Large three bedroom, two bath beach house with full kitchen and washer/dryer. A private easement leads you to a white sand beach for kite surfing, windsurfing, stand-up-paddle surfing, swimming, snorkeling and long beach walks. Centrally located for easy driving to the many destinations around Maui. Convenient to shops, restaurants and groceries in Paia or Kahului. Fruit trees and garden will provide samples of the many Hawaiian varieties that flourish here.
There is a king bed in the master bedroom with a private bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen bed and the third bedroom has a double and a twin bed. These two rooms share a bathroom with a bathtub and a private outside shower. There is a WI-FI, TV, DVD player, and basic cable. There is a monitor and speakers to connect to a computer for movie watching, etc. A charcoal grill by the private lanai offers a popular spot to relax in the evenings. This house is private, quiet and a location loved by everyone who visits.
There is mild airport noise. Airport hours are from 5:30am to 11:30pm.
Really nice beach house. Laid back feel and a great place to relax. We were a group of cyclists and windsurfers so it suited us fine. Windsurfing right out the front meant never having to load gear in and out of a car. And Spreckelsville is a great location to start many of the nice bike rides around Maui.
The house is located very close to the airport so does suffer from noise. We never let it bother us as most of the day we weren't there or were too tired to care. But the occasional overnight flight will almost certainly wake you. For us the location outweighed the inconvenience of the noise. Aside from the air traffic noise, the house is located is a very peaceful, quiet neighbourhood.
A car is necessary staying here as there are no shops nearby. Plenty of nice restaurants 4km down the road in Paia. And a nearby bike path offers a short ride into Kahului.
Overall, a great place to relax, enjoy the beach and everything else north shore Maui has to offer. I'd definitely stay here again.
We just stayed at the Banana Plantation for this summer's Family Vacation: my husband & I, along with two grown children, two high-school aged children and my husband's mother, who celebrated her 75th birthday. We had a fantastic time. The pictures give an accurate view of the beautiful lush gardens. The house is spacious; everyone had a bed and there was plenty of space for us all to spread out. The VRBO "ad" mentioned mild noise from airport traffic. It's true - you are near the airport. You will notice some planes take off on the first day or two, but then you quickly do not notice it. If the photos of the Banana Plantation "speak" to you, follow your gut instinct. We did and are so happy we made that decision. January was an excellent hostess and made us feel right at home. We will definitely stay here any time we revisit Maui.
We recommend this site to anyone. Old and young. Couples, large groups. It makes a great home base as you take day trips to explore the island. But also take advantage of the nearly private beach you have access to each day. We enjoyed that as well, in between our adventures exploring the island.
Our New Zealand family stayed at the lovely "Banana Plantation" for a week, and had a wonderful time! The cute house and yard were set up perfectly for our pre and post wedding party activities, with heaps of space and amenities. The whole setting is truly charming, and we of course loved the beautiful private beach. We had some ripping surf sessions, with the big waves all to ourselves! We highly recommend staying here, especially since it's tucked into the best part of Maui (away from tourists), with the rest of Maui so conveniently accessible. Overall, staying here really drew us closer together and we hope to return someday!
We visited the Banana Plantation Beach House for a Christmas New Years family vacation; 3 adults, a 12 and 5 year old. The house is very spacious, has a genuine nostalgic feel to it, and is excellently suited for families who enjoy (or like to experience) the life at Maui's North Shore. The kids enjoyed playing in the spacious yard.
A wind/kitesurf beach is directly accessible from the property. It allowed me to go windsurfing and SUPping, while the rest of my family was enjoying the beach, which was also great for longer walks.
Paia city center is a 10 minute drive away, while all the North Shore (wind)surf beaches are within a 20 minute drive.
The host is very friendly and thoughtful. She surprised us with Christmas lights and fresh fruit on several occasions.
We hope to visit this house again!
- 2nd row house
- beach within 100 step distance - almost a private beach
- excellent for windsurfing (camp one)
- you can leave your quiver rigged on the lawn of the garden
- awesome and well maintained garden with wonderful fruit to relish
(bananas, papaya, lemon, starfruit, figues, lilikoi and more)
- big, well equipped house
- friendly and helpful care keeper
NOT to be RECOMMENDED to people that are SENSITIVE TO NOISE!
The property is located almost in the extension of the airstrip of Kahuluhi airport. When you talk to somebody you might want to wait when a plane just started a couple of seconds to continue talking. Cargo planes leave also at 3 am.
But, I i.e.am not sensitive to noise and hardly ever woke up from air traffic.
