Alpe D’-Huez.
This house is an excellent base for a self drive ski holiday. Only 8 hours from Calais, the house is only a few minutes from either Les deux Alpes or Alpe D'Huez. We drove 25 minutes to Vaujany (linked to Alpe D'huez) everyday where our little boy stayed in an excellent Creche recommended by the house owners. With free underground parking just by the lift, it was a great ski base. The house itself was beautifuly decorated, really clean and full of all mod cons. The owners had also put out a great welcome basket which helped make us feel really at home. The high chair and cot that were provided proved really useful as we didn't have to transport our own. Having two bathrooms, is very handy especially as everyone dived for the showers in the morning and afternoon and there was always plenty of hot water. The house is well placed in the village - only a couple of minutes walk from either the town centre with its shops, bars and restaurants, and only very close to a large well stocked supermarket. We would definately recommend the property and have already booked the house for a summer break in June this year.
Mark and Tanya, the owners have been really helpful in ensuring that all of our holiday needs were met and have a great knowledge of the area which all helps to make the holiday easier for you. Thanks both!!!
Me and my family went to the house this summer 2009. We went there on vacation and to participate in one of many bike races in the area all summer. The area have the best and toughest climbs in the world, and of course the most famous Alpe d' Huez in your back garden :-)
The area is perfect for all outdoor activities: Cycling, walking, rafting, hang gliding, skiing etc. Tour de France is every year passing trough Bourg d' Oisans.
A very nice public swimming pool with life guards are located 50m from the house. Perfect for cooling down after a hot day.
The house was super clean and had a very high comfort level. Everything in the house are new and perfect. There are also a nice garage where you can have your bikes, skiis etc. This was also a cool place on the hot days.
Bourg are a nice little French city with a nice supermarket, restaurants and shops for outdoor activities.
Regards from me and my family to the perfect hosts. Tanya really do everything to give you all info you want.
We stayed during Easter 2009 and had a fantastic holiday. We have never visited the area before and were greeted by beautiful scenery as we entered Bourg D’oisans. The accommodation is situated right in the heart of the mountains, wonderful views all around. The house was fully equipped, clean and extremely comfortable. The bedrooms were spacious, with plenty of storage for bulky snow gear. We had a fantastic view of the mountains from our bedroom window, what a view to wake up to each morning! Two bathrooms, ideal for that mad rush to the slopes each morning ! Kitchen had everything you could ask for, particularly a dishwasher ! The dining room had plenty of space for us all to sit and eat and the lounge was very comfortable and relaxing, again with stunning views of the mountains.
The village has everything you need, 5 minutes walk away is the Casino supermarket, which has everything you need - food, wine, beer, DIY, clothes, even sledges !!!
The local market on a Saturday morning is something not to be missed, local produce and the chance to try food from the region - a great experience. The house is opposite the open air pool, which was closed for the winter, but perfect for the summer holiday with the kids.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first holiday here and will definitely be coming back. We tried out the slopes at Vaujany and Alpe d'huez, my daughter tried skiing for the first time, perfect for beginners as well as the experienced skier. We hope to be back and experience the area in the summer months for cycling and walking and seeing the views again. Can’t wait to come back.
We were in Bourg d'Oisans for a great cycling event on Alpe d 'Huez for the Dutch Cancer foundation. We had a great time in a wonderful house, nice furnished, a great view on the mountains with the snow. The position of the house is near the village and near the Alpe d 'Huez. It's a perfect place to stay and we will come back next year. That's for sure.
We stayed in Bourg d' Oisans in May 2009 for a week and it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. The village is absolutely stunning, surrounded by breathtaking snow capped mountains and has a clear blue river running through the heart of it.
When we arrived at the house we got even more excited, it is situated in prime position within the Village and the views from every window are spectacular. The house has been finished to an extremely high standard and is very well furnished and clean. We cooked in a few of the nights and the kitchen is very spacious and stocked with everything you can imagine. We enjoyed chilling out in the living room at the end of the night, which had comfy sofas and more than enough room for everyone. Despite a lovely dinning room one of our favourite things to do was to relax on the patio at night with a glass of Rose taking in the views and fresh mountain air, then looking up at the stars at night.
The bedrooms are very spacious with lots of wardrobe and drawer space in each room and the beds are very comfy so that you can get a sound nights sleep. There were six of us staying and we found it very handy having the two bathrooms.
Opposite the house there is an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and an area for basketball, which kept everyone entertained. It is a short walk into the village where you can find an amazing patisserie (lovely croissants and cakes to die for!!!), cafes and bars. You can find excellent food at the traditional local market on Saturday (Especially the cheese), where the locals are very friendly. The food at the restaurants is fresh, delicious and well priced and we enjoyed the pizza at La Romanche. If you are eating in you can find everything at the local supermarket, which also sells clothes, flip flops etc just in case you forget some essentials, but is still very French. The village caters for all and there is a lovely children’s park just around the corner from the house. We enjoyed going on long bike rides along the river where we discovered ancient ruins and walks up in the mountains where you can still find snow in May!
This was a brilliant place to stay, the house was excellent value for money and was perfect for our stay in Bourg and we will definitely be booking up again. The only question now is whether we go in the winter for the skiing and snow or the spring/summer for the hot weather, bike rides and afternoons sat out at the cafes! - Wish we could do both!!!!
A perfect position for summer and winter activities including walking, climbing, skiing, horse riding, cycling, rafting, canoeing, swimming, fishing, golf, parapenting and adventure park. There are many cycle routes start from Bourg, the famous 21 hair pin bends in Alpe d'Huez included. A short walk to the heart of the beautiful friendly village of Bourg d'Oisans which hosts several restaurants, shops, cafes, a large supermarket and a bustling Saturday market. The house is next to communal tennis, bouledrome and summer open air pool with toddler pool, water slide and grass area for picnics. The village of Venosc is a must as is historic Grenoble with its shops and museum. The surrounding Ecrins National Park offers over 680km of marked strolls or hikes depending on your mood. WINTER - You are well placed to select the 'best snow' both Alpe d'Huez (20mins) and Les 2 Alpes (30 mins) are high resorts offering free parking or you have the pretty tree lined resort of Vaujany (20 mins)
Other Activities: White water rafting, Adult/Child Tree Climbing park.
Ski: Bourg d'oisans is situated in a perfect location with a choice of 3 ski resorts close by. Alpe D'Huez is 15 mins away - we are situated at the base of the hairpin bend. Vaujany is 25 mins and 30 mins to Les Deux Alpes. All resorts have ample free parking and you can ski from Alpe D'Huez to Vaujany to make a real day of travelling the mountains. Enjoy skiing in the sunshine valley which provides perfect skiing for all levels. Also for non skiers you can enjoy the warmth of being in the valley whilst the rest of your party head for the hills and snow.
