HISTORIC BIRDIE'S COTTAGE, HOT TUB, 1 BLK TO BEACH, 1.5 BLKS TO PROMENADE/RIVER

Seaside Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Immaculate, Delightful Little Cottage, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 3)

Please take a moment to read our current TRAVELER REVIEWS and you'll understand why our cottage will be perfect for your upcoming visit!

Cozy and Charming! Perfect for up to three seeking a relaxing, special and immaculate little home to nestle in and enjoy all the benefits of being in a wonderful Seaside environment!

Located next to Historic Scout's Cottage (VRBO listing,#405286), both cottages are available to rent and will accommodate up to 10 guests.

Irresistible, immaculate and fun. This unique little vacation home and the landscaped yard have been beautifully maintained for 36 years by their owners, a Portland Architect and Portland Artist.

Historic Birdie's Cottage is located on a quiet deadend street. However, within minutes you can be at the beach (1 block), on the Promenade (1.5 blocks), fishing and crabbing at the River (1.5 blocks). The Convention Center and downtown are within walking distance or a 2-4 minute drive.

Close to Astoria and Cannon Beach. Gearhart, a charming little village, is 3 minutes away from your front door.

This charming all-seasons retreat includes a one-of-a-kind cottage with special collections, original artwork, an amazing fully equipped galley kitchen, gas fireplace, and two bedrooms.

There's an outdoor swing (for all ages), a trellis clothesline which you can light up and enjoy in the evenings. (The switch is on the inside the cottage.), a outdoor shower, and a Hot Tub and all in a beautifully landscaped yard.

The cottage's personality-filled rooms hold a variety of 1940s and '50s unique collections, a large collection of movies to enjoy and an array of books for you to read.

HISTORIC BIRDIE'S COTTAGE:

Walk down the stone pathway and smell the roses and other flowers in bloom. Take a minute to listen and smell the nearby ocean.

When you open the door to the cottage you are in for a treat! High gloss white paint covers the wood walls in the living room making it light and airy. A secret door in the living room holds snow domes on glass shelves, collected abroad and around the USA.

This is the heart of Birdie's Cottage: collections of souvenirs and memories displayed in every room of this special home. One knotty pine wall displays the unusual souvenir wooden sign plaques originally found in almost every souvenir shop across the USA from the early 1930s until the late 1950s. These gems are recycled gifts made from thin slices of tree stumps. Most have funny sayings on them along with a stamp or decal naming the location where they were sold.

Comfortable seating, a green enamel gas fireplace, original artwork, books to read, movies to watch; everything you need to make yourself at home.

The kitchen is filled with modern appliances nestled in with charming collections from the 40s and 50s. Fully equipped with a dishwasher, a coffeemaker, a microwave and all the other necessary kitchen equipment. You just supply the food! And the gas stove/oven is a workhorse!

In the Twin Bedroom there is a reading library. And if anyone wants to see a children's movie just open the bottom dresser drawer. You'll be able to select from over a dozen of the best Disney's films ever made. Lots of games and board games in this bedroom.

The Double Bed Bedroom has a comfy bed surrounded by paint-by-numbers hung on the wall. The bench in this bedroom has 2 purposes, one to allow guests to sit on it and two, to open up the bench seat and select one of over 200 DVDs and VHS movies! There are even more movies under the bench.

This is Historic Birdie's Cottage, a very special place in Seaside. We welcome you!

We are a Portland Architect and a Portland Artist who have owned Birdie's Cottage and Scout's Cottage since 1978. The two homes were built in the early 1920s and were part of a motel with drive-in units. Sadly, all but the main house and the laundry/fish cleaning unit survived after a fire erupted one night. We rescued them from being demolished by the City of Seaside and the two of us started working to restore them.

We focused on honoring their past and providing modern conveniences to make our guests feel welcomed and comfortable. We now proudly share them with you.

Another lovely stay at Birdie's Cottage! We've started a tradition staying once a year now, and always look forward to the escape that Birdie's provides. Peace and quiet, close to the beach, everything you'd need to cook at home, incredibly charming decor and a hot tub to boot. Looking forward to coming back next year! Or sooner :)

My boyfriend and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time staying at Birdie's Cottage this past weekend...and we plan on returning soon! The owner, Kay, was on top of our financial transactions and supplying us with the information we needed for our stay. I decided to mail a check for the deposit, and she let me know via email as soon as she received it. And, on our departure day she emailed me to let me know that the housekeeper said that the place was spotless and that she was shredding my check. I really appreciated these communications.

The photos online are not deceiving...the cottage is adorable, and definitely compact. We felt like we knew exactly what to expect, and upon our arrival felt satisfied with the cottage's appearance, etc. Beach access is close, as well as the beginning of the promenade walkway...great location. When I was cooking, I felt that everything I needed was supplied and easy to locate. It was cold at night (outside) during our stay and we felt that the heaters worked really well and kept us cozy. Basically, there wasn't a moment when my boyfriend and I complained about a house feature or said we wished that they had something...we were very happy staying there.

Owner's Response: Laura, I was delighted that you were able to stay at our little cottage and that you and your boyfriend had a memorable time. You were a delight to communicate with and it pleases me that you felt I served you well.
Your review is so heartfelt and I know others will appreciate you taking the time to inform them of how your visit to Birdie's Cottage was. Kay

Very nice small cottage

The owner was very helpful when contacted before our trip. The pictures provided were an accurate representation of the cottage. It is small, but I can highly recommend it for two adults and one child. Very close to the beach and the tourist area with places like the Carousel Mall and one of our favorite restaurants, the Pig and Pancakes.

Owner's Response: Dear Hurrell,
You and your wife came a long distance to enjoy the Oregon Coast with your grandson. I'm so pleased that you found Birdie's Cottage to be the right size for your stay.
You were so nice to work with and to help organize your trip to Seaside.
We are especially proud of how close we are to the ocean; only one block. And that once you arrive at the beach you are at a part of the Seaside beach that is rarely used by the public and allows you to have the beach and ocean to yourselves. I hope you all will come again to Oregon. Kay

Cozy comfort close to the beach

My boyfriend and I spent Thanksgiving and several subsequent evenings at Birdie's Cottage, and we're so glad we did! We arrived stressed from a month of long work deadlines, and we left feeling relaxed and at ease. We particularly enjoyed the proximity of the beach and the coziness of the cottage, as well as listening to the rain on the roof at night. The kitchen and bathroom are tiny, but that just adds to the charm. Overall, a great place to land for an autumn trip to Seaside!

Owner's Response: Dear Lisa and Seth,
Thank you for your review of Birdie's Cottage. Oregon has had such a mild winter and I am so pleased that you were able to enjoy the weather (even the rainy ones) and get a chance to relax. Seaside is so close to Portland and once you arrive at Birdie's Cottage, our guests reply that they feel like they've shed the daily stress of their lives and gained new energy to return to the city and their jobs!
Thank you for being such lovely guests. Please return soon. Kay
