About Artha and Roger

This lovely home is owned by British comedy magician Jolly Roger and his American wife, Artha (find out more about him - do a Google search - 'Jolly Roger Magician Arizona').

Artha is originally from the East Coast. A computer programmer by profession, she is startly an online business selling vintage fashion, jewelry, antiques, collectibles and eclectic art and consigning others to do the same.

Roger is in the process of completing his first book, 'The Spiritual Stage.'

Artha and Roger purchased this house in 2011
Why Artha and Roger chose Sedona

We have traveled all over the world and found the beauty, serenity and energy of Sedona to be incomparable. Having looked at several other homes in the area prior to purchasing, we knew this was the one as soon as we stepped into the home. The unique style and positive energy - as well as the ideal location - made this the perfect place for us to share.

What makes this house unique

We also own the home next door and visit from Phoenix at every opportunity! We rarely miss the 'free star show' the universe puts on each night as well as seeing the sun's first light hit the red rocks which are right outside our door! Red Rock parking pass also provided.

Awesome week in Sedona!!!

This was our first trip to Sedona and it was absolutely wonderful. Your vacation home was in the perfect location, only minutes to Sedona and within walking distance to coffee shop, plaza, gift shops, etc. Your home was well maintained, clean and stocked with many supplies. The king bed was oh so very comfortable. We enjoyed sitting on the patio having breakfast in the mornings, so pleasant. We would recommend this property.

My husband and I visited Sedona for a week arriving on 04/27/2013. We were immediately impressed with this lovely property. Every review I had read was excellent so we did not hesitate to reserve a visit. Sedona is truly beautiful and these accommodations really added to our enjoyment. The house is large, comfortable and nicely decorated. Artha and Roger have created inviting outdoor rooms where one can relax, take in some sun, cool in the afternoon breeze, or look at the stars. The master bedroom is charming with its theme of birds. The guest room is very still and perfect for quiet meditation or other family members to make themselves at home. We found the house equipped with anything we would need, all we had to do was bring in our groceries. Sedona is a magical and very spiritual place full of good loving energy, this certainly can be felt at this property because of the kindness and concern Artha and Roger show their house guests. We are definitely coming back.

Great house, beautiful surroundings, wonderful hosts

We visited from April 2 to April 9, 2013. The house was very well equipped and decorated like home and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Had fantastic weather most of the time and especially enjoyed our hikes to Bell Rock and around the neighbourhood. The drive to the Grand Canyon through Oak Creek Canyon, Flagstaff and route 64 through Cameron was very scenic and the GC must be on your list, although the red rock scenery in and around Sedona was also amazing on a smaller scale.
Artha and Roger were great and we plan to return some day.

Wonderful House in an Amazing Setting

5 of 5
Submitted: April 10, 2013 Stayed: March 2013
We stayed in this home for the month of March, 2013. It was our first visit to Sedona so like everyone else, were wonder struck by the beauty of the area. But first let us comment on the house.
It is much larger than it appears from the outside, well laid out with large bedrooms and large family room area. The house is well maintained and very clean, and is stocked with every thing one could imagine and more!
The Pellet stove was so warming on a few cold evenings and we even used the out door fire pit while we were outside stargazing. The BBQ was awesome and situated in the 2-tiered back yard, which was huge and well thought out.
Artha & Roger, who divide their time between the house next door and Phoenix, were wonderful and very hospitable. Each morning when they stayed next door we received a local paper and as well supplies for the house. They gave us our space but were there to greet us upon arrival and give us a tour, and as well were there to say good-bye shortly before we left.
While not really outdoor people, we became involved in hiking the beautiful trails in the surrounding area and this became the highlight of our stay. Our favorites were Cathedral Rock, Devils Bridge and the Arches.
We visited the Out of Africa Wildlife Park, taking our daughter and granddaughter and it was excellent and gave very up close and personal visits with wild animals from around the world. A visit to the Airport is a must with a fabulous view of Sedona.
We visited nearby Cottonwood and as well recommend a trip to Jerome which is an experience unto itself, like stepping back in time to an old western town out of a Clint Eastwood movie. In the town is the most interesting Kaleidoscope shop that made the trip worth it, just by itself.
As to local restaurants we loved and highly recommend the Market Place cafe in the Factory outlets in Oak Creek. The food was great and they had some amazing musical talent and Ken the owner made sure you were treated like special guests. As well we had great meals at the Red Chopstick, which was a block or so from the house and as well Olde Sedona Bar & Grill in Sedona which served an awesome meal for a reasonable price.
Overall, this was one of the very best VRBO properties we have ever stayed at and is a bargain at the monthly rental rate.
You will love Sedona, and Roger & Artha will make it magical!!

Ideal location

5 of 5
Submitted: March 24, 2013 Stayed: January 2013
Last year we spent 3 nights in Sedona. The area was so jaw droppingly beautiful decided we had to come back for more, so this year we came for a month. We chose this spot because of it's location just south of Sedona in Oak Creek Village. Located on a quiet cul de sac, we found it perfect for both our needs and wants; close to everything but out of the high traffic area. It was the ideal base for our explorations of Red Rock country.
The listing describes the house as 1500 square ft, but it felt much larger. On arriving my wife commented, "You mean we get the whole place?" the house was built in the 70's so the rooms are generously sized and comfortably appointed...very homey. Outside, the south facing patio was a favourite spot in the late afternoon. If one were there in the hot months there was also a second covered outdoor terrace that would provide a shady respite from the heat.
The owners Artha & Roger have provided a large variety of brochures and maps detailing local attractions, and were happy to answer our initial questions about what to see or do. On arriving there was a problem with a light in the kitchen, but this was seen to promptly and rectified.
We would happily return here again and would definitely recommend it to friends. We in fact invited another couple to join us for two weeks and there was ample space for all.
There is so much to see and do nearby. We spent a great deal of our time hiking the nearby trails, many of which are a short walk from the property. For excursions farther afield the owners have provided a parking pass which covers the many pay parking lots in the nearby parks. We particularly enjoyed was an interpertive walk at Red Rock State Park. The $ 10/vehicle fee was well worth it. The guide provided a fascinating talk on the geologic & human history as well as the flora and fauna of the area. Day trips to the Native American sites at Tuzigoot and Montezuma's Well and Castle were also high lights.
We were largely self catering but enjoyed fabulous dinners at Cucina Rustica & the Elote Cafe. The Desert Flour Bakery, Firecreek Coffee & Red Rock Cafe were go to spots for lighter meals or a good espresso drink. The Chevron station just south on 179 features build your own 6 packs for beer afficanados and Weber's IGA has a large selection of wines and good basic groceries. For organic meats and produce we drove to New Frontiers in West Sedona.

All in all this was a great vacation in an ideal location.
