About Artha and Roger

This lovely home is owned by British comedy magician Jolly Roger and his American wife, Artha (find out more about him - do a Google search - 'Jolly Roger Magician Arizona').

Artha is originally from the East Coast. A computer programmer by profession, she is startly an online business selling vintage fashion, jewelry, antiques, collectibles and eclectic art and consigning others to do the same.

Roger is in the process of completing his first book, 'The Spiritual Stage.'

Artha and Roger purchased this house in 2011

Why Artha and Roger chose Sedona

We have traveled all over the world and found the beauty, serenity and energy of Sedona to be incomparable. Having looked at several other homes in the area prior to purchasing, we knew this was the one as soon as we stepped into the home. The unique style and positive energy - as well as the ideal location - made this the perfect place for us to share.

What makes this house unique

We also own the home next door and visit from Phoenix at every opportunity! We rarely miss the 'free star show' the universe puts on each night as well as seeing the sun's first light hit the red rocks which are right outside our door! Red Rock parking pass also provided.

Wonderful Rental Home!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in April and we had a great time! We really enjoyed this home and it may be our favorite VRBO rental home so far. The kitchen was well equipped. The living room was very spacious. The bedrooms were comfortable and quiet at night. We loved the views from the living room, dining area and patio. The home is close to everything - shopping, restaurants, and the beautiful Sedona red rocks. There was a huge binder full of very helpful suggestions as to what to see, where to eat, shop, etc. In addition, Artha emailed us a very comprehensive list of check-in instructions, what to do and see and where to dine in the area. The home was very clean and comfortable with plenty of towels, bedding, etc. The laundry room was convenient and well-stocked. The landscaping provided privacy and the setting was very peaceful. We were sad to leave and hope we can return in the future. We highly recommend this home for your stay in Sedona/Oak Creek.

Owners are A+

  • 5 of 5

Four friends (FL, CT, SoCal) met here for a week of hiking & sightseeing. This comfortable house is in a quiet residential area of Oak Creek Village w easy access to trails as well as main roads. There is a wonderful patio for morning tea but if it's too chilly, the views from the dining room are pretty hard to beat. The appliances & furniture are dated but functional. What makes this house stand out are the owners who live next door & do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable. This even included coming over in the pouring rain to light the pellet stove! They provide a Red Rocks parking pass to use at the fee area parking lots. All sorts of brochures & guide books are right there- no need to track them down at the Chamber. While it's hard to pick a favorite hiking trail bc they were all great, we really enjoyed the Sedona Heritage Museum on Jordan Rd. Artha emails ahead of time w driving directions, things to do, area grocery stores, etc. The house is supplied w amenities such as basic spices, coffee, tea, laundry supplies. It's unusual to find a rental where the quoted fee is all inclusive of taxes, cleaning, security deposit. We found this to be a reasonable accommodation that met all our needs in beautiful red rock country.

Close to everything

  • 5 of 5

This comfortable home is in a quiet, residential neighborhood, right off 179 in the village of Oak Creek. The patio area allows cool breezes to flow thru & is a good place to store coolers, extra hiking gear, etc. Many extras are provided, such as coffee, tea, basic spices, laundry supplies. We had cool wet weather so appreciated the washer/dryer to recycle our warmer clothes. The appliances & furniture are dated but functional.

The owners are very gracious & helpful. They even came over one evening in the pouring rain to light the pellet stove for us! They provide at no extra charge a pass to park at all the trail heads which was a huge plus. There are numerous brochures to look thru for things to do in the area. We had a very full week of hiking & sightseeing in beautiful Sedona.

Couldn't ask for anything more!

  • 5 of 5

Artha and Roger provide every amenity and then some in their comfy home. Anything you could possibly need was there. We needed tape to seal our liquid vitamin bottles so they would not leak. Tape was in the drawer. We have never stayed in a more well equipped home.

It was nice to be close to Sedona (five minutes) but in a quiet neighborhood where you can see the red rocks from your dining room table. We enjoyed having our coffee on the patio in the mornings while watching the little sparrow bring food to her young in a bird house on the patio.

We did some of the nearby trails and sought out the vortexs. The view from the airport plateau was a favorite as well as Bell Rock. They even provide a pass for you so you don't have to purchase one. We also did the Pink Jeep Broken Arrow Tour. Don't miss this rock climbing tour. We had Shan as a driver and guide and we loved him. We did a day trip to Jerome. Eat at the Haunted Hamburger and shop all the great shops. We also loved the drive through Oak Creek Canyon. You can get out and play along the way at various places.

There are several places we recommend in the Villages of Oak Creek. There is a Local Artist shop a few blocks from the house that has some amazing works from the town artist. We always like to support the people that actually make things rather than to buy the Made in China stuff you find so often in souvenir shops these days. Also, on Friday, Saturday and Sundays at various locations, they have artist tents with the actual artist selling things that they made. We got some great things.

Restaurants were a different story. We ate a lot of meals at the house and did our shopping at Natural Grocers. We did like Red Rock Cafe, School House and Cucina Rustica in Oak Creek. In downtown Sedona, we ate several times at the Cowboy Club. That was my favorite place. The corn bread, wings, chili, baby back ribs, yum.

We truly loved this vacation home. Thanks so much for having us.

Great location, comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

Had a lovely stay. The home is very close to everything we wanted, golf, hiking and sightseeing. It had everything that we needed to make our short trip to Sedona comfortable. The owners had gone out of their way to supply great information on the area. We used their information as our guide book to find great eating places and side trips to take. We will certainly try for the house on our next trip.

Perfect location & great value!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much Artha and Roger for making our first Sedona visit so special! The house is lovely and in a perfect location. Our family of four adults found the space to be great for hanging out after a long day of hiking. We especially appreciated all the amenities you provide (especially the coffee!). The information booklet was very helpful as were all the restaurant menus you provided. Shortly after we arrived our first evening there was a thunderstorm and the view of lightening from the front window was incredible! The outdoor space is remarkable -- we ate at the outdoor table every evening. I highly recommend staying at this house which is a short drive to the heart of Sedona. We found the Village of Oak Creek also nice to explore and hope to return one day. (P.S. Our only travel regret is not staying longer at the house - we left after 4 nights for a 3 night stay at the Grand Canyon...next time we would not stay longer than 1 or 2 nights in Grand Canyon.)
