We have enjoyed the natural beauty of Hastings Mesa for over 20 years. We also appreciate the convenience of all weather highways nearby to get us to Telluride, Ouray and Ridgway very quickly. We can watch an Elk herd in the morning and have lunch in Telluride, kayak on the reservoir in Ridgway or enjoy the hot pools in Ouray - all easily accessible on the State Highways.
The Owner purchased this house in 1989
We have been renting hotel rooms, motel rooms, condos and homes in Southwest Colorado for over 35 years and this home is our favorite. The location is perfect in a grove of Aspens with a view of the Sneffels Range. It was spotlessly clean and well decorated and the views around it were breathtaking. The owners were very friendly and personable. The only small issue with the house is that it has no cell phone or WiFi service but that is a small price to pay considering the location and its 360 degree views. Cell phone service is available less than a mile away.
The location and setting was perfect. In the mountains, lots of wildlife(deer, elk, grouse, etc.) and phenomenal views right out the window. The owners were very hospitable, we were even treated to vegetables from the garden. Very secluded and in easy range of hiking trails. We have stayed in alot of vrbo's and this was our favorite
Fred and Cheryle have really done a super job renovating the former foreman's house and it is a truly fine place to stay. It is fully and I mean fully-equipped and nicely decorated in with rustic/fashionable Colorado fashion. The setting is incredible, with views of the Sneffels range, an aspen forest and animals of all sorts that wander through the acreage where the Back House is located. Sunsets are awe-inspiring. The owners are super people and the pride they take in their property is evident in all aspects. You really get away from it all (including internet and cell phone reception, which we were more than willing to abandon for a week), and it is just plain refreshing for the soul. The location is about halfway between Ouray and Telluride, which is convenient. Fred and Cheryle, thanks for everything and we hope to return often!
This was our first time in Ridgway and staying at the Lakota guest house, which was outstanding, both as to location interior and exterior finishes. The property is very well maintained. Very easy to communicate with the owners, who respect your privacy while staying at this beautiful guest house. Very close to Ridgway with great restaurants and 30 minutes to Telluride. We hope to stay at Lakota again in the future.
It really is hard to find anything new to add to the other reviews. The Lakota S Ranch property was excellent. Very clean, bed very comfortable, everything provided as needed and promised, everything in good repair, peaceful, and felt remote yet close to all we wanted to do. The hosts are friendly and helpful but give you your space. They went out of their way to help us When my husband had a health issue arrise and that was so much appreciated. It was just our favorite place we have stayed anywhere in Colorado. And exactly what we needed to recover from a very stressful time in our lives. We loved seeing the stars at night (okay the rain this year was unusual and we ony had a couple nights when we could see them!). Loved waking to the sound of fawns playing outside our window. It was fun watching the deer each evening. And I have never seen so many birds in one spot in Colorado! Hope to come back some time in the fall to see what the area is like. This would absolutely be our first choice of a place to stay again. Highly recommend this property to anyone who wants a peaceful lovely place to stay. You will not be disappointed. And Mouse's Chocolates down in Ouray is a vitally necessary stop on a trip to the area. Their scrap cookies and chai were awesome.
The Stemmler's created a home away from home. The scenery is breathtaking, the accommodations suburb and the the location peaceful but handy to everything. The home is decorated with great taste and the kitchen is stocked with everything you would need. We will definitely be back.
