These luxurious ski chalet style apartments are located in the high altitude ski resort of Val Claret in Tignes, the popular high altitude ski resort in France. IDEAL for a LATE or EARLY SEASON WEEK, as the snow record is second to none! We ski earlier and later at Tignes than anyone else!!

Adjacent to the apartment is a restaurant

Val Claret itself is packed with over 20 restaurants, as well as bars and nightclubs.

Supermarkets are a 4 minute walk.

Free car parking beneath the apartment is included and is accessed by a lift.

Being one of the highest resorts in Europe, Tignes also offers more skiing in winter and in summer than pretty well anywhere else, thanks to its high altitude skiing on the Grande Motte glacier and its commitment to maintain a vertical of at least 1000 metres for eight months of the year. Sharing the vast and exciting 'l'Espace Killy ' ski area with Val d'Isère, purpose-built Tignes has the stronger French influence.

In summer, we include a Tignes sports card, which allows 22 free activites ( weather permitting), plus the ski lifts are free for pedestrians and bike riders.

This 4 star 2 bedroom ski chalet style apartment is spacious for French ski resorts with 45m² living space. The living area and includes an open plan kitchen-dining room, which can seat 6 comfortably, a lounge with satellite TV looks out to the balcony. There are two double/twin bedrooms , together with the bathroom and separate WC . The kitchen is equipped with a 4 pan ceramic hob, with extractor, full size dishwasher, combination forced air and microwave oven, large fridge and coffee maker This is a perfect ski apartment for a family, it is set in a quiet area, away from the late night revelers routes, but only 5 minutes away from the centre of Val Claret with over 20 restaurants.

About Louise Stephen

We moved to France in 2003 and started a family with two children born in the Pyrenees, close to the Spanish Border. We all love skiing and live 45 minutes from a small resort in SW France. We speak French, so we can usually organise anything needed and deal with the unexpected .

Why Louise Stephen chose Tignes Val Claret

We bought this property off-plan before it was built. The reasoning was that the builders (MGM), specialised in high quality buildings using traditional wood and stone, cladding a high-tech frame, fitted out and furnished to a high specification.

Tignes was chosen for its huge ski area, and high altitude, giving it a sure snow record and longer season.

What makes this apartment unique

Its hard to find 4 star accommodation, with easy access to the slopes, shops, yet away from the main revelers routes. We have found the perfect apartment, and we manage to rent it at a 20% discount to the rest of the apartments in the same building.

We provide a free Sport Tignes card, for all summer bookings in July and August, this card enables 8 people to have free access to 22 different summer sports and activities. Also the ski lifts are free for summer users.

Lovely, warm, well equipped apartment

The owner's instructions were excellent, as were all the communications, and all the recommendations and advice given were good. The apartment is quite small but ideal for us 2 adults with 17 and 19 year-old "kids". Our two decided to split up so they took turns between the second bedroom and sleeping on the lovely, large and comfortable sofa bed in the lounge. As others have said, I think 6 adults would be a squeeze (esp as the kitchen area is tiny) but it worked well for us.

The apartment seems quite new, is well looked after and is very well equipped with lots of pots, pans, cutlery, utensils (including the sharpest knives I have ever used!), plates, glasses, etc.. One thing, though, if you drink as much tea as my wife does - take your own big mugs if that is what you are used to!

There is a separate WC and the bathroom is warm, very clean and tidy and has the best shower we've ever used - powerful enough to blow you across the bath! Lovely!

The TV (with BBC1 and 2, Bloomberg and others, as well as French channels) and iPod docking station were all well used at the end of the skiing day, and the place is very comfortable to unwind in.

The ski lockers are warm and not at all smelly, which is unique in our experience of such places, so our gear was nice and dry each day. It is also just one floor down in the lift, so very handy, You then just walk out through the underground car park right out on to the street.

The Chalet Bouvoir restaurant directly opposite the entrance to the apartment is expensive but lovely, and there are many more bars and restaurants a short walk away, taking a very handy lift located right beside the building up to the main village. (The apartment itself is located on one corner of the village, down at the lowest point opposite a public car park).

We walked up the road to the Fresse lift and Funicular each day which is a reasonable distance in ski boots but the bus does stop right outside the building if you don't mind hanging around for a few minutes - you do arrive cooler and less flustered if you do but we are always impatient to get going!

All in all, a great place to stay, with a nice owner who will look after you, and we would definitely stay again.

(One piece of guidance If you are looking at the photos - only the photos clearly labelled "two bed" relate to the 2-bed place, the others are of the 3-bed located in the same building).

Very nice, comfortable and immaculately clean apartment. Worked as a charm for a family of 4 grown-ups. Space for more but then probably a bit cramped. Easy access to Val Claret center, comfortable ski-lockers with direct exit through the garage to the ski bus (even though it is quite near by foot to the slope if you wish). Description correct.

Parking, linen, towels and end-cleaning included.

Only down-side (described and we were well aware of it) the lack of a view from the balcony which is on the ground-floor facing a slope. .

Perfect apartment for family ski holiday

Lovely apartment, perfect for my family. I travelled with my 3 children for glacier skiing in October. We had stayed in the block before so knew that it is an excellent location to access the funicular to glacier though lots of other lifts would be easily accessible if there was snow down to resort level as will be the case later in the season. The apartment was clean and comfortable and the listing description was accurate. There were renovation works going on in the building at the time, which the owner had informed of us prior to the stay. The owner was very prompt to reply to my queries. I would recommend the apartment to a friend or relative with the caveat that I think it is well suited for a family with children but would be small for 6 adults travelling together.

Great ski apartment

The apartment was perfect for our late season ski holiday. It comfortably sleeps family of 4/5. Guus was really helpful and his advice and directions were spot on. We arrived late at night and everything was exactly as he said it would be and we had no problems with anything in the apartment.

The position is really good, Val Claret being the best postioned village of all the Tignes resorts. The bus stop right outside the door opens up the whole resort to do whatever you want. Skiing access is on the doorstep.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Guus's apartment, we would go back if he could arrange the weather a bit better !

Owner's Response: Thanks, we think the apartment is perfectly placed, and we also think Val Claret is the best Tignes Village. Yes, the weather is hard to organise, and as Tignes has such a long season and such a good snow record, some guests do get more snow than others. If it is snowy, the run down to Les Breviers for lunch is great as its through the trees and gives very good contrast. Pampering in the spa is also a good bet if the weather is poor, as is the main large swimming pool In Le Lac. On snowy days we have in the past retired for lunch in a restaurant, with a pack of cards in the jacket pocket, after a snowy ski. After lunch, we stayed in there and played cards, drunk Brandy and Calavodos and ate crepes all afternoon. Its not quite as good as a great sunny day on crisp powder, but it it comes a close second!

The ski apartment itself sits close to the bottom of the Grande Motte funicular lift up to the glacier at 3500m, making it a perfect setting for winter sport activities including skiing snowboarding and snowshoeing. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the vast piste areas of Tignes and Val D'Isere and even bigger off piste areas. The other villages of Tignes: Le Lac, Le Lavrechet, les Boisses and Les Breviers are within easy reach either on skis, or using the free Tignes bus service

The ski apartments has been finished to a high standard in a ski chalet style, the two bedroom apartment on one floor, the three bedroom apartment over two floors.
